Roasted with olive oil, salt and pepper for 10-15 mins on high

It’s freaking amazing and I never knew little trees could taste this good!

Just replying to the OP - my former broccoli refusing 15 year old now requires roast broccoli at every meal!

ZingDramaQueenOfSheeba · 12/11/2021 09:22

you should all try breaded, deep fried cauliflower. it's amazing

Pbbananabagel · 12/11/2021 16:36

@Pippi1970 my 2 year old is still suspicious but I have hope now Smile

@pompomsgalore

Also cut the broccoli 40 mins before cooking to allow all chemical reactions to complete before the cooking process starts. This keeps in the nutrients even if boiled and microwaved.
cutting your broccoli and letting it rest is better nutrition wise?
smoothieooo · 12/11/2021 17:25

I can’t eat plain, boiled broccoli any more. I now simmer for 2 mins, plunge into cold water, then stir fry with olive oil, garlic, chilli flakes and a dash of soy sauce. Bloody delicious (and I never thought I’d say that about any type of green veg)!

Callipygion · 12/11/2021 17:25

@rslsys

Just a heads up. If you want sprouts like your granny used to make for Christmas dinner, they should have been on to boil a fortnight ago .. .
This is how I like mine! I blame my mother that’s how she cooked them.
Carpedimum · 12/11/2021 17:33

Absolutely! Roasting is the way to go! Even radish, I promise you they’re lovely roasted.

Lndnmummy · 12/11/2021 17:36

Shave some parmesan on top too!

muddyford · 12/11/2021 17:52

Brussels sprouts the same way....Mmmmm.

Not just granny, my mother slso

BookFiend4Life · 12/11/2021 18:04

I like to toss with a little sesame oil and soy sauce before roasting, so good!

pompomsgalore · 12/11/2021 18:10

@StrychnineInTheSandwiches

This explains the science behind cutting broccoli then leaving it rest before cooking it.

Wow! Sounds delicious. We’ll try it.

KissedintheDark · 12/11/2021 18:13

Especially if you roast it round a chicken.....utter heaven !

Ooh, now you're talking.
Why has no one told me about this before... fuckers!

HesterLee · 12/11/2021 18:16

How long do you roast the broccoli for please?

iklboo · 12/11/2021 18:33

I was never keen on broccoli or cauliflower. Then I roasted some. Game changer!

Mamanyt · 12/11/2021 18:34

Batter-dipped, oven-fried green beans. Asparagus bundles wrapped in (American) bacon and baked. Brussels sprouts cut in half-length wise, then sautéed in bacon drippings with slivered almonds.

Georgyporky · 12/11/2021 18:35

@immersivereader

Does it make you fart less?
How vulgar ! We're all laydees here and therefore do not f**t.
Marchingredsoldiers · 12/11/2021 18:36

Embarassed to ask but does it work with frozen broccoli?

Christmas1988 · 12/11/2021 18:38

No, baked in a parcel of grease proof paper with a table spoon of sesame oil and five teaspoons of water, that’s the way to cook perfect broccoli.

No need to be embarrassed - frozen veg often has a higher nutrient content than that bought in supermarkets. And it’s cost effective with no waste. I’ve always got a selection of veg in the freezer.

Yes, it works very well with frozen broccoli, and with frozen cauliflower too. Just cook it a little longer until it dries out a bit more - in fact I quite often prefer frozen cauliflower florets roasted because they don’t get too crispy (although I like the crisp quality of the fresh stuff too).

Newbabynewhouse · 12/11/2021 18:57

@Cocomarine

Dip it into it!

MyPOV · 12/11/2021 19:06

You really need to do this in an air fryer if you love it from the oven. It is even better. I fight over the broccoli 🥦 with my kids. 😄

MrsJackWhicher · 12/11/2021 19:07

Oooooh -fab thanks - I think I love you Grin
