Who will win Bake off!!!

I am team chiggs all the way but feel like they will give it to crystelle. I think he has had a fantastic year and sort of deserves it more. I know that might be wrong to say.

What are your thoughts

But that's the thing he didn't have a bad week. He came 1st in the technical and had decent comments in the other 2 rounds. I do find it interesting that he did better in the round they didn't know who had baked what I.e. can't adapt the comments to justify his leaving. What is the point in the technical if you can come 1st and still go out when your other 2 rounds weren't failures. Chigs technical round was a mess - how does that justify a place in the final.

GreenTeaPingPong · 17/11/2021 11:24

It was incredibly close but we thought Guiseppe should have gone. He's surely the Bake Off equivalent of the Strictly ringer? (Parents run a bakery.)

I started out finding Crystelle annoying but have warmed to her. She has definitely upped her game, we had thought she would be out last night. I would bet she went to private school as she has that kind of confidence (despite the shock at winning), and it's interesting that a confident and obviously attractive woman attracts such derision from other women on here.
But Hollywood obviously fancies her (as does Noel)!

GreenTeaPingPong · 17/11/2021 11:26

@dreamingbohemian

On Extra Slice last week, Prue said she had no idea the sausage rolls were dropped on the floor before she ate them -- she only learned this now! She did not look happy.
Ooh! Maybe that's why he was out this week (no handshake, etc)!!
WaterAndTheWild · 17/11/2021 11:27

I don't like Chiggs AT ALL - I'm really surprised by all these people wanting him to win!

Crystelle seems fine, I think the final should have been between her, Guiseppe, and Jurgen

steppemum · 17/11/2021 11:30

@DipItAgain

Jurgen was robbed. I'm annoyed they didn't bend the rules and have all four in the final. Smacks of a production decision because the others are more marketable / media friendly.
absolutely.

bloody ridiculous that he went out, he has been the star baker so many times, is obviously the best baker in the tent.

They did this a couple of years ago as well, dropped the clear and best baker in quarter or semi finals.
It makes me wonder if they do it on purpose, so the winner is less obvious.

ScribblingPixie · 17/11/2021 11:33

They all seem really talented, which is great as in previous years some of the finalists have been a bit iffy. I would so love to have tasted the patisseries from last night. Tiramisu with alcoholic raisins - yes!

TellySavalashairbrush · 17/11/2021 11:37

Paul Hollywood definitely needs to go. Another female contestant that he is fawning over (remember crying Ruby) and who decides that he and only he can give out those condescending bloody handshakes?

Jurgen got the push because he was a great baker, but dull as dishwater. I hope Giuseppe or Chigs wins, but am almost certain if the talking groin has his way it will be Crystelle.

StevieNicksscarf · 17/11/2021 11:39

This thread is no good for my blood pressure as I'm still angry!!

I hate the handshake with a passion because it feels like some mind game and is all about Paul's "power" rather than the contestants achievement. It's become so that the comments, especially Prue's comments are insignificant and all that matters is a handshake.

Last night me and DD were plotting a scheme whereby I go on Bake Off, get offered a Hollywood Handshake and decline. The problems with this cunning plan are that a) I would hate to be on tv, b) I would probably not be offered a handshake because I would panic and create a royal mess, and c) if I went through with it they would cut it in the edit.

As you can tell me and DD are way too invested in this #justiceforjurgen Grin

Fifthtimelucky · 17/11/2021 11:45

I was sorry to see Jurgen go, but all four did very well last night and think it must have been incredibly close. I'd have liked them all to go through to the final. I actually like all three remaining competitors and don't really mind who wins now.

Definitely agree with others about how annoying Paul is. Matt is also extremely annoying. That Bowie/Freddie/Elvis bit at the beginning of the show was just stupid. I was glad Prue didn't take part (except to tell them to get on with it )!

I actually fantasise about this Hollywood would offer his hand and I would reach out but then move it out of the way at the last minute and say “HaHa” This is much funnier in my head than written down here
LakieLady · 17/11/2021 12:22

I agree Paul Hollywood needs to go, he's so in love with himself that I'm surprised he hasn't eaten himself. They should have Mary Berry and Prue Leith judging imo.

I don't mind who wins, I like all 3, but for me Chigs has the edge. He's made the most progress imo.

Snoozer11 · 17/11/2021 12:30

Giuseppe did worse than Jurgen last night, though - he did worse in the technical, and didn't have great feedback in the showstopper.

His only real fault was not getting a handshake in the signature. But Prue said she would have given him a handshake!

I really feel that they were all worthy finalists, and so they all should have been put through.

Up until last week I expected Chrystelle to go this week as I think she's been the worst of the final four overall, but I appreciate they couldn't justify giving her the chop this week.

I've really warmed to Prue. At first I thought she was too aloof compared to Mary. But she seems to have softened.

StevieNicksscarf · 17/11/2021 12:32

@Hoppinggreen - glad it's not just me Grin

Universeandeverything · 17/11/2021 12:33

I’m still gutted about Jurgen and definitely thought they would put through all four to the final as it was so close.

As it is, any of them could win the final.

Snoozer11 · 17/11/2021 12:41

I know this will make me sound like a sad twat but I don't like how Chrystelle says "good God" every time something goes wrong.

showmethegin · 17/11/2021 12:52

Nearly every comment about Giuseppe, Jurgen and chiggs on here is about the quality of their baking, and nearly every comment about crystelle is about her being annoying, or how Paul's in love with her cus she's good looking.

How depressing

My children are in primary school and it's a private school and my kids don't have that sort of confidence

My husband was in fits of laughter as she said I would of given him one 😂😂😂

@JadeTrinket Candice with the lipstick! We loved Candice in our house (DH still does I think).

I wonder why so many women don’t seem to like the attractive, talented and perfectly nice Chrystelle 🤔

Shehasadiamondinthesky · 17/11/2021 13:10

Godammit!! I was watching this in bed and missed nearly all of it because I fell asleep. So Jurgen's gone then, sad.

ParkheadParadise · 17/11/2021 13:12

I don't mind if chigs or Priya from enmerdale wins.
Not keen on Giuseppe.

I really like Crystelle but I remember finding Candice ultra irritating.

HadEnough798 · 17/11/2021 13:25

:/ for a primarily female site there's a lot of Crystelle-dissing going on... is it jealousy? If you're 'not keen on Crystelle'... why? She's been the same every week, seems authentic enough to me - and she just happens to be beautiful which is very irrelevant to her baking. Whatever happened to supporting other women?

Paul literally said her showstopper was flawless and her signature exceptional last night... Her place in the final is hardly un-deserved!

AmyDudley · 17/11/2021 13:33

I like Chrystelle, I don't find her annoying at all. I'm sad Jurgen went last night but I don;t think it should have been Chrystelle instead - she did very well last night.
And I don;t find her lack of confidence fake. Lots of people are actually very good at things but don't realise how good they are (just as some people are a bit crap at things but think they are much better than they are) - and she has been near the bottom for a few weeks, so she probably felt she was the most likely to go last night and was shocked when she did well. She upped her game - good for her, I think she's funny and a nice person.

I just wish they could all have gone though as I thought it was pretty level last night. But Jurgen said he wasn't as shocked as everyone else - maybe there had been rumblings about SausageRollgate. I can't stand Paul - it is him that will stop me watching in the future, he is so full of it.
