wtf, i am in the north west, few hours back the wind picked up like nothing i have heard in years. I tis FIERCE!

Anyone else experiencing it?

It is extremely powerful and quite awe inspiring. The noise is seriously dark and creepy. Went outside and was almost taken off my feet. Trees bent double, howling, etc.

Midlands here so not as bad as those further north but still nearly got blown away walking back from a gig. Glad we’re safely at home in bed.

MercedesBenz · 27/11/2021 00:46

@notimagain
Thanks for your help , yeah it’s going to mean some juggling to get everything back on the schedule , thanks
Ah well fingers crossed
Stay safe everyone

ShatteredDream · 27/11/2021 00:50

Edinburgh here, it’s pretty windy but I’m rather disappointed tbh. Nothing too dramatic where I am

DaisyNGO · 27/11/2021 00:50

@NotMyCat

Not my cat has decided he is staying here for the night. Sensible of him
You have someone else's cat for the night? That's an unexpected plus from a gale force wind

Now I'm picturing a cat flying on the wind to a new home...

vodkaredbullgirl · 27/11/2021 01:05

Is down here in the south. The wind had been 10 bin bowling yesterday. Bad day for bin day lol

Looubylou · 27/11/2021 01:05

North East here, and it's quite scary. I'm worried my bedroom window will blow in. I have no idea how my partner and 11 year old are sleeping through it all. Though DP has been out for a meal and had a drink or 6, so I suppose that helps. It snowed early evening but lashing rain now. Stay safe and well everyone. I don't think I'll be asleep anytime soon.

QuestionableMouse · 27/11/2021 01:06

@hayley013

We're north east and the wind is never been this bad
Right?! It's like constant thunder! Keeps booming!
TheChip · 27/11/2021 01:10

Im in the north east.
I will be very surprised if my roof stays in tact. I can hear the tiles lifting and banging back down every time a gust comes, which seems like every few seconds. It's above my bedroom so I can't sleep.
According to windy, in the next hour its going to get even stronger in my area. Fingers crossed it stays strong! My roof, that is. I hope the wind simmers the fuck down.

QuestionableMouse · 27/11/2021 01:14

I'm in the loft. Just heard something roll down the roof. Not sure I want to know 😣

QuestionableMouse · 27/11/2021 01:15

imgur.com/a/GQGMOxp tiny video (might be loud)

TheChip · 27/11/2021 01:17

Its vicious sounding isn't it. I dread to think of how loud an actual hurricane is. It must be terrifying.

MoonbeamSprinkles · 27/11/2021 01:21

I’m in the north east and it’s the worst I’ve ever known and I was in Glasgow for bawbag

Our recycling bin just went down the street and sprayed our recycling everywhere.
And our bathroom window has blown open and won’t shut.

It’s pretty horrific

Bettybantz · 27/11/2021 01:42

NW here. Fucking wild. I’ve just been to a gig in Manchester. What a grim journey home. Sleet. Trains delayed. Rail replacements. Shudder. Glad to have a warm home to come back to. It’s horrible out there.

amatsip · 27/11/2021 01:48

I’m too scared to sleep, it’s battering my house, scared the windows will come in, my little girl is asleep next to me. We are Durham.

mummy3uk · 27/11/2021 02:01

Im in wiltshire and shitting myself tbh! Iv been looking out back for the last hour to make sure nothing is damaged. Fences are sturdy enough and trampoline is weighed down and not flinching but I hate the wind. I have ptsd anyway and wind like this is causing me so much panic right now. Partner doesnt understand I feel sick and like im about to die because of abit of wind! Bins are standing fine so far but urgh... hate winds with a passion!

amatsip · 27/11/2021 02:08

This reminds me of 1987, but I was too young understand the danger of it.

The weather forecast said the worst should be over by now but it doesn’t feel it.

KalvinPhillipsManBun · 27/11/2021 02:12

I am in Leeds and it sounds like my windows are about to blow in, and our bins have took themselves off along with everyone else's! It's scary isn't it?

Skihound · 27/11/2021 02:13

We have just had to retrieve the trampoline from neighbours garden 2up and dismantle it (was weighed down) and all fences are down - we are north east Angry

MinnieJackson · 27/11/2021 02:14

West mids here. It's so loud. I'm on the sofa with my three year old because it woke us up and he's scared. Also got 13 year old lab trying to climb on me Confused my neighbours parked his huge high open sided trailer on our drive and I keep hearing bits of metal moving and imagining a huge pole coming through my kitchen window. Reckon we've lost some fence panels.

Someaddedsugar · 27/11/2021 02:15

Another one in Durham. Pretty sure a few roof tiles are loose as I can hear something sliding along the roof every time the wind picks up. DP has moved to the spare room and poorly DS has crawled in with me and I can’t understand how they’re both asleep!

amatsip · 27/11/2021 02:23

@Someaddedsugar I’m on a new build estate and am worried about houses still being constructed sending debris my way. Bloody terrifying, I thought it was meant to have passed by now.

Someaddedsugar · 27/11/2021 02:28

@amatsip I thought it was meant to have passed too but it doesn’t feel like it’s stopping here. Fingers crossed it settles soon and you manage to get some sleep.

Youaremypenguin · 27/11/2021 02:30

Exactly. It's so loud! Its like a pressure washer is being pointed at all my windows. The wind is literally howling around my house. I darent look at the inevitable carnage outside because I can do nothing. How can anyone sleep through this?! I don't remember a storm this bad.
grannyjacob · 27/11/2021 02:31

Dundee here, lots of trees uprooted, lots of roads blocked. People stuck in their cars for hours outside the city. Biggest thing to land in someone’s garden - a caravan!

CrunchyCarrot · 27/11/2021 02:36

W.Midlands here, but at altitude, so the gusts are pretty bad and there's all sorts of rattlings and crashing going on. Can't sleep. The main street lamp went out so it's really dark and that's making me feel more uneasy. Checked in on the cats sleeping downstairs and they're both awake and also looking a bit anxious (kitchen where they sleep is quite noisy with the wind and bins outside, I expect to find at least 2 bins on their side tomorrow).

A bit worried about the mini greenhouse, too. We've a couple of big trees nearby.

Stay safe everyone.
