Teacher filmed attacking her horse

Just seen the footage of a woman attacking a horse after a "drag hunt"
She is a primary school teacher and a member of the pony club.
Aibu to think she should lose her job over this?
@Waitrosedarling you seem to be pretty much the only poster salivating at the thought of this ending in suicide. It’s a bit weird tbh
No, you have said you don't mind if it does.

gunnersgold · 10/11/2021 17:19

She lost her temper with that poor horse , you can see clearly she is just lashing out at it !
She shouldn't be around animals or children with a temper like that ! Vile woman !

EmeraldShamrock · 10/11/2021 17:21

I didn't know teachers had to be living saints. Not saints no, certainly not violent thugs, it has been well documented throughout history with violent crimes it starts with the defenceless victim Pets/DC/Vulnerable adults.
Her loss of control and excessive smacking makes her an inappropriate teacher.

ThePriceIsNotRight · 10/11/2021 17:28

@treguffin

That would be defined as apathy, rather than salivating.

IntermittentParps · 10/11/2021 17:32

Waitrose, I know why it was brought up. The subject of the media and SM hounding people is interesting, yes (although the way you ask that question of me seems oddly insinuating, although of what I'm not quite able to work out); but it's a bit nuclear on this thread.

Buttercup1954 · 10/11/2021 17:37

She definately should because her behaviour was disgusting and she is showing an extremely bad example to children. If she treats animals in her care like that how does she treat the children? I wouldn't like her having anything to do with my children.

Leedsfan247 · 10/11/2021 17:37

Let’s hope so it was absolutely deplorable

HostaFireAndIce · 10/11/2021 17:42

She's late 30s, isn't she? She's probably been teaching well over 10 years. I would have thought it's pretty well established by now that she treats children better than she treats horses.

August1980 · 10/11/2021 17:42

I wouldn’t her around my child..

I am so upset about the horse.

Derbee · 10/11/2021 17:43

@treguffin as explained, it’s not salivating to not give a shit if a bad person brings harm to herself.

A few of us have said we wouldn’t care, but that PP a) brought suicide up b) has kept fixating on it, almost as though she’s hoping this woman dies so she can be like “Ha, told you so! Be kind” blah blah blah

Gattasyl · 10/11/2021 17:44

Horse racing and, by some degree, even horse 'riding' it's a form of animal abuse so....this is not that bad or surprising in any way.... but yes not great to watch. Losing her job though...just part of that cancel culture everyone loves right now. Not sure that's fair or necessary.

nothing will ever come of it, the rspca never follow up on these things, the only things they chase are money earners and tv shots

I actually feel sorry for this woman. Was it an over reaction yes! But should her life be ruined because of a reaction? Absolutely not!! At the end of the day the horse is fine and I don’t agree with how she handled the situation but for her life to be ruined, to receive death threats to her family including her young children and having to sell her house and move, lose her job, her livelihood to support her family? I think the whole thing has been blown out of proportion. I think people need to put this into perspective. She reacted to a potential dangerous situation the horse came lose and could of caused harm to traffic /people she was disciplining it. I do think it was possibly over the top, but can you all honestly tell me you have never told a dog off for misbehaving? I think when this poor woman could potentially harm herself due to all this hatred all those people who have been spouting vile comments will be the first to hash tag be kind bullshit! I think it shows how toxic social media can be and how awful people can be, especially considering it’s associated with hunting but that’s a debate for another time.

Hitting a horse is not "telling it off".
IntermittentParps · 10/11/2021 18:08

she was disciplining it. Is that what you call it? Hmm

can you all honestly tell me you have never told a dog off for misbehaving? 'told off' and 'hit around the face and head'; interesting how you equate those.

Obviously I don't disagree that she should not be getting judged on SM or receiving death threats.

But you are downplaying her behaviour quite severely.

mbosnz · 10/11/2021 18:11

The fact that the horse was able to wander off, was on her. That was her incompetence, and irresponsibility. The horse doesn't know that it could have caused an accident. It had no malice, no intent, and certainly no understanding.

If you allow a toddler to wander off into traffic, who is responsible for that? The toddler? No, the parent that should have had a firm grasp on their hand, or ensured that another responsible person had a firm grasp of their hand.

That was NOT discipline. That was temper. Beating a horse about the head is never okay, it's the best way to make a horse headshy. Kicking a horse in the chest is just fucking ridiculous. She was having an adult sized toddler temper tantrum, and taking out her fury (most probably truly aimed at the Hunt Sab's, rather than the horse) out on the victim that couldn't/wouldn't strike back - the confused, well bred, and well trained horse.

Well bred, and well trained - well, the woman certainly isn't. If your toddler wanders out into traffic due to your negligence - is the appropriate response to beat your toddler about the head and kick them in the head? No? Then don't do it on an animal equally dependent on you doing your job to keep them and others safe as a toddler would be.

Neron · 10/11/2021 18:12

But should her life be ruined because of a reaction?
Actions have consequences.

Meg000 · 10/11/2021 18:12

Ok I admit it was over the top and she should be investigated re keeping animals but I think for her whole life to be ruined due to this seems a step too far!

WildExcuses · 10/11/2021 18:12

Nice bit of minimising there Meg. Stupid post.

mbosnz · 10/11/2021 18:12

Kick them in the chest, not the head. . .

smilingontheinside · 10/11/2021 18:12

I saw the footage a couple of days ago. It was disgusting and she should not be allowed to keep any animals. May not affect her ability to teach but it would affect me wanting my child anywhere near her if she was teaching them. Vile human to treat an animal like that.

mbosnz · 10/11/2021 18:14

Actually, I do wonder a bit about her appropriateness as a teacher. Her lack of impulse control, her inability to see around corners (of course the Hunt Sab's would be filming, and this was money for jam), and her inability to manager her anger.

Meg000 · 10/11/2021 18:15

I’m not minimising her behaviour but she’s still a human with a family ect. I imagine you have never made a mistake !

foxlover47 · 10/11/2021 18:15

I can't stand the Cottesmore hunt I follow herts hunt sabs and they are proper known for their violent ways ( Cottesmore )
I hate hunting I especially hate trail hunting as a guise because they aren't real hunting at all
I'm
Sorry if it offends but I'm glad she's been outed on SM , I also tagged in bbc news and sky news etc to the original post ... herts hunt sabs are truly brilliant people , if she can turn on a horse in front of others like that just think what she does when nobody is around ...
We don't know what our kids teachers get up to usually outside of school but no I would not want this woman teaching my 9 year old if she has values that allow abuse of Animals , I've also joined petitions etc to stop schools shooting foxes on their grounds ...
this woman is a bully , a animal abuser and a disgrace to the pony club , Cottesmore , their terrier men etc are known thugs and bullies and anyone who hunts foxes ... they are filth in my eyes too
