Would you be happy if the feet of your newly installed kitchen looked like this? New quartz worktop due to go in shortly, wickes installation manager thinks this is absolutely fine.

AIBU to think I should be getting a better install for a kitchen I have paid wickes £15,000 to supply and install?

We bought our kitchen and fitted it ourselves. Ripped out the old one, got the floor levelled and I tiled the floor myself. Granted, my kitchen's tiny, but still, the floor is a bloody masterpiece. This needs escalating. That's a big outlay for such a bad job.

Crappykitchen · 19/11/2021 18:11

'Unfortunately we are not able to give contact details out. I am not willing to comment any more on the levelling of the floor as previously discussed, I am a designer not an installer. I would recommend waiting for customer services to contact you and you can discuss this with them. Unfortunately there isn't anything else we can do for you at store level'

Just had this response from the designer, apparently I'm not allowed the contact details of the installation manager Confused

Before any other work is carried out, I would get the company to send out a surveyor as they obviously haven’t followed the contract.
Hope you haven’t paid them.

MintJulia · 19/11/2021 18:15

I had a worktop related issue with Wickes. After two weeks getting nowhere with the store, I emailed the CEO of the holding group with photos. I politely asked for help resolving the issue before I handed the whole lot over to my solicitor,

I had a reply within four hours, and the new work top delivered two weeks later.

Crappykitchen · 19/11/2021 18:17

They are just not interested, apparently there is nobody who goes put to examine shoddy work

I think those feet are not well supported. Those are very skimpy little stacks of bits of wood levelling up the legs. I don’t think there is enough support for those worktops long term.

We have had two people out from Wickes to inspect their shitty work so far. This was arranged through their customer services. They also gave us the details of our installation manager at the very start.

We did threaten with section 75 though as it was all paid on our credit card.

Pompypomypomp · 19/11/2021 18:27

Wow... Share these pics on twitter and hashtag wickes . That's ridiculous. They should at least have put something water impermeable and unmovable under those legs. And cleaned!

OP that really is an absolute shite job. Kick up a merry stink and don’t pay them a penny. Get it out on their social media platforms PDQ.

Crappykitchen · 19/11/2021 18:40

Just posted on twitter and Instagram you can probably find the post if you have a look wickes are tagged, I'm so gutted waited and saved years for this

Email the chief exec office, google will have the email address.

Was just about to say the same.

This is what CEO email is saying www.ceoemail.com/s.php?id=ceo-3217966

I'd refuse to have any further work done, it all needs to come out and restart with the floor being levelled properly. They're trying to get it so that it's just good enough to get you through the warranty period and then they can wash their hands and walk away, leaving you with years of issues. Don't let them!

YorkshireLass2012 · 19/11/2021 18:58

Write a complaint email to the CEO and attach all the photos. Be polite and include names of everyone you have been in touch with about your concerns and include date and times. You can Google the email address.
This doesn’t look right to me but I am no expert.
Good luck OP.

Crappykitchen · 19/11/2021 19:02

I have already emailed David Wood a few days ago. Feel like I'm banging my head against a brick wall.

This is absolutely no help whatsoever, but I'm massively pissed off for you, in the market for a new kitchen, and Wickes can do one.

Stovetopespresso · 19/11/2021 19:14

the guardian has a good consumer page which has helped readers out....mysteriously after month of fob off, the companies move like greased lightening to sort an issue.

Stovetopespresso · 19/11/2021 19:14

I wont be using wickes because of your post!

Crappykitchen · 19/11/2021 19:15

Thank you all so much for validating my concerns. They were making me feel like I was just a fussy nightmare customer

That looks awful I had a wicks kitchen which was fitted by one of their fitters. I had a lot of problems too, and the installation manager was also unhelpful, the fitter that did my kitchen had never been used by wicks before so I was the Guinea Pig. They did eventually redo some of the work, but I wouldn't say its perfect. Stick to your guns and don't accept shoddy work. I think you have to sign to say you are happy on completion so don't sign anything until you are happy.

Unsure33 · 19/11/2021 19:22

I would be heading a letter : official complaint

making them sign to say that if the worktop Is fitted and you experience any problems at all that they will accept full responsibility and pay for anew kitchen .

Make it clear you have offered them the chance to come out and inspect the work and they have refused and you will be using this evidence if this ever comes to small claims court .

PoshWatchShitShoes · 19/11/2021 19:22

That's awful @Crappykitchen. I hope your social media posts shame them into putting this right!!

They should have cleaned up the floor before fitting the units. I'm having a kitchen installed at the moment. We had the screed and tiles laid before the units went in. In any case those legs need to be straight!! I wouldn't be happy at all.

The tiling is shocking too. I really hope they sort it out for you. That's devastating 🍷

Roseyleaf · 19/11/2021 19:24

I'm in the market for a new kitchen. Wickes certainly won't be getting my custom. Not only shoddy work, but shabby customer service. Feeling angry for you, OP.

LawnFever · 19/11/2021 19:24

Wow this is shocking! I can’t believe they’ve had the audacity to try and claim this is ok

Good luck with the CEO and on Twitter, keep on at them, have you paid them?
