Richmond sausages

Landof · 11/11/2021 17:51

So tea tonight is: mash, Richmond sausages, brocolli, one small Yorkshire pudding and gravy.

Question: how many Richmond sausages?

OP posts:
yourestandingonmyneck · 11/11/2021 21:40

@NeedsCharging

3 of the thick ones 4 of the thin ones.

For all those who instead of answering chose to just insult the OPS sausage choice have a bloody word with yourself!

I suppose your sausages cost £22 from Waitrose and are made from pigs hand reared on truffles Hmm

My thoughts exactly.

This site is just full of people trying to make others feel shit Sad

@BarbaraofSeville

a 'man' gets a bigger portion? why

Most men eat more than most women. DP and I generally select our portions according to how much food we want to eat. I will eat two or three sausages. He will have at least 3 or 4 and larger portions of sides too.

If I eat the amount he eats, I will be uncomfortably full and gain weight. If he ate the amount I want to eat, he will be permanently hungry. On average I'd say he eats about 50-100% more than what I do. I would expect this to be typical for most male/female couples.

right...so do restaurants do this as well then?
BarbaraofSeville · 11/11/2021 21:53

Of course they don't. But if we go out to a restaurant, if they serve us both the same plate of food, he will eat all of his, and I will be taking half of mine home for lunch the next day. Same for a takeaway, he eats all his in one go, mine does two meals.

Or if the portions are smaller, he will also get a starter or a pudding in addition to his main, and I'll just have a main, which I probably won't eat all of and will leave some or DP will finish it off.

EinsteinaGogo · 11/11/2021 21:56

@ODFOgrinch

Are they fat sausages or thin ones?

If fat ones: 4 for a man, 3 for a woman, 2 for a child, one for a toddler.

I love the definite nature of this post!!

PurpleDaisies · 11/11/2021 22:06

No. But eating out makes up a tiny proportion of my overall diet. It’s what you’re eating every day that makes you fat or not, not a few bigger meals now and again.

AnCailleachOiche · 11/11/2021 22:15

None. They are the worst sausages in terms of Heath. Full of fat , cholesterol and not much else.

applechips · 11/11/2021 22:27

Just wanted to chime back in to those accusing me of being a snob and ‘not thinking of the poor’ - I grew up poor, working class background and then parents out of work, so I am all too familiar with budget food - it doesn’t change the fact that Richmond sausages are utter shite. (And there are cheaper ones with more meat content out there )

For the ‘smooth’ sausage fans check out Sainsbury’s taste the difference smooth sausages - bloomin’ lovely bangers!

hartof · 11/11/2021 22:35

Ooh I had sausage and mash tonight! I had the Asda extra special Lincolnshire sausage (I actually look forward to winter all year for this meal) and I had 3. They are the best but I see Richmond as a breakfast sausage.

NeedsCharging · 11/11/2021 22:40

Actually apple your last post just makes you sound like a twat.

You "know" what it's like to be poor but aren't now so will ridicule the poor anyway.
As I pointed out Asda frozen sausages have 10% less pork than Richmond sausages.

Just answer the damn question of how many sausages and leave the snobbery to one side.

JazzyBBG · 11/11/2021 22:41

2 for me, I love Richmond and say that as someone who didn't eat sausage for years and is really picky. The good thing about them is they don't have a horrible thick chewy skin. Yes they are quite macerated/soft inside but far less grainy than cheap ones like Walls. They have a parfait consistency 🤣

Rekorderlig88 · 11/11/2021 22:42

Typical manet people immediately sausage bashing.
I like them as I like the smooth texture always find gridtly and lumps in posh ones.

BarbaraofSeville · 11/11/2021 22:47

Why is it snobbish and twatty to not want to eat sausages with really low meat content and loads of rubbishy fillers when you can spend the same money on something half decent?

Lightswitch123 · 11/11/2021 22:49

Yuck. Sorry. But they are just cancer sticks. Eat veggie or a less processed sausage.

VestaTilley · 11/11/2021 22:49

I used to love them growing up- they taste like sausages should; the decent ones are somehow too meaty. But I can’t eat them as I’m coeliac, and the low meat content puts me off.

I’d have suggested 3.

Yes. Typical Mamet people.

Here’s one of his most famous paintings depicting a couple arguing about sausages.

Manet. Not Mamet. He was just an unfortunate typo.

NeedsCharging · 11/11/2021 22:53

It's not.
What is twatish s to tell a poster who didn't ask "rate my sausage choice" that you wouldn't feed them to a dog, the are vile, disgusting....
What if they are what she likes or all she can afford?
I tend not to judge others food choices as its either what they like or all they can afford. Your a twat either way if you judge.

2X4B523P · 12/11/2021 00:32

42% pork, that’s a meaty mouthful! We like Heck and Jolly hog but we haven’t tried Richmondses before. Are they soft? Are they juicy? Do we eats them whole?

Wingedharpy · 12/11/2021 00:37

If you're barbecuing them - 1 whole packet each!
They're lovely cold too.

Franticbutterfly · 12/11/2021 00:52

You know there is no actual meat in them right?

drigon · 12/11/2021 00:58

Yes, they are shite tbh, but I still like them as a taste of childhood. I like cooking them in my BBQ sauce and having them with cheese in a buttered (tiger) roll. Yummy, but not healthy or particularly wholesome!

None get some decent sausages!
PinkSyCo · 12/11/2021 01:04

You know the meat content of the sausages are not what the OP was asking opinions on right?

RainbowMum11 · 12/11/2021 01:15

Meat content is way too low for me, but if we had proper sausages then me and DD would have 2 each.
