Dog poo knife

DH has ‘dared’ me to post this, so convinced he is you’ll be on his side…

DS stood in dog poo, DH said he scraped it off using a dinner knife out of the kitchen drawer. I said wtf - hope that knife’s in the bin now?! No says he - dishwasher, or actually kitchen sink, waiting to go in dishwasher.

AIBU to think this is a shitshow and he should have put it in the bin (if it makes a difference our knife collection is on the ‘eclectic’ side so it wouldn’t be mucking up a ‘set’ to chuck one), or is he right that a quick wash and then back in gobs 🤢 is fine?!

If it was cleaned and sterilised, I still could never use it again.

Lookwhoseinsideagain · 15/10/2021 18:06

I am slothenly, unclean and believe a bit of dirt and bacteria is a good thing.

But that is GRIM

whateveryousay · 15/10/2021 18:06

It’s grim. But I would keep the knife, after boiling it.

olivesnutsandcheeseplease · 15/10/2021 18:07

One uses a stick or something disposable for removing dog poo. That your DH has put it in the sink rather than immediately washed it in boiling water with soap etc is rank and unsafe.

It's a bit like someone (heard of it on here) washing their dog pooey pram wheels in the dishwasher.

Your DH is an idiot

ErrolTheDragon · 15/10/2021 18:08

It should be thoroughly washed and then stored somewhere (maybe with garden tools) for future non-food uses.

SentDeliveredRead · 15/10/2021 18:08

I'd wipe it, wrap it up and save it for the next time he stands in it or you need it to clean something messy up

TrueRefuge · 15/10/2021 18:09

Horrendous. Chuck the knife! (And use a bloody stick next time!)

Waspsarearseholes · 15/10/2021 18:09

That knife would just now become the shit knife and be kept on a shelf by the back door for the next time someone one inevitably steps in a turd. I couldn't use it again to cut up my food, no matter how many times it was washed, bleached, rinsed and boiled. I hope he's elbow deep in bleaching your sink at the moment too. Dirty bugger.

BreadmanAndCake · 15/10/2021 18:10

This just reminds me of the scene in the Royle Family where Barbara is over the sink chipping dog shit off a trainer with a knife Envy

FellInLoveWithABanana · 15/10/2021 18:10

I could maybe use it in the future to open a tin of paint. Maybe.

Lonelycrab · 15/10/2021 18:11

Urgh no don’t put it in the dishwasher Envy

But do keep it outside as the official poo scraper knife Grin

ItsAHardKn0ckLife1 · 15/10/2021 18:11

Nope nope nope 🤢

toolazytothinkofausername · 15/10/2021 18:13

LTB.

@ErrolTheDragon

This! I wouldn‘t throw it, but it could be used for garden work, opening tins of paint etc. Well away from the food cutlery!
HollysBush · 15/10/2021 18:15

God no you can’t use it again. We have a sick spoon in bathroom drawer. And a scrubby toothbrush. I tie a bit of J cloth round these implements, so there’s no confusion.

DroopyClematis · 15/10/2021 18:16

Just wash it in the sink then bung it in the dishwasher.
It's fine.

samwitwicky · 15/10/2021 18:17

If he genuinely believes it to be clean after washing, wash it off in the sink and ask him to lick it Grin

Seriously though, get rid of the knife. Then get rid of your DH

DivorceAdvicePlease123 · 15/10/2021 18:18

Definitely keep it and next time you serve up a roast tell him he's eating with it...

Ijustknowitstimetogo · 15/10/2021 18:18

I’m sorry to say this but you have married utter filth.

Cuddlyrottweiler · 15/10/2021 18:19

Straight in the bin. Rank to even bring it in the house 🤢

Floralnomad · 15/10/2021 18:20

It wouldn’t be going anywhere near my dishwasher , let alone back in the cutlery drawer .

Mymapuddlington · 15/10/2021 18:20

I believe in dirt and germs but this? No. Nope. No way. Nooooo. 🤮

Keladrythesaviour · 15/10/2021 18:21

I would wash it thoroughly (immediately), then again on hot soapy water/with some bleach and THEN put it through the dishwasher.
I wouldn't throw it away because it's wasteful and if you've cleaned it within an inch of its life it's not got dog poo on it any more. My dog managed to get poo on her own collar, all stuck in the buckle (don't ask) and after a good clean she's wearing it again. Admittedly we don't put that in our mouth, but we do touch it a lot, and we also had to clean it with our own hands and I haven't chopped those off either.

Leaving it in the sink is grim. Putting it through the dishwasher without washing it first is grim when I think of the food bits my dishwasher leaves on items.... But he's NBU for wanting to save the knife from landfill.

Tal45 · 15/10/2021 18:21

I'm a dirty minger but that would be going in the bin. The thought of eating using that makes me want to throw up. Even the fact it's been in the sink 9shudder) - can you bin that too?

SpiceRat · 15/10/2021 18:21

If you’re cleaning your dishes properly it’ll be fine, this this literally how cleaning works, especially a non porous material like steel.

It’s weird his first thought was to grab a kitchen knife to clean shit off a shoe though.
