Woman driving at protesters

The woman driving at protestors this week in the news, in a range rover that it turns out, isn’t taxed, hasn’t got a valid MOT & therefore insurance

Should have it impounded as she’s driving it illegally to take her son to school AIBU to think you can’t driving round illegally and then shout at protestors blocking the road - regardless of the rights or wrongs of the protestors or how annoying she may find them

Another example of it not being easy.

@drpet49

* It was pure aggression. But probably doesn't count on MN because she's not a middle-aged man and their non-violent protest makes them "twats". *

^This. That woman should be prosecuted.

I did wonder how the thread would have gone had it been a red-faced man throwing a tantrum and trying to intimidate women out of his way with his vehicle.

You won't have to wait long. If they continue to impact the general public and the most vulnerable instead of those in positions to male changes more incidents will follow.

No matter how justified they think their cause is or how unsavoury the victim is they shouldn't be sitting in the road. It's unsafe and massively selfish.
They've just happened to have found an environmental issue to campaign for that requires no effort on their part. When they start campaigning for meat being rationed or start physically going through the rubbish bins to ensure recycling isn't contaminated then I'll believe this noble.saviour schtick.

The latter would actually make a HUGE difference if done on a large scale.

Bythemillpond · 22/10/2021 09:28

The biggest threat to the environment is meat eating.

Why not protest over that or do people enjoy their meat too much to actually want to make a difference to climate change.

Everything else is just fiddling around the edges and picking and choosing what you want to do and not really making any sacrifices.

I know someone who is very proud of the fact that they have made a commitment never to get on a plane to go on holiday again.
The fact she has only ever got on a plane twice to go on holiday and to return from said holiday and thinks flying is her worse nightmare is the equivalent of me signing up to stop drinking alcohol for a month.

KayKayWat · 22/10/2021 10:07

I think overpopulation is the real issue. I can't see much else working whilst the majority of the population continue to have children, who will also have children, and so on.

WhenWillISleepThroughTheNight · 22/10/2021 11:04

I don't think that by not having children we will reduce our population. Fewer young people here will mean we need to invite more people from overseas to come and work here. It's not as simple as restricting people's families.

Bythemillpond

could you show me the stats you've git for meat being the biggest threat to the environment?

@DdraigGoch

The woman driving at protestors...

I can't be the only one who read this sentence in the OP and was disappointed when I actually saw the video.

What were you expecting?🤔
Smileyaxolotl1 · 22/10/2021 21:31

Those citing the MPs death as a reason why these waste of space twats should be left alone should be ashamed of yourselves.

It is utterly offensive that you are comparing an MP doing his job and murdered by a terrorist to protesters deliberately putting themselves in the road and not giving a shit about anyone else’s lives including letting people die in ambulances and stopping people saying goodbye to dying loved ones.
If they don’t like being hit they should just move. David Amess had no such choice.

KayKayWat · 23/10/2021 18:46

I don't think that by not having children we will reduce our population.

I meant on a global basis.

The more people have cars/houses/go on holiday/etc, the worse it will all become. And yes we need ever more young people to care for the elderly, but this problem is unlikely to change, so we may have to ultimately choose between ongoing environmental catastrophe or difficulty for a few generations.

KayKayWat · 23/10/2021 18:52

During lockdown, I was surprised by how many people were saying of the elderly "we can't stop society for the sake of one demographic".

I firmly believe that the only reason lots of people don't say this about the environmental side of things is because it seems relatively far off. I'm not saying we should sacrifice any demographic for the greater good, but I'm amazed how many people say "we can't reduce the population because we need carers", when many weren't quite so altruistic when they had to stay inside which is a much lesser problem than the eventual death of humanity.
