wtf, i am in the north west, few hours back the wind picked up like nothing i have heard in years. I tis FIERCE!

Anyone else experiencing it?

It is extremely powerful and quite awe inspiring. The noise is seriously dark and creepy. Went outside and was almost taken off my feet. Trees bent double, howling, etc.

My gift neighbors fence panel which scratched OH car, we've put it in our garage for now

KurtWildesChristmasNamechange · 27/11/2021 13:04

@TheChip absolutely! The bag is in the bin but the door mat is unscathed aside from needing a good wash.

I've also been given the gift of having to put my fences back up. Yay. Lucky me.

Garriet · 27/11/2021 13:07

We have no gifts but someone has our food waste bin. It was in our front garden surrounded by a brick wall, but no longer. Nowhere to be seen in the near vicinity either!

Helpstopthepain · 27/11/2021 13:12

I didn’t get any wind gifts Sad lucky the stroppy cow didn’t take anything either.

Brainwashed · 27/11/2021 13:15

Right in the red zone in East Lothian. Barely slept last night as it sounded like our roof was being ripped off. Amazingly this morning fences and roof tiles all intact on our house though can't say the same for our neighbours. Loads of trees down and the sea is still wild

CaptainCallisto · 27/11/2021 13:42

We're looking at a long time with no power here in our corner of N. Yorks. - three power line poles have come down just outside the village. It was on and off through the night, and the farmer whose land they cross put pics up first thing of the poles leaning right over. Sadly they haven't managed to get to them in time and they've completely fallen now. It's still very gusty outside, but not as bad as overnight, so hopefully might die down soon as forecast...

ErrolTheDragon · 27/11/2021 17:19

The wind here swept the leaves off my back lawn and out of my side alley into a fairly neat pile on the driveway.
But it broke the lid my (already somewhat ropey) coldframe, which is annoying with hard frost forecast for tonight.
We were only in the yellow zone. Sorry for those of you who've got no power or had house/gardens etc trashed.

savagebaggagemaster · 27/11/2021 17:24

No power in my neck of the woods (SE Scotland) since last night and they reckon it won't be back on until 10pm tomorrow night! Thinking the freezer will need to be chucked out now. What a waste. SadWe've come away this weekend for a planned birthday trip, so at least we've been able to have a shower and can stay warm even though it's snowing heavily here (NE England). We gave our camping stove and gas bottle to our neighbour, plus some flasks of hot water before we left. We rely entirely on electricity for heating and cooking. I hope it comes back on soon for everyone else.

Peace43 · 27/11/2021 17:28

It took out our electric at 11pm last night. Finally came back at 4pm this afternoon. A long day of Uno and Lego!! Luckily we have a coal / log burner so some heat. A camping stove boiled water…. We had a great time! Might do power cut days once a month Grin

Pliudev · 27/11/2021 17:35

I'm in the far SW and it's been raging since yesterday. The noise in the night was terrific. Even the dog didn't want to go out this afternoon. Branches all over the lane so we scooted home fast.

tommyhoundmum · 27/11/2021 18:06

It was forecast this morning

mamabear715 · 27/11/2021 18:09

We're in Yorks now. All I could think was thank goodness we weren't still on the North Eastern coast. I can only imagine.. my youngest daughter used to sit on the kitchen floor all night when it was windy, as tiles bounced down the roof & flew off. That was just when it was windy, not a humdinger like last night.. Terrifying.
I hope everyone's ok.

janj2301 · 27/11/2021 19:28

East London, just started to pick up here, glad I'm safely indoors

Ddot · 27/11/2021 19:32

On the way to work this morning I saw a front door in the road. Friends fence has fell over, my chimney cage has gone and my other friend needs a roofer

I remember tiles flying off our roof and spinning in circles through the air, every now and then one would come through a window (eastern Scottish Borders in an exposed spot on a hill so wind meant something totally different there anyway to other places
QuestionableMouse · 27/11/2021 20:04

Was quite scary driving home - heavy, wet snow blowing straight at the car. Not my favourite driving weather.

CaptainCallisto · 27/11/2021 20:35

Just spoken to FIL (86 and on the East Yorkshire coast) and he's lost about a quarter of his roof tiles. SIL has been up in the loft setting up buckets this afternoon in an attempt to save his ceilings underneath. He's stubbornly refusing to go and stay with SIL though.

I’ve been called into work, been here since 11pm - hundreds/thousands of homes without any power, roofs completely collapsed, cars and caravans overturned shock trees down and blocking roads and falling into houses etc....

I’m mid 30’s and I’ve never experience anything like this, live in the North East.*

I posted the above at 3.32am this morning, I’ve only just got home half a hour ago Wine (I’m a SLT in social housing)

Friday I worked 7am to 5.30pm... was called into work Friday around 11pm and I’ve come home roughly around half an hour ago!

I despair at some “people” we’re in the middle of a
THREAT
TO
LIFE
RED
STORM
ALERT....

Yet Tonight I’ve been called a whore, a useless bitch, a cunt, told to fuck off to my own country Biscuit and a foreigner....

However none of that compares to the verbal assault I’ve had this afternoon - by wishing me gang raped and killed brutally in front of my children Angry

My sentence was that that I COULDN’T send a roofer out to ONE single loose slate on their roof.......causing no threat or risk to life.... apparently health and safety is not their problem and they don’t care if winds reach 80mph...they wanted it fixed tonight otherwise they will post all of social media and go to the newspapers....

I just frankly need an exhausted rant!

I'm absolutely disgusted by some people. I hope you're OK, that's a truly vile thing to wish upon you 😤🤬

We're in the red area and have had no power since about 7ish last night. Its not expected to be back until 10pm tomorrow.

Barney60 · 27/11/2021 23:19

Midlands - Friday night i spent hours anchoring things down outside as it was so severe!

HaudYerWheeshtYaWeeBellend · 28/11/2021 02:19

Glitterblue

Are you in the monument area?

liveforsummer · 28/11/2021 07:11

Completely still here but have woken up to snow - proper lying snow comping down so gently now there's not a breath of wind.

justasking111 · 28/11/2021 07:39

@HaudYerWheeshtYaWeeBellend. Thank god my DD quit a job like yours with a housing association last month so is spared the abuse this time round. Staff who quit aren't being replaced she was doing a full time job on a part time contract. My advice is don't let your employer take advantage of you as they did her

Ddot · 28/11/2021 07:41

And breath, looked out of window, snow but thankfully my house seems relatively ok. Hope your all safe! Now just have to pay for the damage 😭

Gilld69 · 28/11/2021 07:42

I'm in Liverpool it's destroyed my greenhouse, my poor seedlings got a beating, couldn't believe how strong it was I don't think we've ever had it the strong
