Cleaning emergency

Posting for traffic and liberal use of the word emergency here but DH put DD colouring book on our wet kitchen table and it’s left a huge stain and I can’t get it out. The kitchen table is white plastic from harveys. I’ll upload a picture. Anyone know how to get stains out of the table or do I have to toss it and DH in the bin?

I’d have stuck it in the sunshine for a bit. That usually gets most stains off.

Glass tables are ok, quite durable but a pain to clean. I’d have thought a tablecloth would be the answer.

Can you wipe alcohol gel thoughtfully on DH and make him disappear?

fekthisshiz · 11/10/2021 21:36

Buy a nice table cloth!

purplesequins · 11/10/2021 21:38

Anyone got links for decent waterproof table clothes, I’m thinking back to the ones we had as kids and they were not exactly aesthetically pleasing?

places like dunelm or big diy stores usually have cut to size pvc table cloths in a range of patterns/colours.

poolblue · 11/10/2021 21:38

Just leave it alone. If it's a high gloss table it will fade. Trust me.

Bleach and wd40 aren’t making him disappear either

I found detail power and pure bathroom spray really good for getting stains out off. Spray and leave then wipe.

QuestionableMouse · 11/10/2021 21:42

You don't need a new table. Buy a tablecloth and crack on.

mathanxiety · 11/10/2021 21:43

Have you tried a magic eraser?

Woeismethischristmas · 11/10/2021 21:43

Dettol not detail

FingersofFish · 11/10/2021 21:47

Dunelm for tasteful waterproof table cloths! Get a new table when DH reaches maturity?

home2012 · 11/10/2021 21:48

I had similar happen. Try a dishwasher tablet. Let it dissolve in hot water then use a soft cloth and keep rubbing the Stain.

It's a miracle worker

pussycatlickinglollyices · 11/10/2021 21:48

Don't get a glass table not with his track record
They look fab when they're new (and clean)...but wait until they get scratched and covered in fingerprints.

I’ll be long dead by then

Yellow spray cif has shifted very stubborn stains for me. Spray it on, let it soak before wiping off.

LadyEloise1 · 11/10/2021 22:02

Astonish Oven and Cookware cleaner.
It's fabulous. I use it on my painted wooden kitchen table to remove stains like yours.

justtryingtogeton · 11/10/2021 22:08

Magic eraser and pink stuff are abrasive, you'll rub the lacquer off. I have a high gloss table from Harvey's too, also same staining situation. The table is near a window and I swear the sun has bleached previous stains!

MamaEs · 11/10/2021 22:09

A blob of cif over the stain, completely cover, leave for 5-10 mins then wipe away

Viviennemary · 11/10/2021 22:12

As a last resort try neat bleach.

This is a good shout, as it is indeed a miracle.

But - important to note, it is the hard pressed tablets that you can unwrap.

BoredZelda · 11/10/2021 22:12

She did that. Then asked how to get yellow bleach stains out.

Viviennemary · 11/10/2021 22:13

Oh dear.

Dontstepinthecowpat · 11/10/2021 22:16

Claim your house insurance and they will probably send a professional cleaner. I have a gorgeous wooden table but nobody sees it as it’s covered by a table cover until the DC move out.
