Washing up gate, who was unreasonable?

I won’t give the full back story as I want opinions based on the facts rather than from the angels we were each coming from.

I had just done all the washing up/ loaded the dishwasher. Walked up stairs and DH was rushing out the room to go to a work meeting and had another few bits of washing up.

I said oh I’ve just done the washing up and have people coming over, can you just leave it in the bedroom for now so it’s out of sight.

DH said no, my hands are full I’m putting the washing up in the sink where washing up goes.

I took the washing up back out the sink back upstairs and put it on his bedside table.

Was I being unreasonable?

My DH removed a significant number of coke cans from my sons bedroom and placed them on the landing ready to be taken down stairs.
I snapped at him and told him to put them back until I was ready to tidy the bedroom and sort out the recycling. I know where you are coming from but I think we were both probably in the wrong .

This kind of thing irritates me too. You spend time getting tidy then someone dumps stuff and expects you to do that too. If you have a small kitchen it makes all the difference having bits in the way when you thought you’d got organised.

I haven’t got a partner but I do have teens who do this kind of thing to me.

Are you BreeVanDerKamp? How petty.

It's more than likely that some people's idea of cooking involves sticking a ready meal or nibbles in the microwave

MEOW! 🤣

ancientgran · 27/11/2021 19:08

The microwave would probably be more effective than cooking in the kitchen sink.

Do what I do and hide any washing up in the oven before guests arrive, then when they go you can turn your oven on and melt your child’s bottle all over the rack JUST LIKE ME 🙂

AnAverageMum · 27/11/2021 19:20

Or whilst they’re there if your cooking for them like I’ve just seen… extra awkward. Lavly.
