Richmond sausages

Landof · 11/11/2021 17:51

So tea tonight is: mash, Richmond sausages, brocolli, one small Yorkshire pudding and gravy.

Question: how many Richmond sausages?

OP posts:
Coulddowithanap · 12/11/2021 08:05

@DillonPanthersTexas

The fact that they are made out of lips, ears and arseholes would be enough for me not to eat them, add the fact that they have the texture of playdoh and the anaemic colour of a two day old cadaver just makes them completely off the menu.
At least they use the whole pig!

I actually think they taste good.

SexyNeckbeard · 12/11/2021 09:40

Ooh lovely I think this thread has surpassed itself. We've had ridiculing of people on a low budget, saying the sausages aren't fit to be fed to dogs, an attempt at pointing out sexism where no sexist. One poster not possibly being able to finish off an average sized meal in a restaurant and to top it all off, if we don't raise and slaughter our own pigs then we buy cheap watery crappy meat and don't care about animal welfare.

Off to buy some pigs. Or Richmond sausages. Fancy a bit of macerated eyelid for breakfast.

AnCailleachOiche · 12/11/2021 11:55

The amount of fat that comes out of Richmond sausages as they cook 🤢

DilemmaDelilah · 12/11/2021 13:10

I love Richmond sausages! And yes - I am aware that they probably don't have much real meat in, but they also don't have too much pepper and they're not herby ( 2 things I hate) so I think they are delicious. Eleventy squillion billion would be enough for me 😁. Seriously though - 3 or 4 for me, but I wouldn't have Yorkshire puddings which are the food of the devil 😵

xxxGirlCrushxxx · 12/11/2021 13:14

I'm STILL confused at the male/female ratio

I'm same size and stature as dp and I work a physical job and he's behind a desk all day!

I'm having 4, Sod it!

SecretKeeper1 · 12/11/2021 13:27

”but I wouldn't have Yorkshire puddings which are the food of the devil”

Excuse me? Clearly whatever’s in that other 58% of a Richmond has affected your tastebuds Grin

Belledan1 · 12/11/2021 13:41

We like Richmond. Think the frozen ones cook more easy and even in the oven.Cook them on a rack. Not a massive sausage lover though rather bacon

MaryShelley1818 · 12/11/2021 13:46

@NeedsCharging

3 of the thick ones 4 of the thin ones.

For all those who instead of answering chose to just insult the OPS sausage choice have a bloody word with yourself!

I suppose your sausages cost £22 from Waitrose and are made from pigs hand reared on truffles Hmm

I agree with every single thing you said 😊
PigletJohn · 12/11/2021 15:34

None of us are obliged to pretend to like Richmond sausages

And I am pleased to say that own-brand can be cheaper, as well as better.

remember with a low-meat sausage like Richmond, you are paying for the bread and water they put in to make up the weight, as well as the added fat that cooks out.

NeedsCharging · 12/11/2021 15:40

None of us are obliged to pretend to like Richmond sausages

Nobody said anyone was.
All that was asked is that posters stop shaming the OP or anyone else that likes that brand of sausage.

BarbaraofSeville · 12/11/2021 15:47

If the OP didn't want people to take issue with Richmond sausages, she could have not mentioned the brand.

She did ask 'how many Richmond sausages' to which most people said none because they don't buy sausages that have less than half meat and over half cheap fillers. You can get sausages with a lot more meat in for similar money, so it's not about people only being able to afford low quality sausages.

NeedsCharging · 12/11/2021 15:56

I would think the brand was mentioned as Richmond are very thin quite small sausages so asking how many will be based on the size of the sausages.

Fact is should poster be ridiculing her regardless of why she mentioned the brand?
Why are you trying to justify posters acting like snobbish twats?

On average, men are bigger with more muscle than women. That gives them a higher calorie requirement. Obviously that’s not going to be true for every single man/woman but across a large number it will. If dh and I eat the same, I put weight on. I like sausages so I just have less mash.
YesIamTHATmum · 12/11/2021 17:35

This thread is actually ridiculous but it's so entertaining Grin

maddy68 · 12/11/2021 17:37

Richmond definitely are not a sausage. They're just full of gloop.

labazslovesliving · 12/11/2021 17:56

4 for partner and 4 Quorn for me

Maybefamous · 12/11/2021 17:57

I have 2. DH 5 or more if he could. DS 4. We have to get 2 packets

Maybefamous · 12/11/2021 17:58

My family love Richmond. I personally can take or leave them 😀

DillonPanthersTexas · 12/11/2021 18:01

a 'man' gets a bigger portion? why??

Patriarchy, internalised misogyny, men hate women and portion control is just another tool of oppression.

What? I’m talking about my own household where I had to battle to serve me less food.

Men and women have different calorie requirements in general. Nothing to do with depriving anyone of their right to eat the same.

If I was in a restaurant or eating at someone’s house, I wouldn’t expect to be served less.

Give over NeedsCharging

You are just trying to pick a bun fight.

Not having money for food long term makes you more conscious about nutrition content, and very wary of filling up on junk food.

And Richmond sausages are junk food, theres far better low cost meals out there.
