Woman driving at protesters

The woman driving at protestors this week in the news, in a range rover that it turns out, isn’t taxed, hasn’t got a valid MOT & therefore insurance

Should have it impounded as she’s driving it illegally to take her son to school AIBU to think you can’t driving round illegally and then shout at protestors blocking the road - regardless of the rights or wrongs of the protestors or how annoying she may find them

You can't go around running people over because they annoy you

LoisWooookersonsLastNerve · 17/10/2021 17:20

What I don't understand is why they can't let some people through? Surely they can protest without holding up people with medical emegancies etc. I'm sure there were similar protests in the past but it was targeted at commercial vehicles. Not that I agree with either.

Proudboomer · 17/10/2021 17:23

No, they're not. They're causing inconvenience. Which is what protests do

the woman who was stuck in the back of her sons car having a stroke who now is going to be disabled for the rest of her life as she didn’t get to treatment fast enough was more than al title inconvenienced

knittingaddict · 17/10/2021 17:24

Actually I may be wrong about recognising the op, so I'll report my post. I don't want to get things wrong.

Vallmo47 · 17/10/2021 17:24

They give me the utter rage. Way more than an untaxed car.

OnlyCans · 17/10/2021 17:24

@SheWoreYellow as someone that works in insurance, I can confirm that @billyt is 100% correct. I was flabbergasted when I first found out but it's true. An MOT is only actually good for the day it's done. Who's to say that it would pass 100 days later?

However, they won't pay out for any mechanical fault (MOT or not) so if having an MOT would mean that the fault was picked up and fixed then fine but if it has nothing to do with the circumstances of the accident then it will only affect your payout by either the cost of an MOT or a % or payout. The most I've seen is 10%.

OnlyCans · 17/10/2021 17:27

%of payout and 10% deduction of payout to clarify. That 10% was someone taking the absolute piss but most ins companies simply deduct the government standard cost. Most things are simply an adjustment of payout.

sst1234 · 17/10/2021 17:27

20 please needing an MOT? Well that story unravelled fast then.

mumwon · 17/10/2021 17:28

I keep wondering if anyone will tip their coffee tea bottle of water over their heads (I would be strongly tempted - but I wouldn't drive over them)
& by the way when travelling through London, dear mn, take your nail polish remover/acetone with you (& offer it if the protesters have glued themselves to the road whatever) & cotton wool

knittingaddict · 17/10/2021 17:29

I can't even find this with a google search. What is the point in posting and not telling us when, where or who? What a waste of everyones' time.

Dojacatpaws · 17/10/2021 17:33

Mumwon, what if they weren't impeding your journey in any way?

FourTeaFallOut · 17/10/2021 17:34

Well of course the type of person who is happy to drive around illegally is more likely
to be the type of person to say 'fuck it' and drive into those useless insulate Britain muppets fucking up the road for media attention. Confused

Proudboomer · 17/10/2021 17:37

As a matter of general interest I watched the clip on YouTube. Made a note of the registration number and ran it though the government database.
The car is a Land Rover velar registered June 2020. First mot due 24 the June 2024
So with one simple search shows the op is posting bollocks

ivykaty44 · 17/10/2021 17:38

I was under the impression if you didn’t have car tax the rest was invalid, but if I stand corrected

Oh really? @OnlyCans

I was just going on what I’d heard and on googling, eg www.comparethemarket.com/car-insurance/content/insurance-without-mot/

It’s one of those things I feel like I should know, as a fully fledged grownup. Grin

Where is the evidence that this woman (who I can't find anything about) drove illegally? The op hasn't posted any real information yet and at least one of the things she's moaning about isn't true.
ivykaty44 · 17/10/2021 17:39

@Proudboomer

So did you find it was taxed?

OP posts:
MrsSChylowen · 17/10/2021 17:42

Can't get the rage about that woman when those nugget protesters prevented an ambulance getting someone to hospital.
Shame on them!

DumplingsAndStew · 17/10/2021 17:43

@ivykaty44

You said the car didn't have a valid MOT then submitted proof of this via a screenshot of a licence number that states the car is MOTed?? 🤔
mumwon · 17/10/2021 17:44

@Dojacatpaws First I said I would be tempted NOT that I would do it
Second if they were only blocking my route for a short period - why would I do anything?
& actually what worries me with the public pulling people off the road is actually that they might hurt them - think about if they glue themselves! & I really can't see me dashing forward with acetone to the rescue!
However, even in normal times when they blocked people at the Blackwall Tunnel - that goes off the charts for inconvenience - its an appalling place for traffic jams. I always worry what would happen if you got stuck anywhere near there (no loos!) for hours

OnlyCans · 17/10/2021 17:46

@SheWoreYellow I think they try and hide it and I'll never understand it as it seems the easiest way to get out of paying the claim but I think something happened legally that basically proved what it says on that page you just sent... Technically, having a MOT only proves that your car was roadworthy at the time it was tested. And, in the same vein, not having a valid MOT doesn’t necessarily mean that your car isn’t roadworthy – you may have simply forgot to take it in for the test. So, the question of whether your insurance will be valid depends on if the car was roadworthy when you drove it. To be on the safe side, it’s always best to have an MOT.

I think with insurance, if it's an honest mistake they are normally quite understanding. For example, if you forgot to change your address, they will deduct any additional premium you should have paid from your payout but if you lied about your address because they don't provide insurance at that address or someone else's name is on the car but you drive it to get cheaper insurance then they won't payout.

FourTeaFallOut · 17/10/2021 17:47

knittingaddict ... I was too lazy to rtft Blush So, she was insured? I'll go back to the start.

DarlingFell · 17/10/2021 17:49

@Dojacatpaws

You can't go around running people over because they annoy you
More’s the pity
SheWoreYellow · 17/10/2021 17:51

That’s interesting, @OnlyCans thanks
I was thinking that if it was out of date you’d be in trouble.

I’ll try and make sure I don’t drive without an MOT or tax in any case Grin
