To ask if we can stop dicking about with the clocks?

Just that, really. I'm up at 4:30 for the second day in a row because of this clock nonsense. Changing bedtime is not adjusting wake-up time, just resulting in a tired infant. Can we all just leave the clocks where they are from now on?

Oh I'm so with you! Also up because of a small child, who went to bed far later last night so will be tired and grumpy all day 🙈

Atmywitsend29 · 01/11/2021 04:53

I don't understand why we still change them?? (happy to be educated - I know the history of why, but why do we still do it?)

I work nights, so watching the clock go from 01:59am to 01:00am was something less than delightful Sunday morning Angry

NadiaVulvokov · 01/11/2021 04:55

It’s getting dark ridiculously early here now. And the oven clock is wrong and I’v forgotten how to change it. It’s so stupid we still do this.

I've also got no idea how to change the oven clock. Or the car 🤦

I lived many places that didn’t and it always got
dark earlier than I expected. I kind of value that extra hour of sunshine in the evening

orangejuicer · 01/11/2021 05:08

Been awake since 3.30am so I'm with you!

Showmethefood · 01/11/2021 05:10

Totally agree. I was on a 12 hr shift last night, which turned into 13 hours. I’m shattered.

Roadtrip2018 · 01/11/2021 05:11

Another one dreading the long day ahead. Been awake since 4am Hmm

UnLunDun · 01/11/2021 05:14

I loathe the clocks going back with a vengeance. Feel like a zombie Mum. Toddler complete out of whack with sleep here too, I feel your pain.

orangejuicer · 01/11/2021 05:16

Coffee ☕ all round! Grin

BedknobsNoBroomsticks · 01/11/2021 05:18

I agree too. Yesterday was a long enough day, today is going to be even worse.

I have been awake since 3am. Normally on days like this i would take the little one out somewhere to pass the time but I am having to isolate at the moment so can't even do that.

SpangoDweller · 01/11/2021 05:21

🙋🏻‍♀️

I do feel for Scotland though, where the mornings are far too dark in winter

Inlander · 01/11/2021 05:23

I agree. I also have a toddler who has woken up at stupid a clock and will be tired and grumpy all bloody day.

Harlequin1088 · 01/11/2021 05:26

It never used to bother me but I find that the older I get, the more the clock changes affect me. I find it something akin to jet lag and it leaves me feeling knocked around for weeks.

User27569 · 01/11/2021 05:29

Apparently we still do it because they are worried about increased carbon accidents in the dark during rush hour. The EU said everyone should stop though so there are some murmurings about next year being the last time and then us staying on British Summer Time.

jontyl · 01/11/2021 05:31

We only have so much daylight. Messing around with it gives me jetlag type symptoms for 2 days. Pointless especially as farmers just adjust their days to daylight hours. They don't do 9-5!! Schoolkids get chauffeured into school anyway. I personally think it's a way for the government/powers that be saying 'we're in control'.

Mummyoflittledragon · 01/11/2021 05:33

I used to plan for this with dd in 5 min increments over 2/3 weeks so by the time the clocks changed she was pretty much ready for the new time. I know not everyone can do that due to work.

Mummyoflittledragon · 01/11/2021 05:34

Do they? Loads and loads of secondary children walk near me. The majority of primary as well. School buses are a minority.

Do you work that extra hour for free ? @Showmethefood
Thatsplentyjack · 01/11/2021 05:37

Hasn't made a difference to mine, she's up at 5 every bloody morning. We were 4.30 on Wednesday. She's 9 months and this has been going on for a good 3 months. No idea why. And she's still up during the night she's not had a bottle during the night for 3 months either so no idea why she's still waking up.

Showmethefood · 01/11/2021 05:40

@sleepinglionsroar no, I got paid 😊

I should've done this, but always got away without doing it with DC1. DC2 is apparently a different kettle of fish!

Mummyoflittledragon · 01/11/2021 05:47

My dd was very routine driven like your dc2. Can you do the 5 min increments now?

Santastuckincustoms · 01/11/2021 05:48

Isn't it for farmers? Which I've never understood changing an entire country for one occupation. Just work a different shift?? Surely the cows still wake at the same point - it's not like you can use a gro-clock with them? Or can you? Confused

polkadotpixie · 01/11/2021 05:48

I've been up since before 5 too 😩 It's not even toddler DS, he's fast asleep, it's me! It really throws my body clock out and I'm not a good sleeper at the best of times
