Dog poo knife

DH has ‘dared’ me to post this, so convinced he is you’ll be on his side…

DS stood in dog poo, DH said he scraped it off using a dinner knife out of the kitchen drawer. I said wtf - hope that knife’s in the bin now?! No says he - dishwasher, or actually kitchen sink, waiting to go in dishwasher.

AIBU to think this is a shitshow and he should have put it in the bin (if it makes a difference our knife collection is on the ‘eclectic’ side so it wouldn’t be mucking up a ‘set’ to chuck one), or is he right that a quick wash and then back in gobs 🤢 is fine?!

Just wash it thoroughly in hot water and soap, then boil at and wash again. It’s not like if you get a bit of dog poo on you hand you chop your hand off and throw it away. You can clean things and that knife will most likely end up being the cleanest knife you own.

HomeSliceKnowsBest · 16/10/2021 07:35

Yuck. LTDirtyB. Bet he washes his penis beaker in the dishwasher too?

HomeSliceKnowsBest · 16/10/2021 07:36

Also, I am dissapointed this isn't about a dog poo so large it needed slicing prior to bagging.

Offmyfence · 16/10/2021 07:51

@TrueRefuge

Horrendous. Chuck the knife! (And use a bloody stick next time!)
This!
PetriDisher · 16/10/2021 07:56

For heaven's sake, I'm assuming your knife is metal so don't throw it away!

Sterilise it properly, absolutely, and tell him not to leave it in the bloody sink or to just put it straight in the dishwasher (both very unhygienic) but all this "it'll never be clean again!" is also ridiculous for grown adults.

CaptainMyCaptain · 16/10/2021 08:01

@BreadmanAndCake

This just reminds me of the scene in the Royle Family where Barbara is over the sink chipping dog shit off a trainer with a knife Envy
That's exactly what sprung to my mind. The knife should now be kept separately for that purpose only.

This is what I'd do.

I haven't thrown away trainers after standing in dog poo, they are harder to clean than a knife (yes I know I'm not going to eat with my trainers)

Straighttalking1 · 16/10/2021 09:25

That's straight up filthy business. That shoe wouldn't make it in my house and be dealt with in the shed with a stick or high pressure wash. DH is wrong !!! In the sink !!!! Find it, mark the knife as Daddy's knife. Lol nobody else can use it. Grin

OneTC · 16/10/2021 09:53

I'm an absolute scumbag but that knife would be relegated to shit scraping forever

Cantunscrambleanegg · 16/10/2021 09:56

Hahahahaha vindication at last!

I’m tempted to come on here for soo many of our fall-outs. The man lives on another planet and loves a good YABU eye roll and ‘it’s fiiiiine’ at me. Atrocious poogaslighter!

Re throwing the washing up bowl away - he put it in the sink, not the bowl. Therefore I might need to chuck the whole sink/ kitchen? Maybe DH can keep it when I rightly LTDirtyB?

Alas this sort of behaviour isn’t at all out of character for the filth bag. My mind’s gone blank, but I’m going to think and come back with other topics for you all the cast your reason (I’ve had great fun screen shotting and sending him your best work from this thread! Tempted to put some of it in a frame!)

OP posts:
DrinkFeckArseBrick · 16/10/2021 10:35

Why the fuck did he put it in the sink? What if someone else had given it a cursory wash then used it?

KayKayWat · 16/10/2021 10:38

Imagine the horror if it had got mixed in with the rest!

dentydown · 16/10/2021 10:41

It would be ok, if bleached. I wouldn’t use it though. It would always be at the back of my mind. Barbecue skewers would have been appropriate for this situation

PlasticCupPolitics · 16/10/2021 10:51

Fuck that, no matter how much it had been cleaned/sterilised I’d always be wondering if I was eating my dinner with the dog shit knife

KayKayWat · 16/10/2021 16:27

I'd struggle to use it again. Which is odd as most people will happily lick that fingers despite most having at some point touched grim stuff.

That's what I expected!
Coka · 17/10/2021 15:03

Hahaha I'm remembering the guy whose family kept a poo knife next to the toilet and he thought it was normal. 😂

Probably less gross than this post though actually. 😂

LoveFall · 15/10/2021 21:13

Ok, it seems I am inclined in an opposite direction.

The question I would ask is what possible harm can come from thoroughly cleaning the knife and putting it back in circulation?

Are all the other posters just psychologically unable to deal with it?

What about things like surgical instruments? They get bodily fluids all over them and are reused after cleaning.

My issue would be using the kitchen sink for the poo removing job. Yuck. But we don't have a laundry or outside sink.

Just clean the knife, soak in bleach and get on with life!

Surely you use a bucket or similar if you dont have a laudry sink. Or actually even if you have a laundry sink. Why would you scrape a poo into any sink.

MichaelGovesLeftNostril · 11/11/2022 19:41

@katepilar Why would you bump a year old thread for absolutely no good reason? 🙄
