Who would vote Tory and why?

@LizzieW1969
Self ID is a major issue for me, especially since this is already impacting heavily on my 2 DDs of 12 and 9. It doesn’t mean that I’ve decided to vote Tory, but it is a major concern that I would like the Labour Party to take seriously.

Are the Conservatives taking it seriously? It seems to me that they have been in power for a long time, so they had the opportunity to do something about it. Why haven't they?

Well, they dropped it, so yeah, in a way, they have done something about it - they didn't make it law or amend the GRA Hmm

Sorry, but you'll need to find something else to Tory bash - however, there's plenty of material to choose from so it shouldn't take you long.

I would vote Conservative because how can I vote for a party that doesn’t even acknowledge my sex let alone any areas of legislation that might affect me based on my sex? If they don’t speak for me as a woman then there’s just no way I can vote for them as they don’t represent me or my interests at all.

It amazes me how misogynist Labour are - on so many levels - but particularly this:

On a very sad note, it has just upset me to read that two hours ago Frank Field (for whose work I have the utmost respect as a sincere politician) has announced that he is terminally ill and unable to participate in the debate on assisted dying today. He will be sorely missed because there's no one who has stepped up to assume his mantle. One of the stars.

There ought to be a ‘none of the above’ option, rather than spoiling the ballot paper.,

I did once vote for the Monster Raving Loony candidate, because I was so disenchanted with all the others.

Next time probably LD - it’s always a close call between Tory/LD here, Labour come nowhere, not that I’d vote for them anyway, given their stance on women.

BTW I do wish people posting about Starmer would get his name right.
It’s Keir, not Kier.

Oh, that's very sad news. I like Frank Fields. He always comes across as a rational, thoughtful man who endeavours to see all sides of an argument. He's that rare politician that can be admired by all sides.

Aren't the LD's just as bad? I lost interest when Jo Swinson was leader so I don't know if they've improved at all

That is very sad about Frank Field. I have always admired him, even though I didn't agree with everything he said.
It is depressing that we are losing the brightest and the best brains on all sides of the house. I am old enough to have heard many of them speak on many subjects.
I dread to think what we will do without Emma Nicholson and Robert Winston, to name just a couple.
Most of the younger lot leave me in despair.

I’ve changed my mind since I posted on the first page of this thread. Boris Johnson has shown support for the LGB Alliance when all the other parties are calling them a hate group, so my next vote will most likely be Conservative now.

I agree with you, I’m glad that Boris Johnson has supported the LGB Alliance, I’m shocked at the homophobia displayed towards this group.

Might vote tory. Never have before, always Labour. Actually not true, once Lib Dem.

I would not be happy to vote for Labour at the moment and my local Tory MP seems pretty decent. But it's very much a lose-lose situation.

BrilliantBetty · 22/10/2021 22:27

And would vote tory Mayor of London if it would help get S K & comrades out of city hall.
