How often do you deep clean your house all the way through?

Firstly, AIBU to be totally fed up of cleaning?!
My house is not a tip (I don't think!) but I have just spent 2 whole days cleaning it from top to bottom and it's still not finished. Twice a year I usually deep clean all the way through- things such as touch up paint, clean rugs/sofa/carpet with a professional carpet cleaner, scrub the whites around the windows, pull beds/furniture out and clean behind. I also spent at least an hour cleaning every day without the bigger jobs such as changing beds, cleaning blinds/windows etc. It honestly feels like a complete never ending task. Me and DH have been cleaning for the last two days in preparation for Christmas (last bit of annual leave before we put our tree up). I really wish I had a cleaner.

Never.
I hoover for 5 minutes a day. We have a hoover hung up in the cupboard on its charger so it's literally grab and go. I load the dishwasher daily. I do the washing 2/3 times a week. Wipe the sides take a minute. Every so often I'll wipe the doors. I wipe the bathroom bits at a time. I'm not spending my life cleaning.

LaurieFairyCake · 11/11/2021 16:57

Yep someone else does it when I sell and move

I barely clean, never mind deep clean

Beahappy2a · 11/11/2021 17:17

I clean everyday, on-top of the house the entire time, under beds, under sideboard will be done monthly, around the windows could be weekly or monthly depending on whether they need cleaning.

TSSDNCOP · 11/11/2021 17:29

Just did it. Took 3 days, but it's immaculate and now I only need to do a couple of hours tops a week. I will do it again at Easter time.

3 days Shock.

Why though?

TSSDNCOP · 11/11/2021 18:05

Well, because i like to take care of my home and possessions that I've spent lots of money on. I don't like clutter. I like to know that because I've done it I can reduce the amount of time I spend a week to the minimum, and I'm not faced with a clean on a weekend. I like to know that when I have visitors I can welcome them anytime without having to do a mad clean/boot everything behind sofas and in cupboards.

I bet I spend a lot less time cleaning per week than most folk as a result.

PatientlyWaiting21 · 11/11/2021 18:11

You guys must all live in mansions if it takes you a couple of hours to clean 🤣

Starcaller · 11/11/2021 18:15

We do a room rota system too. And we share it. If you both go hell for leather for 20 mins you can get so much done,

We go through each room Monday-Friday then weekends are for no housework. A load of laundry every day or second day, dishwasher on every night, robot hoover goes round every day.

The biggest thing is decluttering. If you have stuff that has nowhere to go, it's really hard to ever effectively tidy as you're just moving it from surface to surface.

I live in a one bedroom flat and it takes me about 3 hours to dust, hoover and mop the place. That's not including cleaning the bathroom and kitchen. But I am very lazy and need a break between each thing. Luckily, I only feel the need to clean every 3 weeks.
speakout · 11/11/2021 18:58

It would take me a couple of days to deep clean my whole house.

CovidCorvid · 11/11/2021 18:59

Never cleaned the house the whole way through. No way do I spend an hour a day cleaning, I doubt I spend an hour a week.

On a daily basis I empty the litter tray and empty the dishwasher and restack - takes ten mins.

At the weekend one of us hoovers downstairs. Upstairs gets done far less frequently. The loo gets a bit of bleach chucked down it and I change the bedsheets - takes 20/30 mins.

I think dh cleans the shower sometimes. It looks clean enough. Maybe it's self cleaning. Grin

I've never washed the windows in 20 years!

PeachyPeachTrees · 11/11/2021 20:09

Never and regretting it at the moment as we are infested with carpet moths. Sad
I am now deep cleaning and vacuuming like my life depends on it, so exhausting. Hate moving furniture and cleaning everywhere.

Oh no! I had carpet beetles so sympathise !
Champersandchocolate · 11/11/2021 20:29

If I had a small house then yes I'd be more inclined. 😂
It's tidy and the cleaner cleans.
It doesn't need a deep clean as we just renovated.

'I bet I spend a lot less time than you lot as a result' well no probably not because rise if us who are not cleaning skirting boards, underbeds etc just aren't doing it full stop. Not differently, or less often but longer, just not at all. We don't feel the need. If someone dislikes me because I have dust behind the sofa then I don't need their friendship. It simply doesn't HAVE to be done, as far as I'm concerned

speakout · 11/11/2021 20:37

Best hoover for stairs anyone?

It’s not about people not liking you...or losing friends🙄 it’s about not wanting to live in a midden
Tigertigertigertiger · 11/11/2021 21:06

I have severe hay fever and asthma. It absolutely has to be done in my case. Any build up of dust and fluff can affect me. I don't sterilise my house or anything like that, but I vacuum behind my couches regularly and it has nothing to do with what my friends might think.
Knittinglibby · 12/11/2021 02:42

Never more than a room or two at a time. I have a clean home but admit there are corners/clutter (away, not out in the open to be seen) that haven't been addressed in 10 + years. One day.

lololololollll · 12/11/2021 02:45

My sister is like this. I always tell her there's so much more to life

lololololollll · 12/11/2021 02:46

@IVFdreams2021

I clean for about 6 hours on a Saturday or Sunday once a week.
Wow. That is such a huge amount of time you could be doing fun things
lololololollll · 12/11/2021 02:47

@AutumnAnn

Twice a year when I prepare the house for winter and summer, it probably takes me a good few days
🤣🤣🤣
Moomarre · 12/11/2021 06:57

I never do the whole house in one go. But probably do one or two deeper cleaning jobs a week. So last week I pulled everything out from under my bed and hoovered, dusted on top of the wardrobes, poked a feather duster into the high corners and cleaned windows and frames in my room (insides only). This week I’ve cleaned a couple of kitchen shelves and I’ve noticed the dc’s shoe cupboard has quite a lot of sand and mud and bits of astroturf in the bottom so will clean that out.

maofteens · 12/11/2021 09:48

Never.
