To ask how often you shower

Inspired by a lot of comments posted in a recent thread on here! (Apologies if there is already a thread on here as I'm not too sure how to navigate MN fully yet.)

How often do you shower/have a bath? Twice a day, daily, couple times a week, weekly etc. If you don't shower daily, do you just have a quick sink wash on the days you don't shower or do you simply brush your teeth and straight out of the door? I'm intrigued to know and hoping people will be a bit more honest as it's an anonymous forumWink

On this recent thread, a poster had made several comments saying they don't understand how people only wash themselves with their hands and not a flannel or sponge. AIBU to think that using your hands to wash is quite common and seems to be done by the majority?

There was also a comment by another poster about not washing their legs in the shower as soap and hot water runs down them so no need to focus on these areas specifically.
Quite a random topic but I'm intrigued to hear from other people on here

Bath every day though I've managed to stop washing my hair every day

SockFluffInTheBath · 14/10/2021 22:24

Twice a day but fast- quick soap up/shampoo, rinse off and out.

LubaLuca · 14/10/2021 22:25

Daily.

BakingOfTheFoodCats · 14/10/2021 22:25

Daily

ILiedAboutBeingTheOutdoorType · 14/10/2021 22:25

Twice a day

Imwearingtrousers · 14/10/2021 22:27

Daily shower, maybe twice if I go to the gym. Really quick. Even the word 'flannel' makes me feel 🤢

BarbaraWoodlouse · 14/10/2021 22:27

Shower daily. I don’t pay particular attention to my legs 🤨

Rumplestrumpet · 14/10/2021 22:27

You'll find some on either extreme but think I'm probably quite average in showering every day - not because I'm dirty or smelly (I rarely smell, and it's usually stress-induced) but because it wakes me up and I like it. I'm glad I don't have to worry about the cost of it but I do try to be quick to save unnecessary water and energy wastage.

I use very little soap as I'm not actually dirty (I used to use more when I went to the gym regularly) and don't bother with a flannel. Wash my hair every few days

DramaAlpaca · 14/10/2021 22:27

Every morning

snoopyfloops · 14/10/2021 22:27

Every morning and before bed in warmer months

Offmyfence · 14/10/2021 22:28

Daily but no flannel Envy

shower ever other day, because any more than that my excema plays up, hair washed 2-3 times a week or it strips the natural oils in your hair and dries it out and snaps
Cheesepuff1 · 14/10/2021 22:28

this has got to be the most asked question on mumsnet.

shower every day, wash hair every other day.

when I had an operation and wasn't allowed to shower for 2 weeks (ugh) a sink wash daily was needed and flannels were used otherwise I didn't feel I was cleaning enough.

Pythonista · 14/10/2021 22:29

There was a thread about this a couple of weeks ago - be warned, it kicked off.

Christmasbird · 14/10/2021 22:29

Every morning without fail. Might take an evening one 3/4 nights out of 7

ApolloandDaphne · 14/10/2021 22:29

I shower and wash my hair daily. I can't start the day properly without doing this.

SnugKnights · 14/10/2021 22:30

Every other day on average. I’ve got a chronic pain condition so it’s painful and tiring which is why don’t do it every day. I wash with a clean flannel if I don’t have a shower that morning.

JoborPlay · 14/10/2021 22:30

Most days. Probably 9 out of 10 days. I'm not a sweaty or smelly person. On days I don't shower I just wash my face and clean my teeth, if I feel more is needed I would shower.

furbabymama87 · 14/10/2021 22:30

I have a bath twice a day. I don't really pay any attention to my legs but I have bubbles in the bath and they aren't dirty.

DrWankincense · 14/10/2021 22:31

Honestly?
I think we are all a bit too clean and unless you do a physical job or are particularly sweaty/exercise a lot there is no need to shower every day.
I would mostly shower every day but sometimes every 2 or 3, depending on my activities.
It's not particularly good for your skin to wash excessively.

Gilly12345 · 14/10/2021 22:31

Daily during majority of the year and twice a day during summer months when particularly hot.

Vbree · 14/10/2021 22:32

Once or twice a day. Hair wash every day. I fine it strange that people wouldn't shower daily but several of my friends don't and look/smell clean.

HintofVintagePink · 14/10/2021 22:32

Alternate between bath and shower each day. Shower is functional for shave and hair washing and bath is de-stress time, with either face pack or hair treatment.

Vbree · 14/10/2021 22:33

I do sweat quite a bit though.

SylvanasWindrunner · 14/10/2021 22:33

Most days but if I've not gone anywhere or done anything then I might skip a day. I take a lot more baths in winter than showers though. And no flannel. I just use shower gel and hands and scrub. I've made it to 35 without anyone telling me I stink so I'll just keep doing what I'm doing!
