AIBU to not answer the door when she arrives?

I have a few unused gift sets that I advertised for free in a local page.

A woman massaged me this morning to ask if they were available? I told her yes and she arranged to collect this evening at 5.45.

6.15 comes and no sign of her so o message to ask if she’s still coming

She replied…

“Chill, I’m just putting petrol in the car”

She’s still not here.

Fucking hate time wasters, especially cheeky ones. I’m tempted not to answer the door if she eventually turns up. What is it with entitled people who think you’ll sit around all evening waiting for them to come!

Ahh I would be tempted to tell her to bugger off.

I’ve been late to collect things I am paying for before. I always send a message apologising and asking if it’s still ok

GreyhoundG1rl · 18/11/2021 19:38

"Chill, I’m just putting petrol in the car”
The cheeky mare!! Don't even contemplate handing her free stuff.

endofagain · 18/11/2021 19:40

Give them to your local food bank or refugee collection point.

Biddie191 · 18/11/2021 19:40

So, did she show up?
I think I'd either, as advised upthread, tell her they've gone, or tell her that you're giving them to someone who will be grateful x

daisydaisy11 · 18/11/2021 19:41

@thepeopleversuswork

God that's rude. I'd bin them and not open the door.
Please don't bin them...what a stupid suggestion. As someone said up thread there are women's shelters who would be happy to have these.
NativityDreaming · 18/11/2021 19:41

I don’t hold free things, I just say first to pick it up gets it.

stevalnamechanger · 18/11/2021 19:42

I find giving people a window works best . I am in between 5/5:30

SchadenfreudePersonified · 18/11/2021 19:44

@Skeumorph

'Soz hun they've gone'

'Wtf, I'm on the way etc.'

'Chill, you snooze you lose'

Grin

As above.

Rinse and repeat.

Bookworm20 · 18/11/2021 19:44

Wow, she said chill?
That would do it for me. No way!

Did she eventually turn up?

Scarydinosaurs · 18/11/2021 19:46

I really hope it was a typo and autocorrect fucked up for her…who would be that rude?

Lightasafly · 18/11/2021 19:48

No show! I’ve messaged and blocked her and told her they are no longer available 🤯.

They’ll go to the local charity shop that helps to fund local children and OAPs etc.

Lesson learned!

PingedPotato · 18/11/2021 19:50

Why on earth would anyone do that? What a complete waste of time.

Theunamedcat · 18/11/2021 19:51

I've literally just had this with a footstool free to collector I put it out for her yesterday messaged her she said she was just waiting for her friend who had an emergency then nothing left it today nothing messaged another woman this afternoon its gone within 15 minutes

Still nothing from the first lady

JustJoinedRightNow · 18/11/2021 19:56

I absolutely hate time wasters, but her “chill” message would have made me so angry!!

TheCreamCaker · 18/11/2021 20:00

The cheeky twat. I'd have told her to fuck right off.

Fredstheteds · 18/11/2021 20:02

We have a great exchange Facebook. It’s great but can be really abused

shinynewapple21 · 18/11/2021 20:07

I would message her to say that you have to go out now - you agreed a time and she didn't turn up and you can't wait any longer

nettie434 · 18/11/2021 20:07

@Lightasafly

Chill!! Indeed!

I couldn’t believe it when I read it. £25 quids worth of nice brand new gift sets. When did people get so rude!!

'Chill' is the shocking bit. She was going to get gift sets for free that she could presumably use for Christmas presents or sell on but she doesn't even have the politeness to apologise for being late.

Could you take them to a local women's shelter?
Triphazards · 18/11/2021 20:11

Free stuff attracts all the nutters.

Better to sell very cheap, rather than for free.

FreeBritnee · 18/11/2021 20:15

The brass neck of some people never fails to surprise me.

SplodgeWaddler · 18/11/2021 20:21

Just give them to charity. I’m sure the foodbanks etc will take them

diddl · 18/11/2021 20:24

Chill??!!

People really say that?

She obviously thinks that she is doing you a favour so it should all be at her convenience!

AdoraBell · 18/11/2021 20:26

“Chill” ? Fuck that OP, she have said Sorry I’m putting petrol in the car.

YANBU

LUCCCY · 18/11/2021 20:34

@MaryAndGerryLivingInDerry

Don’t answer. If she texts to say she’s at the door respond with “chill, I’m on my way to the door” but don’t go Grin
Hahaha these are so funny.
