To ask how often you shower

Inspired by a lot of comments posted in a recent thread on here! (Apologies if there is already a thread on here as I'm not too sure how to navigate MN fully yet.)

How often do you shower/have a bath? Twice a day, daily, couple times a week, weekly etc. If you don't shower daily, do you just have a quick sink wash on the days you don't shower or do you simply brush your teeth and straight out of the door? I'm intrigued to know and hoping people will be a bit more honest as it's an anonymous forumWink

On this recent thread, a poster had made several comments saying they don't understand how people only wash themselves with their hands and not a flannel or sponge. AIBU to think that using your hands to wash is quite common and seems to be done by the majority?

There was also a comment by another poster about not washing their legs in the shower as soap and hot water runs down them so no need to focus on these areas specifically.
Quite a random topic but I'm intrigued to hear from other people on here

Daily. About as often as this question gets asked Hmm

sendaisnow · 14/10/2021 22:45

Can someone explain the mechanics of a strip/sink bath?

Honestly not being goady. O just don't know how it works. I may need to incorporate it into my life.

Neonplant · 14/10/2021 22:45

Daily normally
But I've been ill with a bad cold and ear infection, in addition I'm recovering from surgery. So occasionally I've been waiting a bit longer like once every 2 days. But not really leaving the house. I'm not very keen on it and looking forward to being back up to full strength.

I'm not judging other people who shower less. It's just not for me on a regular basis.

KeyLimePies · 14/10/2021 22:46

Shower once a day, twice if it’s really hot weather. I use one of those shower puffs or soap with poppy seed type things in it for a good scrub, including legs. I really despise baths though, I just don’t get how people can enjoy sitting in grubby water that gets cold and leaves you looking like a prune.

SpiceRat · 14/10/2021 22:46
@YellowMonday what’s a whores bath???
Sink wash basically.

Onelifeonly · 14/10/2021 22:47

Usually every other day unless I've been for a run or it's particularly hot. Nearly always in the shower, very rarely use the bath. Wash my hair every three to four days - it tends to dryness and isn't greasy. I don't think washing has to be every day and was brought up to bathe every two days.

H1Drangea · 14/10/2021 22:47

Shower and hair wash every morning
No flannel or scrubbie thing , good old bar soap for the body and shampoo for the hair
Can’t stand shower clutter

LittleMysSister · 14/10/2021 22:47

Every evening mostly, although if I'm alone and haven't done much or been out I might skip a day or even 2.

Used to always use a flannel but my DP just uses his hands so I've ended up doing that too. I do prefer a flannel though.

I only wash my legs if they have mud on them or something, they don't get sweaty and are almost always covered by clothing so I don't even think of it tbh!

SpiceRat · 14/10/2021 22:48

Daily usually although finding that a lot harder with an 8 week old so it’s been every other day lately. If I’m going somewhere I’ll always shower though I couldn’t leave the house without a shower (other than to walk the dog)

For me anyway... sink of warm water and flannel with a bit of soap on. Wipe body down.
storkstalk · 14/10/2021 22:48

Every morning at a minimum. If I’m going to the gym then I often shower when I get up, go to the gym and then shower again when I get back. In summer I often also have a cool shower before bed. So..1-3 times a day

NalPolishRemover · 14/10/2021 22:49

Every morning before work. I wash my hair every second day or every day depending on what I'm doing that day.
Very occasionally if I'm off work or at a weekend & im having a lazy house day i won't shower in the morning, but I would before bed that night.
We have a great shower in a really nice bathroom & I'm fortunate enough to have lovely products/ shampoos are so having a shower is a pleasure.
Dh & dc shower daily too

LittleMysSister · 14/10/2021 22:49

PS. Wash my hair about every 5 days unless I have a reason to do it more frequently (swimming), but it's curly and advice is to try and wash it less and with sulfate/silicone free products. I find it doesn't get greasy much now.

Every evening before bed I have a bath or shower not only to get clean but because I find it relaxing at the end of the day. I rarely get up early enough to shower first thing.

Still1nLove · 14/10/2021 22:50

Every evening in the summer. I’m averaging every 2 days atm. Always after the gym. I have been known to have a shower on a Thursday and then not again until Sunday evening when I’ll have a bath, this is on weekends when my kids are at their dad’s and I don’t have to leave the house!
This week I had a shower on Monday after the gym, a quick shower on Wednesday before work and this evening, a quick wipe of my pits and lady parts before the gym and I’ve just gotten out of the shower. No plans to shower tomorrow

ChocolateinBrugges · 14/10/2021 22:50

It depends, usually every other day or every three days but once on a while it will be longer if we have colds in the house etc

Defender90 · 14/10/2021 22:50

I shower daily (will only miss a shower if I've overslept) and wash hair every second day unless third day is a Sunday and I'm not going anywhere I'll leave the hair til Monday.

RoseMartha · 14/10/2021 22:51

Shower most days. Have a bath about once a fortnight. Have a strip wash if I dont shower. Used to be more of a bath person but my hot water pressure isnt great and it takes about ten mins to fill the bath to a quarter full, plus unless i froth the water and bubble bath together with my hand it doesnt bubble.

Yes I use a flannel particularly when I get soap in my eyes in the shower. Wash them frequently.

Wash my hair 2-3 x a week.

Coffeeand · 14/10/2021 22:51

I shower every time someone starts a thread about showering.

mountbattenbergcake · 14/10/2021 22:52

I can go days without showering and not smell. This isn’t me being nose blind, it’s confirmed by DH and other family and friends.

However, as I get older, I do feel more hot and like the feeling of being showered , so have daily showers in the summer but the rest of the time it could be every 2/3 days, especially if WFH.

Hair is washed Mondays and Wednesdays with a wash on Saturday as well if going out.

Once a month, I use a loofah to scrub down body.

I have quite sensitive skin, so there is always the fear that a shower will trigger a reaction, but thankfully this is much better now that I’ve stopped using fabric conditioner.

indecis · 14/10/2021 22:52

Every other day, I don't really sweat though. If I'm doing something particularly strenuous then may do it daily, and sometimes jump in for a quick 5 mins without washing my hair. I don't really worry about it, I think just do it when you feel like you need to!

Grumpyosaurus · 14/10/2021 22:53

Daily, usually shower, sometimes bath. Wash hair every four days (mt hair is a pain, takes ages, or I'd probably do it more often).

I think we're too clean these days. My parents were both born before WWII. They bathed about every 3 days, and washed faces, necks and sometimes armpits in between.

queenofarles · 14/10/2021 22:53

Twice a day, hair every other day.
I can’t go to bed without taking a shower.
No flannel , I use gentle exfoliating soap at night and body wash at mornings .

TheShades · 14/10/2021 22:55

Probably averages once a day. Nearly every morning but I might skip the odd one if I'm not going out, but then I might have 2 if it's particularly hot, I've been to the gym later in the day or I'm going out in the evening.
