I dunno. I like it though (except for the rug just because it doesn't really "go' stylisti cally). It looks a bit luxe, with the fluffy pillows and damask wallpaper. I don"t know why people are being so mean - I definitely prefer this look to the uniquitous "grey everywhere, mirrored furniture, crushed velvet sofa, minimalist kitchen' bore-fest! Or navy panellin (yawn).

Apparently anything older than 10-15yrs is fair game for being labelled as "retro". This looks like late 90's early 2000 to me so the retro label makes sense.

Unfortunately, the first time I looked at this picture, the two things that caught my eye were the bannister, which looks like a folded-up ironing board, and the carpet which brought back SCREAMING memories of the carpet in the common room of my university halls of residence, and now I can't unsee either of them.

I can't think of a word to describe the style. I would say it doesn't have a style, it seems a bit of a mish mash.

It's someone trying to follow the trends but on a basic budget and doing their best. Not my taste but each to their own.

I have no idea why people are being so fucking rude about someone's home (which looks absolutely fine to me). I agree with the PP who said it's very easy to say this kind of stuff online but would people making comments like this, actually walk into someone's house and say "your house is shit and your front room looks like a squat"?

If you would, well, you're just a rude insensitive knobhead. If you realise that this wouldn't be an acceptable thing to say in RL - then why are you saying it from behind a screen?
