Do you remember Heather Mills?

I have been watching the Beatles documentary and got to thinking about her.

She was in the papers constantly in the 2000s, I remember her being painted as an absolute con artist witch. I googled a few articles about her from the time of the divorce. They are brutal in the misogynistic tone, she’s labelled as a slag, a goer, ex prostitute, you name it.

I don’t think papers write about women in such hash terms anymore. Maybe she was a bit of a twat, whoever married Saint Paul would have suffered at that time I think.

I suppose by AIBU is are the press less misogynistic.

One look at how the press deal with Meghan and you’ll realise they’re exactly the same as they’ve ever been.

AutumnAlmanack · 28/11/2021 19:24

She was/is a horrible cow. Took Paul for all she could get and gave nothing in return.

GetTheFlockOutOfHere · 28/11/2021 19:25

@Kendoddsdadsdogsdadsdead

Oh wow. Just googled Beatrice and she is the absolute double of Paul McCartney!
She is isn't she?!

I can't STAND Heather Mills, but I would rather not state why on here..

She really is, it’s astonishing.
StoneofDestiny · 28/11/2021 19:25

Thought she opened a food bar - veggie burgers or something in a coastal area? Had no idea they had a child together.

MissLucyEyelesbarrow · 28/11/2021 19:25

@LizzieSiddal

Yes the press were dreadful regarding her.

However on a separate note she was a pretty dreadful person. She has been found to have lied on numerous occasions according to the judge at her divorce hearing. She also poured a jug of water over Paul’s lawyer’s head when the judgement was announced. I think that says rather alot about her as a person.

Yes, she was a bit of a fantasist and perhaps not an especially nice person. OTOH, from the pasting she got in the media, you'd have thought she was a mass murderer. There were insinuations that she had taken advantage of a confused older man, but McCartney was only 58 when they got together and, even 20 years later, still seems cognitively fine for someone who dropped a tonne of acid in the 60s
SilentPanic · 28/11/2021 19:26

She lied so much though, and Macca's kids worried about their dad when he was with her. Also, does anyone remember the mad interview she did on This Morning where she touted rats' milk as an alternative to cows' milk?!

tara66 · 28/11/2021 19:27

I thought she moved to Poland at one stage.

Malibuismysecrethome · 28/11/2021 19:27

MissLucy... I think that’s putting it mildly

JavaQ · 28/11/2021 19:27

Famously described in song by Fascinating Aida, as a "vengeful monopod"

Riverlee · 28/11/2021 19:28

When they go together, it was portrayed as a fairytale romance. They were the golden couple.

GetTheFlockOutOfHere · 28/11/2021 19:28

Beatrice is Paul McCartney's doppelganger! Looks nothing like her mother, but a LOT like her father.

Do you remember Heather Mills?
seperatedmum · 28/11/2021 19:30

@Malibuismysecrethome

I remember her being interviewed and she said that her mum had lost her leg in the same way at a similar age. I remember thinking how terrible that was and then a couple of years later it was revealed that her mum had had a knee operation and hadn’t lost her leg at all. She lied
exactly. I very carefully and slowly read her first book "out on a limb" because I was not a cool teenager and went to bed early to read lots. I always remembered the many and varied things that happened to her according to that book and that they clashed with what she then said when she married Paul McCartney like the above and that she really had a terrible relationship with her mother then she named her daughter after her 🤔
Davros · 28/11/2021 19:31

I thought there was a lot of judgment. Paul met, and married, the love of his life. She died. So sad and not thinking straight. Ditto Nigella

AndMatt · 28/11/2021 19:31

Was it "the press" or PM's PR machine that did a number on her.

I've no idea what the truth of it was but it was a commonly held view that she deserved very little from the divorce, I can't imagine who might have stirred that up...

PicassoInAtoolbox · 28/11/2021 19:32

She's a fantasist and a liar. She claimed journalistic articles written by another Heather Mills as her own work. I don't agree anyone he married would have received the same bad press. He's married now isn't he? From what I've read she's lovely and his family adore her.

Isthatthebestyoucando · 28/11/2021 19:32

Is Beatrice still Ben? She was trans for a while.

Thelikelylass · 28/11/2021 19:33

All the Beatle's wives and girlfriends were given an awful time. She in particular had some awful things written about her. I have heard of her quiet acts of kindness though towards children with disabilities.

Iusedtoliveinsanfrancisco · 28/11/2021 19:33

He was virtually old enough to be her grandfather. She was used.

godmum56 · 28/11/2021 19:34

i was on a crowded train with her once...one of those "say your name as loud as you can on every phonecall" people.

Classica · 28/11/2021 19:34

She struck me as a tireless liar/fantasist/self-promoter. I seem to remember she claimed she was going to donate a big chunk of her divorce settlement to a particular charity but I remember reading that it never materialised.

I'm no Macca fan particularly but she did seem like a piece of work.

Oblomov21 · 28/11/2021 19:35

alborana · 28/11/2021 19:36

A narcissist and a liar. I know someone just like her who snared a rich husband in a similar way.

There's a 24 year age gap. She was 32 and already well-established as a model and an activist when they met. She was hardly a naive ingenue.
Honeyroar · 28/11/2021 19:38

I was an air stewardess for years. She was a passenger on one of my flights. I inwardly cringed when she walked on and sat in the bit I was working in. I was expecting a diva. But she was really down to Earth and polite, even when the airline had not loaded her preordered vegan meal. It was at the time that she was training for the Winter Olympics and I had a chat with her about that. She completely changed my (media formed) opinion of her.

And let’s face it, P Mc was an idiot to rush into another marriage so quickly.
