Cleaning emergency

Posting for traffic and liberal use of the word emergency here but DH put DD colouring book on our wet kitchen table and it’s left a huge stain and I can’t get it out. The kitchen table is white plastic from harveys. I’ll upload a picture. Anyone know how to get stains out of the table or do I have to toss it and DH in the bin?

The stain has now faded, don’t get me wrong, my heart and soul knows it’s still there but it’s no longer visible to the casual table observer. Bought some magic erasers and they didn’t do a whole lot, that colouring book dye is some powerful stuff lol.

I’m still contemplating ‘treating myself’ to a more robust and new table, it’s also a little chipped from DD’s knife and fork bashing.

Update on DH, he loves to destroy another day, the universe is currently teaching him a lesson, he’s been afflicted with a cold.

Thread looks like it's err, moved on but for what it's worth:

  1. Cut a lemon and rub it over stain. Leave overnight.
  2. Bar Keepers Friend. That shit removes ANYTHING including ancient rust stains from tin cans in a drawer in the house we bought. A hundred years of soot build up on the window of a log burner. Didn't harm the surface at all and I now clean everything with it.
  3. We have a white surface that seems to absorb wine/curry stains. They don't go immediately but regular lemon rubbing and it's gone in a week or so.

I’ve had good results by squeezing a load of fairy liquid over a stain on a worktop and then washing off some time later.

Dunelm has a good range of oil cloths (although I think they are really the pvc ones) in store. John Lewis too.

CactusFlowers · 13/10/2021 16:41

If you do buy oil cloth buy another piece of whatever is in the discount bin for the children to do painting/craft on as it also stains.

Have you tried warm bleachy water. ?

@Notmoresugar

YABVU Your poor DH and DD! Take a step back, breath and acknowledge how lovely that your DD and DH do that lovely activity together. Not all DC can draw, so don't discourage it, but appreciate how lucky you are. It will come out - there are a lot of different methods and advice on the internet.
I just read this gem. Lol thanks for your perspective. If you couldn’t tell my post was quite tongue in cheek. Although I did want cleaning tips

DH just had his allowance docked and DD is still colouring mad. Don’t worry they are fine.

@Sleeplessem we have a white table and had various stains, honestly over time they do just fade away!

Secondly, while you say Harvey’s went bust, your insurance policy isn’t directly with them, probably with a company like Guardsman. I’d say still a possibility to use!

Flash magic sponge may work!

I realise I'm over invested in this thread but I've been in your shoes and want to know if the stain has faded more. I bet it has 😀

Another vote for Barkeepers Friend - bloody marvellous stuff.

Moving House Cleaning
We are in the process of moving from our current 3 bedroom, 2 bathroom house to an apartment. The real estate needs the place cleaned as part of our lease agreement. I have contacted the local cleaners and few other companies for the end of Tenancy clean, the cost are in the hundreds, even the cheapest cleaning quote. Since it is too expensive, I will like to do it myself. Though the house is clean most of the times but I will like to know if any one has ever done move out clean before. I think the real estate agent wants everything cleaned in the house including the oven. I will deeply appreciate any idea and step by step move out clean if you have done it before. Also, I will prefer to use organic cleaning products as this is important for my health and the environment. Please, any assistant will be greatly appreciated.

Dettol mould and mildew remover as it contains bleach. Or just bleach.
I had a white table and remained spotless thanks to that.

Sorry ghost post. How did it even come up!
