Richmond sausages

Landof · 11/11/2021 17:51

So tea tonight is: mash, Richmond sausages, brocolli, one small Yorkshire pudding and gravy.

Question: how many Richmond sausages?

Universeandeverything · 11/11/2021 19:13

Richmond sausages are the only ones I like. I prefer them to posh ones. However reading that list of pork content I am definitely put off.

Heckythump1 · 11/11/2021 19:13

Richmond sausages are so bad there good, they're my favourite! :P I'd happily have 3 or 4!

wheninroma · 11/11/2021 19:15

Why are you posting about this OP? Sausage numbers?

Hideous things anyway.

Powerpotpie · 11/11/2021 19:15

None! Save your money for really good quality sausages which means better welfare for the pigs and better quality and nutrition for you and maybe think about packing the week out with some plant based meals.

EffOrfagain · 11/11/2021 19:15

I think the Richmond ones are a bit smaller than the Tesco finest or M&S packs that are 2 for £5 that we have.

The more OP names Richmond sausages in her posts, the more suspicious I am that this thread is a covert shit sausage advert Grin

EffOrfagain · 11/11/2021 19:18

The expensive ones just have more pork in which probably isn't that healthy to eat anyway, pork is quite fatty however much you pay for it

Snoods · 11/11/2021 19:18

3 if no spuds on the plate…
2 with mash and veg

TalkSomeSense20 · 11/11/2021 19:18

@NeedsCharging

Ffs there are threads on here about food poverty. Parents genuinely struggling to feed their children balanced meals or infant meals at all and so many sealioning mumsnetter crowing about "giving to food banks" and "helping the poor" who then ridicule people who are buying what they view as cheap food so bad they wouldn't feed it to their dog!

You should be fucking ashamed.
Answer the OPS question don't post to belittle her.

I think food poverty doesn't mean buying something that barely qualifies as a sausage. Why mention 'Richmond Sausages' rather than just sausages if you weren't intending to invite opinion on the choice of product?? It would be the same as me saying I was going to wash up seven greasy roasting tins with Fairy Liquid and how much should I add to the water?? Everyone is going to have an opinion on Fairy Liquid.

Plus - the desire for 'cheap' meat is a whole conversation in itself. Why not skip the crap, fatty sausages and think properly about what you buy? I raise pigs and make sausages myself and know I would much rather not have any meat with my meals than eat poorly raised, water filled anything that I wasn't sure about.

BadwordMcGee · 11/11/2021 19:19

@JurgensCakeBaby

None they are vile
I agree
DobbyTheHouseElk · 11/11/2021 19:19

I have 3 veggie ones. They are the nicest veggie sausages out there.

NeedsCharging · 11/11/2021 19:20

Well done Rugs for any person/parent struggling who cannot afford butchers sausages or more expensive sausages ( Richmond tend to be on offer a lot) you have likened them to dogs.

I hope that your post made you feel superior.

VienneseWhirligig · 11/11/2021 19:21

I like a Richmond sausage, they don't give me heartburn like the meatier ones. I would have 2 but DS would have 3 usually if not 4.

ShirleyPhallus · 11/11/2021 19:22

@Libertaire

None.

I would think twice about feeding Richmond sausages to my dog.

At my table, we eat sausages which are 90% meat, not 42%. 🤮

Gawd love MN
HopingForOurRainbowBaby · 11/11/2021 19:23

I could probably eat 4 of them. I love Richmond sausages. Well actually they're the only ones I do like

HopingForOurRainbowBaby · 11/11/2021 19:24

@tillytoodles1

They're my favourite sausages.
Mine too
HopingForOurRainbowBaby · 11/11/2021 19:28

@GertrudeBElion

I imagine it's because they are cheap and lots of people are on very limited budgets and they can't afford meaty sausages

I'd say most basic supermarket sausages are cheaper but contain almost twice as much meat .

This is why I buy them. Especially given a bag of 20 frozen ones costs a few quid at the most
Tilltheend99 · 11/11/2021 19:31

The Richmond meat free sausages are pretty much the best sausages ever. 3

Landof · 11/11/2021 19:32

@knittingaddict what?! I mentioned Richmond because of the size. All sausages are different sizes which is why I mentioned the make lol

dozyjosie36 · 11/11/2021 19:33

Such sausage snobbery on this thread!

Fwiw I love a cheap pink sausage! Or a battered saveloy. Yum.

EdgeOfTheSky · 11/11/2021 19:34

Another Richmond Refusenik but generally, 2 fat sausages.

oldandscunnered · 11/11/2021 19:34

3 for me. Absolutely love Richmond Sausages. I hate a meaty sausage and would never get them out of the butchers. I know they are full or rubbish but I like them.

Tilltheend99 · 11/11/2021 19:34

@DobbyTheHouseElk

I have 3 veggie ones. They are the nicest veggie sausages out there.
I’m glad someone agrees!

I also tried their facan (meat free bacon) today and it was also very good.

BeepBoopBop · 11/11/2021 19:35

@applechips

I cannot understand how they are so popular, they are utterly grim. Get some nice proper meaty sausage and you will only need a sensible portion then, rather than filling up on rusk and the other shite that’s in Richmond.

Exactly this ^
