If someone said "mid to late morning" to you, what time would you think that was?

Making contact arrangements with ex for after Christmas (so not imminently firming up plans IYSWIM).
Told ex I would be able to drop off at a mid-way point mid-late morning.
He's now asked for a "rough time" so he can plan his departure time.

AIBU that I have already give a rough time?

Ah, I wondered if he was the type who, if you do give him a time, would then hold it against you if you wanted to amend it by an hour, closer to the time. 'But you said 11am, I've arranged my life around 11am, now you're saying 12.30!', when really you'd said '11-12ish' and realised a week before, that 12.30 would work much better.

It's weeks ahead. I do understand saying something like 'maybe around 11-12 but I'll confirm the week before', then saying then, whether it will be closer to 11 or to 12.

Unless he has some other, very time-specific plans he needs to fit in on the same morning.

For me, that could be any time 10-noon. Can't you give an estimate of time, and ask if he can be flexible (or not) for 15 mins either way.

Abraxan · 06/11/2021 14:53

Mid to late morning: 11am onwards
Lunchtime: about 1pm on
Mid afternoon: about 3-4pm ish
Early evening: about 6pm

Pinkfluffyunicornsandrainbows · 06/11/2021 14:54

I'd think of 10-11 as mid-late morning.

yossell · 06/11/2021 14:55

I think you are giving him a rough time. Just not in the sense you mean.

gingerbiscuits · 06/11/2021 15:03

@Moonshine11

Why is it hard to say a time? Am I missing something 🙈
Exactly! He quite reasonably wants to plan when to leave!! 🤷‍♀️
LovePoppy · 06/11/2021 16:55

10-11 for me

But why not just tell him your range.

Peace43 · 06/11/2021 17:15

11ish

liveforsummer · 07/11/2021 17:41

Around 11am. I can see why he wants a time though but surely it's not actually necessary yet

HappyAsASandboy · 07/11/2021 17:42

11 to 11.30

neededafart · 07/11/2021 17:45

Why are you being awkward and not just telling him a time ?

DanceItOut · 07/11/2021 17:45

Mid-morning to me is 9am so mid to late morning would be any time between 9-12. I guess the midway point would therefore be 10.30am for me personally. Why not just say or around 11am or around 10.30 etc whichever time you pick?

neededafart · 07/11/2021 17:46

You can't meet half way with a time frame ? One of you could be waiting up to an hour. That's ridiculous on Xmas. Particularly if the children are the ones waiting

LaDamaDeElche · 07/11/2021 17:49

10:30 - 11:30

petelacey · 07/11/2021 17:50

Around 11 o'clock.

Rainbowheart1 · 07/11/2021 17:52

10-12

Heartdogs · 07/11/2021 17:55

Between 12 and 2

Cosyblankets · 07/11/2021 18:00

Between 12 and 2
That's afternoon

Anything after 12 isn’t morning at all…
ThinWomansBrain · 07/11/2021 18:02

11-11.30 - but whether you mean 10-10.30, 10.-30-11 - why can't you say what you mean approximately?
YABU expecting someone to plan to sit around at a motorway service station for anything between ten and midday anyday - let alone Christmas morning.

like7 · 07/11/2021 18:03

11-13

cherish123 · 07/11/2021 18:04

11-11.30
Although the phrase is quite vague. I'd prefer an exact time.

NoDecentHandlesLeft · 07/11/2021 18:05

For me:
Early morning: 5am-8am
Mid morning: 8-10ish
Late morning: 10.30-11.55.
So wide variation, YABU not to have a 15-30 minute window.

JenniferWooley · 07/11/2021 18:10

I get up anytime between 5 and 6am so mid morning to me is anywhere from 8-9 and late morning is 9:30 onwards.

When making drop off arrangements for DS we do a specific time and accept that one of us might be up to 15mins late depending on traffic how many times we've had to shout at DS to get a fucking move on

I'd be demanding a firmer time agreement too as mid to late morning could span 3 hours - what if he shows up at 10 and you rock up at 11:45?

UndertonesOfCake · 07/11/2021 18:13

10-12 for me
