To be pi**ed off at behaviour of 4x4 driver

Earlier today I pulled out of a side road to park my rather humble ford focus after having a good look. dd asleep in the back, when I got beeped my the driver of a 4x4 BMW monstrosity who'd roared up behind me going at about 40mph (I live on school lane and it's called that for a very valid reason 3 schools within half a mile) in a 20zone.

As I parked he then pulled up beside me and started tapping his head as in "are you mental?" gesture, I shrugged and mouthed "what" at him in response and he went to get out of the car!!?! His passenger stopped him in time tho and he just roared off.

I'm fuming who the f**k do these idiots think they are!?!

And yes, I am ranting against 4x4 drivers, I know I'm making a massive generalisation and before you jump in no, I'm not jealous because I can't afford one!!

auntyspan, that's what I'd do in reality. I LOVE audis. I have a Ford Mondeo now and the only thing I don't like about the A4 is taht it's smaller than my Mondeo. If I could afford an A6, on the other hand...

Tortington · 12/12/2007 12:00

HappyDaddy · 12/12/2007 12:11

Rovers are ugly AND shite.

How about this? www.rsportscars.com/eng/cars/audi_rs6.asp

Tortington · 12/12/2007 12:19

whilst i love audis - there aint 'owt sexy about an audi estate.

i dont think a sexy estate car exists.

( btw am loving this car porn )

HappyDaddy · 12/12/2007 12:21

Audi estates are the only etates remotely attractive.

I find myself waiting for dd to grow up so i can buy a sporty car. But then I'll have to accept im middle aged and sad.

Tortington · 12/12/2007 12:22

and bald - all middle aged psortscar drivers are also bald

and i would add - usually short

HappyDaddy · 12/12/2007 12:24

i'll have to choose something else then. a powerful family saloon for instance.

Tortington · 12/12/2007 12:38

saloon much more becoming.

HappyDaddy · 12/12/2007 12:41

I hate mercs, personally. Expensive but with cheap plastic interiors. Bmws are still too brash and look at me. Audi says I have style.

Jag interiors are gorgeous, they need to update the exterior styling though.

Tortington · 12/12/2007 12:45

audi interior porn

HappyDaddy · 12/12/2007 12:48

I've just printed that on laminated paper so i can lick it.

real car porn

binklebells · 12/12/2007 12:48

I drive a 4 x 4 (and also a hybrid - preen) and occasionally act like and idiot - pull out when I shouldnt etc but no more so than any other distracted mother in a car.

Nothing to do with the car I can be equally idiotic which ever car I am using that day. Just like the rest of us.

HappyDaddy · 12/12/2007 12:52

You can't preen if you drive a hybrid and a 4x4, the hybrid only offsets the coughing your 4x4 does.

binklebells · 12/12/2007 12:53

exactly! Am offsetting self therefore - Preeeeeennnn!!

HappyDaddy · 12/12/2007 12:53

All that preening at the wheel explains your crap driving.

binklebells · 12/12/2007 12:55

What? Look I only put my lipstick on in the mirror when the 4 x 4 is in cruise control mode on the motorway 'kay??

HappyDaddy · 12/12/2007 12:56

That's ok, I make sure that I only sort my hair when parked on those special zig zag parking lines outside school. They are so handy.

TinyTimLivesinVictorianSqualor · 12/12/2007 13:04

We have a BMW 330 at the moment, dp loves it but it isn't at all practical for three children, so I've sid I want him to sell it, after calming him down and telling him, no, an M3 does not equate to a more appropriate family car he is looking at X5's.

Sorry if anyone doesn't want us to have one, we do live in the country opposite a farm, so maybe it will be acceptable, but we are getting one because we like it so there.

bystander · 12/12/2007 13:05

you guys are funny!

binklebells · 12/12/2007 13:07

TinyTim, we used to have an M3 - scared the crap out of me - far too powerful. We now have a 4 x4 4.8i which I have to say I love and we dont really live by a farm but I know where there is one nearby.

Sorry to be flippant to anyone cross about 4 x4's but the owness is on the manufacturer to address eco issues - there is only so much the consumer can do.

As for bad driving - the 'complete sweeping generalisation' prize this week goes to op!!

HappyDaddy · 12/12/2007 13:07

But X5s are known to be awful off road. Topgear got one stuck in some slight mud, it had to be towed out. X5s are for show only. If you need a 4x4 get something proper that also looks good. Land Rover, Range Rover, Audi.

If he loves BMW so much, get a 5 series.

TinyTimLivesinVictorianSqualor · 12/12/2007 13:09

He thinks 5series are for old people
I just want an A4

TinyTimLivesinVictorianSqualor · 12/12/2007 13:10

oh and by the country I mean we can see cows, we still have normal roads

HappyDaddy · 12/12/2007 13:10

Old people? Sod that the 530d is the best car on the market. Goes like stink too.

A4 1.8T Quattro. GOes like stink and has 4 wheel drive. What more could you ask for?
