Cleaning emergency

Posting for traffic and liberal use of the word emergency here but DH put DD colouring book on our wet kitchen table and it’s left a huge stain and I can’t get it out. The kitchen table is white plastic from harveys. I’ll upload a picture. Anyone know how to get stains out of the table or do I have to toss it and DH in the bin?

@Fraine

Is your H just sat on his arse whilst you try and sort it? Dick.
No I rather suspect he's trying to decide which blanket to take into the dog house or what he might have as his 'last request'
Sleeplessem · 11/10/2021 20:56

DH (the d standing for dead or soon to be) is currently looking for replacement tables that he can buy and I imagine selecting his blanket for the dog house.

He also ruined a load of laundry on the weekend

@Sleeplessem

So far bleach, rubbing alcohol and wd40 haven’t touched it. The bleach has also left a yellow stain on the table. I could cry I’m so mad at ‘D’H
Have you tried some dishwashing liquid?

Dont jeep trying one product after another until you gave washed and rinsed the surface if you risk a reaction between the products.

If I was you I'd give it a good wash/ride and dry it. Then leave it until tomorrow and DH can get some magic sponges.

Bleach often turns white things yellow.

Good luck.

And he broke a toilet seat over the weekend…. Going to be an expensive time for him

What did he do to the laundry?

He might need a water bowl as well, sounds like he might be out there quite some time!

I've had similar on my laminate floor from plastic packaging with water trapped underneath. It took a few weeks but gradually seemed to work its way out with normal cleaning. Nail polish remover also seems to shift most things (but be careful if a gloss finish?).

Stains on my table just fade after a few days. First time it happened I was devastated - but no trace of stain a few days later. Since it’s had curry, felt tips, permanent marker - all kinds. All fades though

Mine too. Just leave it and it will miraculously fade.

Try gently rubbing toothpaste on it. We managed to get pen on a mega fancy sink in a place we were staying. Exactly the same issue as you, a wet bit of paper transferred the writing onto the sink. Toothpaste removed it instantly without scratching.

Yea get a magic eraser and test in a hidden area first

Stain soaked clothes but didn’t separate them by colour…

Don’t ask me what he did to the toilet seat lol

Hairspray love x also very good for permant market on leather

Ericabro · 11/10/2021 21:08

marker lol

WeatherwaxOn · 11/10/2021 21:11

If it is the same sort of surface as you would find on a bath surround/bathroom shelf then toothpaste on a soft cloth might get it off.

MintyGreenDream · 11/10/2021 21:16

When I get similar stains but from hair dye on pvc windowsill I use neat bleach.pour onto area and leave. It always vanishes.

Howareyouflower · 11/10/2021 21:17

Be careful using nail varnish remover, depending on what the table is made of.

MintyGreenDream · 11/10/2021 21:17

Just seen your post about the bleach..

amatsip · 11/10/2021 21:17

Magic eraser slightly damp or the pink stuff should do it.

Peoniesandpeaches · 11/10/2021 21:18

I don’t know if it would work but a paste of damp baking soda lifted a rust stain off my laminate worktop. I just left it sitting for about an hour and it was like it sucked it out of the laminate.

Do we think a glass table is safe for a 2 year old and a 33 year old?

Something similar to the below

purplesequins · 11/10/2021 21:28

tbh O would go with a table cloth

Star81 · 11/10/2021 21:29

Pink stuff will sort it easily

tinkywinkyshandbag · 11/10/2021 21:32

Try nail varnish remover it gets hair dye off my white bathroom worktops

Sleeplessem · 11/10/2021 21:33

Will pop to the shops tomorrow for some pink stuff but the bleach has left a yellow stain too, so it looks pants now.

Anyone got links for decent waterproof table clothes, I’m thinking back to the ones we had as kids and they were not exactly aesthetically pleasing?

Do we think a glass table would be safe for chunks being knocked out of it and general breakage?
