wtf, i am in the north west, few hours back the wind picked up like nothing i have heard in years. I tis FIERCE!

Anyone else experiencing it?

It is extremely powerful and quite awe inspiring. The noise is seriously dark and creepy. Went outside and was almost taken off my feet. Trees bent double, howling, etc.

NW here. They've switched off all the big wind turbines on the hills as it's too windy for them! Set off to go out last night but turned back because of the wind and snow. Wind was very loud overnight - woke up to some tree and fence damage. Overnight snow has settled but not too deep. Will have to check soon whether it has drifted and blocked us in!

Our local Facebook page has loads of photos of tree, roof and building damage (the multi storey car park lost its roof yesterday afternoon, before it got really bad!). We've fared OK, but apparently there's a fair amount of damage on the main road into the village (about 300m to our right), and in the village itself. Properties on the prom have suffered as well, but they were the first line of 'defence' from the wind blowing straight at them.

The site where I have an allotment is destroyed. Sheds / greenhouses / polytunnels destroyed all round. I'll go tomorrow to check the damage; I fear a Final Destination-style moment from a faltering greenhouse if I go today, as we still have 45mph gusts.

My garden wall has collapsed, our fences are gone. The trampoline is now at the other end of the garden and there are random trampolines and football goals all over the place. Our neighbours chimney collapsed and a friends conservatory was smashed by a falling tree.
Hope it calms down soon! We are right on the coast, North East.

MrsDThomas · 27/11/2021 09:19

the wind is picking up not dying down. I hear things rattling and its really gusty now

catwithflowers · 27/11/2021 09:29

Northumberland here. Winds of 98 mph recorded. We have no power. Greenhouse panes ripped out. At least we can light a fire to keep warm🔥🥶

bobbythejobby · 27/11/2021 09:52

Central Scotland here. We had it pretty bad 7pm last night to maybe 2/3am this morning. Had to go out twice as the shed doors kept blowing open and the shed looked as if it was about to take off. Neighbour's metal/corrugated iron shed the roof kept lifting up and dunting down. Not fun. It sounded worse to me than the infamous (well, infamous if you live in Scotland I guess) Hurricane Bawbag. No power cuts here though so I'm thankful for that.

userxx · 27/11/2021 09:55

@EllaPaella You've had it bad 😞.

tallduckandhandsome · 27/11/2021 10:01

Sorry to hear about all the damage. Does insurance cover this?

Almostmenopausal · 27/11/2021 10:06

It's all stopped here in North Yorkshire. Trampoline moved and tree snapped but all otherwise ok. Snow melting

Joystir59 · 27/11/2021 10:10

I'm on the coast in North Yorks and it's still gusting moaning and roaring here

Joystir59 · 27/11/2021 10:12

We have alot of trees around about so it's good that least all the leaves were already off

NotMyCat · 27/11/2021 10:15

@DaisyNGO I do! He's been not my cat for 3 years and visits a few times a day. When it starts getting cold, he stays overnight. He woke me up at 6.30 for breakfast Smile

MamDancer · 27/11/2021 10:26

My garden wall has collapsed, our fences are gone.

Sounds like a great start to a sad C&W song!

Seriously though, my heart goes out to all who suffered damage, and the loss of two lives is horrendous.

Livpool · 27/11/2021 10:28

My neighbour's tree has cracked Nd is now 'resting' on his conservatory

It probably depends on your location - this storm was at its worst down the east coast and if I remember rightly 'bawbag' was worst on the west.

My MIL is NE Scotland and has been without power since yesterday afternoon. They're now saying ETA getting it back on late tonight. I really hope it's sooner as she's in her 80s and has not heating, it's minus 2 apparently....
Keeping all fingers crossed for everyone in the thick of it at the moment.

Looubylou · 27/11/2021 10:50

Still lashing rain and wild winds here in NE. My phone is telling me it has been dry with some sunshine since 8am 🙄I can't believe we have luckily escaped any damage to house and gardens, considering I thought the windows were going to blow in. People are still driving in and out of cul de sac - surely the bloody shopping could wait. The supermarket I go to is very close to the cost, so I'm not risking it.

What a shame. I hope it comes on for her soon . We're still without power. But we have a gas hob so boiling hot water on pans for hot water bottles. Does she have means to make a cuppa and heat up food at least? Ours is supposed to be back on by 8pm tonight. Going to be cold by then.
Lupinhere37 · 27/11/2021 12:11

I just saw a really upsetting article on the Welsh News. A dog rescue in Carmarthen has been badly battered; lost their roof and lots of damaged outbuildings and their power is off. A puppy died as a result. The rescue is full of dogs, too. Such a mess!

grannyjacob · 27/11/2021 12:22

Glorious sunny day here in Dundee now, still a bit breezy and very cold. Countless trees down all around and in the city.

KurtWildesChristmasNamechange · 27/11/2021 12:24

Here in West Yorkshire we had snow overnight, melting now. Wind is still quite strong but not too bad. Fences are down and my neighbours plastic greenhouse has disappeared entirely.

TheChip · 27/11/2021 12:27

I wonder what gifts from the wind people woke up to today. The most interesting thing I found in my garden was a newspaper. I've not seen one of those for a while!
But hearing that people's little greenhouses are missing and shit makes me wonder who got gifts from the wind, and what was it? Trampolines are common wind gifts.

bratzdoll · 27/11/2021 12:31

😂 I actually HATE the wind. I find it so ferocious and unnecessary!

KurtWildesChristmasNamechange · 27/11/2021 12:40

My wind gifts were a Sainsbury's carrier bag and a rubber door mat 😂

TheChip · 27/11/2021 12:56

Not bad. At least £6.05 worth there!
