To be pi**ed off at behaviour of 4x4 driver

Earlier today I pulled out of a side road to park my rather humble ford focus after having a good look. dd asleep in the back, when I got beeped my the driver of a 4x4 BMW monstrosity who'd roared up behind me going at about 40mph (I live on school lane and it's called that for a very valid reason 3 schools within half a mile) in a 20zone.

As I parked he then pulled up beside me and started tapping his head as in "are you mental?" gesture, I shrugged and mouthed "what" at him in response and he went to get out of the car!!?! His passenger stopped him in time tho and he just roared off.

I'm fuming who the f**k do these idiots think they are!?!

And yes, I am ranting against 4x4 drivers, I know I'm making a massive generalisation and before you jump in no, I'm not jealous because I can't afford one!!

If he prefers an X5 to a 5 series, he knows nothing about cars and should start calling himself Shirley.

robin3 · 12/12/2007 13:11

Actually got nothing to do with the fact that he drives a 4x4 though. Guy was just an idiot.

binklebells · 12/12/2007 13:11

Sorry meant to say we have an X5 4.8i which I love and have no intention of getting it dirty!!

It has seven seats and is uber practical and very, verrrryyy comfy inside and just lovely.

And if people think its a car that says 'look at me' then y'know, dont give me the satifaction, avert thine eyes!!

TinyTimLivesinVictorianSqualor · 12/12/2007 13:12

I think his plan is to keep his car tbh and buy me some little runaround that the kids are allowed to wear shoes in and touch the windows

HappyDaddy · 12/12/2007 13:13

So his car is his little way of staying young? Bless him.

Personally I want to buy something that says I'm a great dad with a gorgeous wife and cool kids, I'm stylish and am secure in who I am.

But that's just me

TinyTimLivesinVictorianSqualor · 12/12/2007 13:15

He's only 23, I think his car is what says, yes, I have a family and a house and all this responsibilty but don't get me a pipe and slippers just yet!

binklebells · 12/12/2007 13:16

OH dear HappyDaddy, the marketing bods have got you good havent they...

'...it's not a car, it's a LIFESTYLE etc etc etc'

I can see the storyboard for the ad now...

HappyDaddy · 12/12/2007 13:17

HappyDaddy · 12/12/2007 13:18

Now Shogun's are just Fugly. Big square boxes with two tone crap colour schemes.

I'm sure yours is lovely though.

I liked our Cayenne but the X5 is nicer inside by far (and outside too) although I do miss the little button to lower the suspension so the dog doesnt have far to jump down out of the boot that the Cayenne had. See, 4 x4 are practical - showing off isnt in it!!

HappyDaddy · 12/12/2007 14:18

Are you both WAGs?

Not me, old BAG maybe....

binklebells · 12/12/2007 14:21

Ohh, notjustmom, do you want to compare sporty little things now?

HappyDaddy · 12/12/2007 14:22

I like 4x4s but only like some of them. To me, most of them are ugly but I do like Range Rovers, Discoverys and the Q7. I have expensive tastes.

HappyDaddy · 12/12/2007 14:23

I have a boring car so, really, most of my comments are born of jealousy. Apart from those against the X5 or the Cayenne. If I did get a 4x4 I would want a proper good one, not just the women's choice ones.

binklebells · 12/12/2007 14:23

See, I not overly keen on the ones you listed apart from the Q7 which is ni-ice.

binklebells · 12/12/2007 14:24

Absolutely, I hardly ever pass a bloke in a X5, nor did I in the Cayenne, it was all up-their-own-arses ladies who lunch types like me

DWs mate buys cars purely because she thinks it shows what a great lifestyle she has. Unfortunately, she has no money so buys cheap versions of the type. She has recently bought a 7 year old Freelander, as her sister just bought an new X5, to keep up. She ignores all the well documented problems but will complain when her car breaks down.

She is the type of car buyer who gets on my nerves.

HappyDaddy · 12/12/2007 14:27

Can you tell I want a new car and am peeved cos I can't afford one?
