Is it really that bad - Tesco Advert

People on Twitter are calling for a boycott of Tesco because of this ad

Apparently it's a political message of medical apartheid.

AIBU to think it's one small scene in an advert referencing last years lack of Christmas? FWIW I'm not crazy about Tesco in general and I don't think people should be coerced into medical treatments they are unhappy to take..... but seriously is this advert worth a boycott?

I like the bit where someone saves carrots by using a bottle in case there's stock shortages. It's good to have an ad that links to the year.

MrsTumbletap · 14/11/2021 18:57

@Landof you are spot on with that one. Anti Vaxxers probably won't like it. But oh well!

PingedPotato · 14/11/2021 18:58

The bit with the plane and the red and green lights "Just go!" Made me chuckle! I missed that bit!

00100001 · 14/11/2021 18:58

@whymewhyme

Im double vaccinated but it think the covid pass should of been left out, i see it as them trying to normalise them.
...they are normal...
WowIlikereallyhateyou · 14/11/2021 18:58

Clearly the professionally offended have taken things to heart. Too much time on their hands.

ChequerBoard · 14/11/2021 18:59

TBH if the anti-Vaxxers are going to boycott Tesco's then I am going to start shopping there!

nancy75 · 14/11/2021 18:59

Oh no, where will all the anti vaxxers buy the tin foil for their new hats now they can’t go to Tesco?
What a thing to get worked up about, it shows just how ridiculous these people are.

JenniferAllisonPhillipaSue · 14/11/2021 18:59

I can't see what all the fuss is about. To me, Santa's Covid pass is a response to last year's concerns from children as to whether Santa could still visit during lockdown.

GinIronic · 14/11/2021 19:04

Medical apartheid - 😂😂😂😂😂

No, they shouldn't HAVE

It's perfectly normal. Plus Santa is from Lapland so he needs proof to get into our airspace

FOJN · 14/11/2021 19:05

I'm often quite critical of the big supermarket chains and I'm a bit bah humbug about Christmas but I think that's a great ad, it has a real sense of fun.

ArchibaldsDaddy · 14/11/2021 19:05

Good. Hopefully, we all know how to avoid the anti-vax weirdos now.

Definitely shopping at Tesco this winter…

Bloodypunkrockers · 14/11/2021 19:06

Yes. With all the loons boycotting, it's a win for normal people

Starlightstarbright1 · 14/11/2021 19:07

My thoughts exactly
BananaPB · 14/11/2021 19:09

I thought it was a fun ad and very relatable after last year.

The Covid pass might help in households where kids have travelled and know that adults had to show a Covid pass. Remember BJ wrote a letter last Christmas to a child suggesting that he left some hand sanitiser for Father Christmas when he visited

Thethreecs · 14/11/2021 19:09

I really like it. It's cheery, funny and it's ALOT better than what has been released so far. There's some uproar about the McDonald's one too, not sure why, it's OK nothing offensive.

dementedpixie · 14/11/2021 19:10

You should go on twitter and search for tesco Christmas ad. Lots of bonkers comments about breaking the Nuremberg code

godmum56 · 14/11/2021 19:10

@dementedpixie

It's because Santa has a covid pass so anti vaxxers are getting worked up about it
but JVT said last year thet he would make sure that santa got his vac....I mean JVT himself said it
Flaxmeadow · 14/11/2021 19:10

Its fun and lively.
Makes a change from the rest of the maudlin hand wringing worthiness

supermoonrising · 14/11/2021 19:11

I think the Covid Pass thing in the ad is pretty shitty to be honest. Whatever the rights or wrongs of some people choosing not to get vaccinated, it always feels incredibly cheap when companies appropriate social/political issues which have absolutely nothing to do with their business. Besides that, I don’t think Covid is a “fun” thing to be reminded of at Christmas or in an otherwise lighthearted throwaway Christmas ad.

Oh just googled it! It's so sweet!
ImprobablePuffin · 14/11/2021 19:14

One quote in the article says "OMG screaming in fear"

Fucking come on.

supermoonrising · 14/11/2021 19:16

“The anti-vaxxers love it to“

Millions of people who are now labelled anti vaxxers are no such thing. They are pro vaccines for themselves/their families. But they are against people being mandated or coerced into injecting themselves with a new vaccine/drug by national governments and Big Pharm. It’s a slippery slope to go down.

2pinkginsplease · 14/11/2021 19:17

I’ve been reading some of the tweets on twitter… some people really do get their knickers in a knot over nothing!

All the drama of a school playground over an advert 😂😂😂😂😂

Tesco’s job is done, they have got people talking about them which is the whole point of an advert.

GreyhoundG1rl · 14/11/2021 19:18

Oh, give over. Anyone who makes a choice not to accept the vaccine is free to make that choice, but calling any allusion to the COVID passport "shitty" on the back of that choice is pretty fucking dumb.
