To be ashamed of our Sleazebag PM?

Sean2001 · 08/11/2021 14:17

If it wasn't bad enough, Johnson presiding over the Paterson vote last week ...

He's now refusing to attend the debate today on sleaze/corruption

He also will not allow the sleaze watchdog to look into his flat refurbishment.

Does Johnson actually think this kind of behaviour is impressive?

I find it deeply embarrassing.

I can't understand why Keir and his clan are not jumping on this and making mincemeat of our PM - it's an open goal surely at this stage

PerkingFaintly · 08/11/2021 14:27

I don't understand what you mean by "not jumping on this."

The media I see is full of Starmer and others making mincemeat of Johnson for this, inside the Commons and out.

Cascascascas · 08/11/2021 14:28

@Sean2001

He is an utter disgrace and lair.
Hugely embarrassing.

Taoneusa · 08/11/2021 14:29

None of them are particularly better than each other, IMO, they do their best and are fallible, and police each other for their ends only.

They are.

I think this is the beginning. Labour have finally got their teeth in and from now on won't let go.

I'm not ashamed personally, as I have despised him openly since I was first aware of him.

YANBU, though.

DirectionToPerfection · 08/11/2021 14:32

How on earth can 43% of posters here disagree with you? Fucking hell.

The man is pathetic and he has made the UK a laughing stock. It's frightening how low the public's standards are.

PerkingFaintly · 08/11/2021 14:32

Admittedly there's quite a queue to give Johnson a kicking over this.

Lots of Tories getting their boot in, including John Major.

Gotta let everyone have their turn...

DirectionToPerfection · 08/11/2021 14:35

The whole "they're all as bad as each other" mantra is infuriating.

No, they really are not.

ButterflyAway · 08/11/2021 14:36

Yup I’m ashamed of him, but I’m more ashamed of the public that voted him in.

ButterflyAway · 08/11/2021 14:37

We all stood by and laughed when trump was in power, well we’ve got our very own trump now and it’s not half as funny.

Kaibashira · 08/11/2021 14:37

YANBU but don't call it sleaze. That minimises what should be called what it is - institutional corruption.

PerkingFaintly · 08/11/2021 14:37

This.
the80sweregreat · 08/11/2021 14:38

The problem is the Tories will say ' they are all as bad as each other ' and Tony Blair will be held up as one example of this.
People will still vote for the conservatives at the next election too.
This won't make much difference to anything.

Completely this. He was an utter disgrace long before he got near No 10.

Agreed. However according to Mumsnet people are falling over themselves to ensure that this corrupt government is voted in again.
DeeCeeCherry · 08/11/2021 14:42

He appeals to racists and xenophobes. Thats enough for the Tories to continually shaft the British public yet be voted back in.

I do hear peoole moaning about him in RL but they don't vote anyway. The silent and the apathetic are the Tories' best allies

I saw a thread where the line being pushed was voteTory because Labour is shit on womens' rights.

Yet I cant imagine by a long shot that the Tories have championed womens' rights. Its any excuse..

ilovesooty · 08/11/2021 14:42

Are we to assume 17% of this poll believe Johnson isn't corrupt?

readwhatiactuallysay · 08/11/2021 14:43

Im embarrassed for our country, that our voting systems is such, that this man can be our PM.

That so many people have such low moral standards and low standards for their expectations of how we , as the public, should be treated.

Anyone who did a little bit of homework on him, knows he was mot remotely interested in doing the job, just wanted the title.
He has no moral compass and possibly the most obviously corrupt we have seen yet, but yet he wins votes.

Im still to hear a few things that he has delivers successfully whilst being in power, all we hear is the ridiculous excuse of "labour are no competition ".....heres an idea, thers not just 2 parties and you don't have to vote (i know its a disgrace but you don't have to) so don't vote for someone who will be at the detriment to the country, just because you don't like another party.

But yes anyone who voted him in and keeps defending him, should be ashamed yes

Katyppp · 08/11/2021 14:54

The problem is, MN is not representative of the UK.
You will gets endless posters on here, agreeing with you and trying to outdo each other on how much they hate the Tories, are in real lifeashamed of our Government, sorry for people they consider to have been shafted by the Tories etc etc etc.
In real life, things are a lot more nuanced and lots of the issues considered very important on MN hardly raise an eyebrow.
The Tories were voted in last time and they will be voted in again, until Labour have a credible offering that people can relate to, not just spend all their time (over) reacting, finger-pointing and name calling.
Actually setting out what they would actually do in a given situation instead of just going on about how awful the Tories are and evading questions woykd be a good start.

I agree with you completely.
PinkiOcelot · 08/11/2021 14:58

Johnson and his cronies are all an absolute disgrace. I think something should be done to get rid of the lot of them.

VickyEadieofThigh · 08/11/2021 14:59

I've been on a campaign for some years to stop people referring to him in matey fashion as "Boris" - it gives me the rage when newspapers do it, even in the same article referring to "Boris" and then "Starmer".

He's not anybody's mate and nobody should do it unless they're a personal friend. It's encouraged a benign "Aww, good old Boris - he's a laugh, innee?" mentality.

ilovesooty · 08/11/2021 15:05

evading questions

Oh the irony...
