Do you remember Heather Mills?

I have been watching the Beatles documentary and got to thinking about her.

She was in the papers constantly in the 2000s, I remember her being painted as an absolute con artist witch. I googled a few articles about her from the time of the divorce. They are brutal in the misogynistic tone, she’s labelled as a slag, a goer, ex prostitute, you name it.

I don’t think papers write about women in such hash terms anymore. Maybe she was a bit of a twat, whoever married Saint Paul would have suffered at that time I think.

I suppose by AIBU is are the press less misogynistic.

PM needs to fly first class because of his level of fame. His child does not. Just because she’s his child she needs to be in first class all her life? If she was flying with him maybe. Not if she’s flying with her mother .

Nobody needs to be in 1st class, even celebs. But most parents want their kids - while they are actually children, at least - to enjoy the same standard of living as them.

It's sad that PM didn't want that for Beatrice, especially as it would have meant no hardship for him whatsoever.

Classica · 28/11/2021 21:26

I'm sure she holidayed with her father post-her parents divorce and no doubt that involved first class flights.

Classica · 28/11/2021 21:28

And if her mother wanted Beatrice to fly first class when holidaying with her, her wealth would easily cover that.

NdujaWannaDance · 28/11/2021 21:29

I still want to know.. is Beatrice now a boy?

Most children don’t care if they’re flying first class or not. I’ve never travelled first class myself. I don’t consider it a terrible hardship.

Are you saying all parents should ensure that their children have the same things they have ? Adults work for these things themselves, they are not a right that their children are entitled to . If a parent owned three houses, do their children have a right to three house each too?

Do adult children have a right to all that their parents have accrued through hard work? No.

Beatrice was 13 then though. That’s some time ago.

julieca · 28/11/2021 21:41

@TheElvishQueen 5-year-olds don't know. 9 or 10-year-olds certainly do know and know the difference.
When your dad is billionaire then you would expect to live differently to your average child and teenager. The divorce settlement was a disgrace.

Yeah thats just nasty of him. Seriously I don't think much of him as a result.

I sat next to Heather and her child at ' Everybody's Talking About Jamie'. I was struck by what a beautiful woman she was.
At that stage - I think it was 2017?- B used the gents loo. This led to my DH telling me I must have mis-identified the pair. B was the spitting image of her father though, and Heather clearly recognisable-her appearance and her accent.
Heather didn't return for the second half ( I heard her on a phone call during the interval, I guess it was an important one) and I felt a bit sorry for B on her own, although she clearly enjoyed the show.

LizzieSiddal · 28/11/2021 22:02

Did the judgement specifically say that PM would only pay for second class flights?

SpangleWhorl · 28/11/2021 22:03

I thought PMcC was a massive twat over that divorce settlement as well.

OneTC · 28/11/2021 22:07

How strange, me and my friends were talking about Heather Mills in the pub this afternoon

julieca · 28/11/2021 22:07

@HelloDulling it wasnt for the marriage, it was for the child who lived with her.

Me too. I've never bought the "national treasure" thing since. I also thought the other children behaved very badly at the prospect of losing a share of their father's wealth.

Amazing documentary that tells the real story of her life aired on .
Haha - I love Star Stories, was just wondering if anyone was going to reference it!
MilkTooth · 28/11/2021 22:16

I met them both once in a Parkinson aftershow thing. She seemed like the brains of the couple — he was amiably dopey to talk to.

winnieanddaisy · 28/11/2021 22:20

HM received at least one house. £15,000,000 is £1,000,000 per year to live on until the child is of age . On top of that all the daughters childcare and school fees were covered until she was 18 and £35,000 for her expenses every year . I'm sure that Paul covered a lot of other things for his daughter such as medical expenses too .
She probably has had a lifestyle similar to her dad . Just because he has a huge amount of money doesn't mean he spends a huge amount of money .
Now that she's older he probably cuts the mother out and gives living expenses straight to his daughter and I wouldn't blame him .

SpookyScarySkeletons · 28/11/2021 22:37

Didn't she do dancing on ice a few years back?

ScribblingPixie · 28/11/2021 22:53

I lived quite near Paul & Linda McCartney when their children were young. They went to local state schools and I know at least one of them had a very ordinary Saturday job in town. I think their parents liked them to be as normal as possible rather than living in the lap of luxury. Quite admirable really.

JaceLancs · 28/11/2021 22:53

Hopefully Heather is happy now - not sure how I feel about Paul being a national treasure
They are both just people in a relationship that didn’t work out
Move on……..

Yes they were famous for it. I really admire it too.

She got 20 million out of him, I hardly think she was hard done by. She got her claws into him when he was vulnerable, which let’s be honest, so did Linda, but luckily it worked out for them.

My own view is that no woman has ever held a candle to John Lennon and he’s tormented by that. I’m sure it’s not easy competing with the ghost of John, no matter how much money he’s got.

Sydneylover1 · 28/11/2021 23:17

She owns a vegan food company (vbites). My friend worked for her for a year (up to the end of 2020) and said she was okay but quite a disorganised and scatty (ie not really business focused) character. I gather her senior employees (MD level) don’t last very long!

If you watch the Get Back documentary, you may change your mind.
