I am team chiggs all the way but feel like they will give it to crystelle. I think he has had a fantastic year and sort of deserves it more. I know that might be wrong to say.

What are your thoughts

No worries! I've been ruminating far more than I should have about Paul H bullying Jergen and Prus wet comment about the handshake

Cofifeefee · 19/11/2021 11:51

It does no good to expect women to unconditionally like/support ALL other women

Nobody is saying you need to support all women but you're judging a woman on her personality (her edited for tv personality at that) when the men just get judged on their baking skills.

I don't see how anybody can decide she's fake - you don't know her! As for "amateur dramatics"? What does that mean? She's not meek enough for you? She shouldn't show her happiness, should keep herself quiet and not draw attention to herself? But sure, it's not about misogyny.

As myself and others have said they would find a man doing the same over the top reactions to everything equally annoying then you are correct it’s not about misogyny
Cofifeefee · 19/11/2021 11:59

over the top reactions

What is the definition of over the top reactions? How should the woman change herself in order to get people to like her and judge her on her baking skills on a baking show? Her reaction has nothing to do with her skills but yet people don't want her to win because they consider her too loud.

Kikkomam · 19/11/2021 12:02

I think it's fair enough to say her reactions are a bit over the top! She's a great baker but I'm a bit worried that she might actually collapse if she wins.

Hoppinggreen · 19/11/2021 12:15

I don’t consider her loud at all and if she’s the best baker in the final she will deserve to win.
I just find a person (of any sex) half collapsing on the floor because a man shook their hand a bit dramatic.
It’s personal preference, I enjoyed Jurgens quiet but confident reactions much more.

lockdownalli · 19/11/2021 12:41

It's really quite offensive to label people misogynistic because they don't like one woman.

My favourites were Freya and Lizzie. But they are gone now Sad and of the remaining three I like Crystelle the least. I am judging her on her perceived personality as well as her baking, in exactly the same way I judge the men thanks very much.

Totally agree with this As myself and others have said they would find a man doing the same over the top reactions to everything equally annoying then you are correct it’s not about misogyny

Footprintsinthegrass · 19/11/2021 12:47

I judge all of them on personality and likeabily to, not just the women. Chiggs seems absolutely lovely! I think he should be the only one who shows massive surprise when the judges say he's done well

Crystel is a good Baker, she clearly bakes a lot. You really wouldn't experiment with all the weird flavours, they're obviously tried and tested on family which is why I think her reactions are OTT

BridesmaidHelp · 19/11/2021 13:22

Tbf it’s potentially life changing just being in the final so maybe that’s why she is so overwhelmed. I think probably would be.

TopTabby · 19/11/2021 13:42

Absolutely fuming that Paul was the only one allowed to give out his (frankly pathetic) handshakes when it was PRU'S technical?
I'd have over ruled that if I was her!

His handshakes were all given for the signature, though, not the technical. (I agree it's rubbish not to have an equivalent, though.)
londonmummy1966 · 19/11/2021 13:59

I don't understand the attitudes to Chrystelle on here. Frankly she was robbed in the technical - she lost out purely because she didn't know that the sable base shouldn't have sides. The judges said that it was well baked whereas Jurgens was the right shape and overbaked. Also Jurgen said he knew what the sable should look like at the start of the technical but didn't share the information when the others were talking about it (which is not very GBBO really).

One PP said her centrepiece was simplistic - she made meringue and piped it beautifully into flowers - arguably it was more demanding than Jurgen's.

TBH I think Jurgen underperformed last week as well and to my mind he can come across as a bit smug - calling himself the Jurgenator etc

Aderyn21 · 19/11/2021 14:24

Most people were rooting for Jurgen and there’s almost 100% agreement that he was robbed and that PH behaved like a knob towards him.
This could bite C4 in the arse - very few people are almost universally liked and respected. Jurgen was one of them - I think his quiet talent could have been very marketable.
I like the remaining contestants but I think a lot of people were quite emotionally invested in Jurgen so don’t feel that strongly about any of the rest.

WhatHoMarjorie · 19/11/2021 14:30

I thought Jurgen seemed nice enough and was a very good baker. He'd lost the momentum of the early weeks though and I don't think he was robbed.

Innocenta · 19/11/2021 14:59

@Aderyn21 There's far from 100% agreement.

Aderyn21 · 19/11/2021 15:14

Judging from this thread, it seems most people consider that Jurgen was unfairly treated.

I didn’t see this episode by the ‘sharing information’ point is interesting — I think earlier this series when we got a quick close-up of one baker’s recipe leaflet for the technical, it specifically said on the top, in capitals, DO NOT CONFER WITH OTHER BAKERS. Otherwise, presumably, they’d all pool information and the results would be more homogenous.

Oh dear, of course it was the signature! Think I got a bit carried awayGrin

notthemum · 22/11/2021 19:06

@Dreaming and running. Sorry if I got my bakers mixed up. Disappointed that juerken would do that. However still stand by my view. Cannot bear Christelle and would have preferred her to have left. Nothing to do with her looks at all.
Maybe as an extra twist they could bring Juerkan back for next week.
Pauls behaviour was just bloody mean.

Figmentofmyimagination · 22/11/2021 22:01

Why does every one of her bakes have to have some backstory about her grandmother? Enough with the grandmother stories. Can’t believe Juergen has gone.

Teaandlipstick · 23/11/2021 16:32

@showmethegin no doubt she is good but she has repeated her flower decorations throughout the series.

Eleganz · 23/11/2021 16:44

@Aderyn21

Judging from this thread, it seems most people consider that Jurgen was unfairly treated.
I don't see it as the massive injustice that some do even though Paul was a bit of knob to Jürgen in the one bake. I thought all 4 were excellent and it must have been a very close call to pick any of them to leave.

Crystelle seemed to be a bit of a one trick (miso) pony in the earlier rounds but her performance in the semi was great as was Chigs who stepped it up a gear as well.

My favourite for the title is Guiseppe as he has been so consistently good throughout that I think he has the best chance of coping with whatever they throw at them in the final.

IsFuzzyBeagMise · 23/11/2021 16:55

The remaining finalists are all good bakers and seem to be lovely people. I wish them well! I don't have a favourite to win tonight.

Jürgen stood out for me as being the best baker. He is so skilful. Head and shoulders above the rest.

lollipoprainbow · 23/11/2021 19:10

Just caught up on last weeks poor Juergen that was so uncalled for. So much for 'be kind' !!

Yamayo · 23/11/2021 20:03

I think Jurgen peaked early and the Chigs and Crystelle upped their game as the show went on.
I actually quite like Crystelle she seems a little blunt and OTT, but in a good way.
She was clearly distraught when Lizzie went out and appears to get on v well with the rest of the bakers.
Chigs seems to be a sound guy too.
Out of the 3 my fave is Giuseppe because he genuinely comes across as lovely.
Unpopular opinion but I did think Jurgen was a little smug- and whenever other bakers were having issues he never looked sympathetic or tried to help.
