Go to A&E?

Sorry, I know this isn’t an AIBU and these threads are really annoying, but I’m home alone and can’t figure out whether to go to A&E or stay at home until DH and kids are home later tonight and reassess.

I’ve fainted three times today.

Firstly in the shower this morning, but managed to sit on the bathroom floor before I fell down. Thought maybe I just got up too quickly this morning, low blood pressure etc.

Then it happened again a couple of hours later in the kitchen. Fell to the floor, hurt my hip, think I was only unconscious for less than a minute.

Finally, it happened about an hour ago. More scary this time, as I don’t remember it happening, but woke up in my hallway feeling bruised as if I’d fallen. Think I was only out for a minute or two.

This is really odd. Never happened before. No underlying health conditions, although I feel like I might have a mild UTI today.

All the best @roxoff, glad you're getting checked out.

RichardMarxisinnocent · 06/11/2021 17:18

Just seen 111 are sending an ambulance, I hope you don't have to wait too long. All the best.

SRS29 · 06/11/2021 17:18

Well done OP, good luck x

DaisyandSimeon · 06/11/2021 17:18

came on to say of course A&E. You've lost consciousness 3 times with no obvious reason.

purplesequins · 06/11/2021 17:20

good luck!

take phone & charger, snack and drink.

I hope you feel better soon

Offmyfence · 06/11/2021 17:21

I'm glad they're sending an ambulance, hope you're ok.

devildeepbluesea · 06/11/2021 17:24

Good luck OP. Seems the ambulance service agreed it wasn't inappropriate to go to A&E.

Thecurtainsofdestiny · 06/11/2021 17:24

Hope things are ok OP and glad that 111 are sending help.

A and E is appropriate as it's not possible to tell if this is a simple faint (vasovagal episode) or something else without further examination/ investigation.

whitehorsesdonotlie · 06/11/2021 17:25

Good decision, op. I hope you don't have to wait too long and there's nothing serious wrong.

NumberTheory · 06/11/2021 17:25

I fainted after getting a UTI - turned out to be a kidney infection. Easily treated with antibiotics. I hope your issue is just as straightforward OP.

NumberTheory · 06/11/2021 17:27

*and I had to go to A&E (after calling 111) to access the help too.

Irishfarmer · 06/11/2021 17:38

Hope you get seen quickly.

TatianaBis · 06/11/2021 17:38

Don’t bother with 111 just get a cab to A&E.

TatianaBis · 06/11/2021 17:39

Oh - sorry ambulance good.

shouldistop · 06/11/2021 17:41

I suspect the person who said A&E would be inappropriate has absolutely no medical training at all and should probably keep their ill informed opinions to themselves when telling people not to seek medical attention.

Exactly! Some people think you should only go to A&E when you're dead!

Seems pointless then.

Still1nLove · 06/11/2021 17:48

Good luck

happytoday73 · 06/11/2021 17:50

Hello OP, so glad you are being sorted. Don't forget your phone charger, overnight bag just in case and a good book.. You could be some time as they will likely want to rule out quite a few things...
My husband had something similar and it took a while.
Can someone sit with you until ambulance arrives? Did they give you any idea of timing... They are very busy at moment so might be worth getting a lift from friend.. Don't forget to cancel ambulance letting them know where you are going too

SueSaid · 06/11/2021 17:55

I'd have got dh to come home and take you to the out of hours doctors. Serious enough for A&E but not serious enough to ask your dh to please come home?

Blondiney · 06/11/2021 17:55

How scary! Glad they're sending an ambulance for you, quite right too.

supremelybaffled · 06/11/2021 17:58

Well apparently it is serious enough for an ambulance so what do you know?

Does her DH have an ambulance?
Yummymummy2020 · 06/11/2021 17:59

You are so right to go to a and e don’t mind anyone telling you otherwise l had similar that just came on and it was an arrhythmia. They were able to catch it in there on an ecg and I’m on meds on and off now for it as needed and under cardiology. Better to be checked than to ignore it for sure!

Conflictedboobs · 06/11/2021 18:01

Gosh it sounds so much like my sister before she was diagnosed with epilepsy. She was in her 40’s and kept fainting randomly when alone but because it was never witnessed we didn’t realise that what she thought was a faint was actually a fit. She used to wake up feeling a bit co fused and very tired/ bruised but assume she’d just fallen.

Glad you’re getting checked and I hope you get some answers.

SueSaid · 06/11/2021 18:02

'Well apparently it is serious enough for an ambulance so what do you know?'

Hey its a chat forum I'm sharing my opinion like everyone else. The dh will return when he hears his wife has an ambulance on way anyway, surely he could've taken her himself if she'd asked him to return after her first fainting do?

We'll have a thread saying someone really ill had to wait hours for an ambulance as they were snowed under..
