Go to A&E?

Sorry, I know this isn’t an AIBU and these threads are really annoying, but I’m home alone and can’t figure out whether to go to A&E or stay at home until DH and kids are home later tonight and reassess.

I’ve fainted three times today.

Firstly in the shower this morning, but managed to sit on the bathroom floor before I fell down. Thought maybe I just got up too quickly this morning, low blood pressure etc.

Then it happened again a couple of hours later in the kitchen. Fell to the floor, hurt my hip, think I was only unconscious for less than a minute.

Finally, it happened about an hour ago. More scary this time, as I don’t remember it happening, but woke up in my hallway feeling bruised as if I’d fallen. Think I was only out for a minute or two.

This is really odd. Never happened before. No underlying health conditions, although I feel like I might have a mild UTI today.

Hope you’re okay, OP

Go to A&E, and go now. There is a chance that you might be having a stroke, or a cardiac incident. The longer you wait, should either of these be true, the worse off you are. Call for an ambulance, then call your husband.

SirVixofVixHall · 06/11/2021 18:46

How frightening for you OP.
Absolutely the right thing to be checked in hospital as 111 have confirmed. Very glad you will be in an ambulance and in your way to get seen. Hope you are better soon. Flowers .

@anniegun

Always worth asking randoms on the Internet rather than calling 111.
Well the option she was considering was A&E so asking random son the internet who suggested 111 who sent an ambulance wasn't a bad choice
itsallgoingpearshaped · 06/11/2021 18:49

Glad you're not driving, but you definitely need to be seen.

Hope all is treatable. x

Notcontent · 06/11/2021 18:51

@AccidentallyOnPurpose

What exactly is A&E for then?

Because accidents and bleeding .. not good enough.

Feverish and feeling like dead.. not good enough.

Fainting repeatedly not good enough.

Infections and other concerning signs.. not good enough.

Horrible persistent sudden pain ... not good enough.

What's the A&E for then?

Yes, exactly. I am not British and find this attitude really puzzling. I have never fainted and if I suddenly fainted and felt unwell I would be going to A&E straight away! I have loved ones I need to stay alive for.
IrishCharm · 06/11/2021 18:51

@RoxOff

111 are sending an ambulance.

Thank you so much and apologies for being a bit of a dimwit asking on here…I just couldn’t decide whether to be worried or just go to bed and reassess in the morning. Thanks again x

Glad you’re getting seen to op - fainting once could be anything but three times in less than 24 hrs needs checking by professionals! Hope all turns out ok x
Lsquiggles · 06/11/2021 18:53

Hope all is okay OP!

AccidentallyOnPurpose · 06/11/2021 18:56

@Nocutenamesleft

This is not a case for A and E in my eyes.

Out of hours dr. Yes.

Loss of consciousness is the first reason given for going to A&E.
Go to A&E?
Iamacatslave · 06/11/2021 18:57

How are you OP?

HollowTalk · 06/11/2021 18:58

Good luck. I hope you don't have to wait too long.

mummyh2016 · 06/11/2021 19:06

@Nocutenamesleft they're actually not different things, a UTI is an infection of your bladder, kidneys or the tubes connected to them. That's on the NHS website. It's just that most people (myself included) class UTIs as bladder infections only.

Veryverycalmnow · 06/11/2021 19:15

Hope you're ok.

DomPom47 · 06/11/2021 19:15

Hope you are getting well looked after at the hospital 💐

MangoIce · 06/11/2021 19:17

Not normal. Have you eaten enough food and drank enough water? If you have then it could be something more sinister.

Dahliasrule · 06/11/2021 19:19

Hope you are all right. OP definitely a case for A and E. Hope ambulance didn’t take too long. Could be a very slow heartbeat that can cause fainting.

LazyDaisy22 · 06/11/2021 19:29

Best wishes OP. Hope you’re soon safely back home 💐

Mickarooni · 06/11/2021 19:31

I can’t believe how easily some of you rush to A&E! One weekend, when I was 8 months pregnant with my triplets, I accidentally severed one leg off while building my own crib from scratch. I lost half my blood volume and fainted 76 times which caused many other injuries including a skull fracture but I still waited patiently for my GP surgery to open the next day.

Hope you’re ok, OP. Flowers

You wasted a GP appointment just for that? A wet paper towel and plaster should've done it.Grin
Onionbhajisandwich · 06/11/2021 19:34

A and E 100%. I know someone that this happened to and it turned out to be a serious heart problem.

ChristmasGrogu · 06/11/2021 19:36

Glad you’re getting seen, 3 lots of unconsciousness which isn’t normal for you really is abnormal. I do the same seeking reassurance and asking when I know I should get help so asking on MN is completely normal.

Bonnealle · 06/11/2021 19:40

Is it labyrinthitis? It’s an inner ear infection, but doesn’t hurt your hears. It affect your balance, for me it means I faint! I’d try and get a GP appointment or call 111. But then I’m an A&E avoider as I can’t stand waiting!

Immaculatemisconception · 06/11/2021 19:43

I hope you get on okay @RoxOff. Please let us know how you get on.

@RichardMarxisinnocent

www.nhs.uk/conditions/fainting/

This is what the NHS website says about fainting. It says to see your GP if you faint and don't know why, or if you faint more than once.

Actually, it also says to call 999 if person cannot be woken after a minute
YouveBeenLittUp · 06/11/2021 19:46

Hope you are ok op Thanks
