Roasted with olive oil, salt and pepper for 10-15 mins on high

It’s freaking amazing and I never knew little trees could taste this good!

I love broccolli and I love asparagus. Saving for tips Grin

SpookyPumpkinPants · 11/11/2021 21:06

@Howshouldibehave

That sounds tasty! No boiling/steaming at all first?
God no, just chop and put on a oven tray with olive oil drizzled/sprayed/brushed/poured over

If you chop it so one side is flattish you get a lovely roasted bit, then turn over (shake about) pit back in the oven.

Sexnotgender · 11/11/2021 21:06

Love roasted broccoli and cauliflower. I steal all the super burnt bits before I serve it as they’re the best bits. I’m not sorry.

Pbbananabagel · 11/11/2021 21:06

I’ve always thought I hated cauliflower I’m trying it this way asap Shock
Just can’t get over how easy and delicious it is, how did this take me 35 years to find out?!

Pbbananabagel · 11/11/2021 21:07

@PinkiOcelot high on my oven is around 200 but it runs hot so on cooler ovens might be more like 220- fast and furious does it better than low and slow

VerbenaGirl · 11/11/2021 21:08

We had that for dinner tonight! Sometimes we fling on some chilli flakes as well.

Pumpkinsonparade · 11/11/2021 21:10

Broccoli and asparagus on a griddle with lemon juice and feta.
Shock

CovidPassQuestion · 11/11/2021 21:11

Thanks @SpookyPumpkinPants Smile

Thatsplentyjack · 11/11/2021 21:11

Nope, they are too bitter when roasted. Boiled broccoli everytime for me. I love the stuff.

CovidPassQuestion · 11/11/2021 21:12

OMG @Pumpkinsonparade! Now you're talking...

Prattypitel · 11/11/2021 21:12

Pbbananabagel · 11/11/2021 21:17

@ivykaty44 I genuinely do not know, my mum was an amazing cook and my husband is a trained chef. I have not a stalk to stand on here.

What form do you add the garlic with broccoli? As slivers or cloves or something else? If I tried roasting garlic (apart from the whole head it burns.

5128gap · 11/11/2021 21:18

Try sesame oil.

BewareTheBeardedDragon · 11/11/2021 21:18

Warn your family first - I ate broccoli and Brussels sprouts at lunchtime, and roasted cauliflower at tea time and things are a little windy chez dragon tonight... Blush
willstarttomorrow · 11/11/2021 21:18

I was veggie for many years and ordered broccoli with garlic in a chinese in Manhattan about 20 plus years ago. It is food from the gods.
I also had the misfortune to spend a year in the cultural wilderness that is northampton at around the same time. There was a tiny, family run balti house which did a mushroom and garlic balti (full garlic bulbs- amazing naan bread). I have lived in Leeds/Bradford area now for over 20 years so no stranger to good curry. That balti has never been surpassed.

MsHedgehog · 11/11/2021 21:19

I’ve always cooked broccoli (and other vegetables) with seasoning, garlic, etc. I never ever understood why people simply boil / steam and serve as is!

Pbbananabagel · 11/11/2021 21:20

@5128gap
Fm. YES that sounds amazing, with soy sauce too.

rslsys · 11/11/2021 21:20

Just a heads up. If you want sprouts like your granny used to make for Christmas dinner, they should have been on to boil a fortnight ago .. .

JaffavsCookie · 11/11/2021 21:21

(Whispers) I didn’t know this either @Pbbananabagel and i am a pretty keen cook
Will try it tomorrow night with some cauliflower, thanks

CherryRedDMs · 11/11/2021 21:22

Spread hummus over the cauliflower then roast it and cut slices.
Do not eat a whole cauliflower. I didn’t stop because it’s healthy but it had an agonizing digestive impact.

bippityboppity87 · 11/11/2021 21:23

I love broccoli. Even better, broccoli and cheese and a lot ground pepper 😋

ColourHex · 11/11/2021 21:27

Cooks really well in an air fryer as well. Olive oil, paprika and garlic salt - 12mins for broccoli and cauliflower 20mins for carrots. So much nicer than boiled :)

5128gap · 11/11/2021 21:27

And a little sprinkle of Chinese five spice!
