When will they hurry up and ban fireworks for private sale?
Have 2 dogs shivering under the sofa. Huge bangs outside. What if you have a baby in bed?
Anti social behaviour if you ask me.
Take your kids to a proper display.
@DaisyNGO - yes, same with my MP (Tory cannon fodder) but I write to him in the vain hope that he'll do the right thing one day.
Grin you sound like me and my MP except last time we corresponded he offended me so much that a politely implied that I would prefer not to hear from him again.

Ghoulette · 05/11/2021 20:52

I really need to move. I'm not joking or exaggerating when I say it started in September here and has been going on every week, and will now until January.

480Widdio · 05/11/2021 20:53

I loathe and detest them and the utter morons that let them off.

My dog is shaking and panting, cat hidden in an en-suite with no windows.

Bloody awful things, every year I sign Petitions to ban them from sale to the General Public, nothing ever gets done about them.

Hugoslavia · 05/11/2021 20:53

Well, dog's bark and leave muck all over the pavements. Kids scream and shout. Both do this all year round. So why shouldn't people enjoy fireworks on bonfire night? And I say this as someone who has small kids and pets. A bit of give and take is required in life.

Ghoulette · 05/11/2021 20:53

Aaannmd some prick has just stood on the small green outside out house and lit off 10 fireworks.

But keep going on about how we are spoiling people's fun.

Itsnotallaboutyoubaby · 05/11/2021 20:54

Classic FM is keeping my dog nice and chilled

userxx · 05/11/2021 20:54

I believe you, because it's exactly the same where I live. Sad

Although even i'm surprised by how loud and frequent they are tonight. Bonfire night is usually bad, but this year is something else.

Same here. I'd love to know where people live who niavely say it's just one night.
@mydogisthebest you must admit dogs and cats are pretty antisocial and bad for the environment though
But that is not the argument is it? Yes pet owners are concerned for their animals but it's not just animals affected by fireworks is it?

"Dogs and kids shit and scream so should suffer for 4 months of the year"

Do you fucking hear yourself? And again... ITS NOT JUST PETs AND KIDS!!

Dementia, Pradeep, sensory issues etc etc. Go read the full damn thread!!!!!

I believe you because it's the same round my way. I remember texting my friend back in September about it and wondering where these idiots even buy fireworks in September. Fucking morons.
ljc111985 · 05/11/2021 20:57

@ClaudiusTheGod

What if you have a baby in bed?

Babies sleep through this kind of thing.

Please tell my 15 month this! He usually does sleep through anything! Not tonight 😩
Maverickess · 05/11/2021 20:58

Just about to start a night shift on a dementia unit, I'm so looking forward to trying to coax the 90 year old I look after out from under his bed, or more likely laying there with him until we hope the majority have stopped only to have him dive under there again when another lot starts, spent 2 hours down there last night.
Think my colleague is particularly looking forward to trying to keep the rest calm as they jump and get upset, scared and confused by the noises that are continuing on.
We've had this at some level for the last 2 weeks, with increasing frequency until tonight.

Oh well, enjoy your fun though, no thought for others required 👍

AlfonsoTheUnrepentant · 05/11/2021 20:58

I'm quite lucky - this year is reasonably quiet. I don't remember the past couple of years being too bad, either.

But my old neighbourhood was awfull as fireworks went on for a month at a time several times a year.

Tilltheend99 · 05/11/2021 20:58

@GlacindaTheTroll it’s been going all week here. Fully expect another weeks worth. Live near a small park and majority is people just chucking them about.

Ghoulette · 05/11/2021 20:58

PTSD that should have said.

@mydogisthebest @BurntTheFuckOut

Maybe people enjoy it for different reasons, agree with a PP its quite annoying when dogs are barking all night everyday of the year without fireworks but everyone has there enjoyments 🤷‍♀️

I am surprised you are old enough to have children. I thought the post was written by a 10 year old.

I live in a village where almost every house (130 houses) has a dog or even more than 1. Some of them bark but none of them bark day after day for hours so loud that my tv can drown the barking it, my windows rattle and my dogs are terrified.

My neighbour has a 7 year old who can screech and scream like a banshee but it is nowhere near as loud as the fireworks. In fact it's like a whisper compared to the banging bomb fireworks

I'm so sorry you're patients are suffering so much. Thank you for being with them whilst idiots are mindlessly letting off millions of fireworks, you're amazing and I'm sure their families appreciate you being there. Just wanted you to know how awesome you are. Flowers

If a dog were barking all night every day of the year then it would only have to be reported to the local council and something would be done about.

Making up absolutely stupid and pathetic comparisons is pretty pointless and just proves the firework lovers don't have a valid argument

slashlover · 05/11/2021 21:03

There aren't any "proper displays" in Scotland because Queen Nicola is still banging on about Covid and they've all been cancelled.

That's strange as there are several displays near me. The rules were just changed to not before 6pm and not after 11pm (although it's midnight tonight and 1am on NYE, Chinese New Year and Diwali).

Tilltheend99 · 05/11/2021 21:03

@Maverickess that sounds absolutely horrendous. If they won’t ban public sales maybe you should try petitioning for firework exclusion zones around care homes so at least it is a little less bad.

BurntTheFuckOut · 05/11/2021 21:03

@Ghoulette I lived beside/behind a car park on a council estate for years, it was the favourite place of drunk teenagers for letting off fireworks. Lost count of the amount of ambulances called. Lost count of the amount of times fireworks hit my house/neighbours houses. They’re not hitting my house where I live now, but they go on far longer during the night and for many more nights than they did there.
