A family with a man who absolutely adores me… 😢

Tabitha005 · 10/10/2021 19:48

Musical talent. I tried and tried and tried with a couple of instruments and many, many lessons, but I just can't get it. Reading music is something I will never, ever be able to learn to do well enough to become even vaguely 'good'.

A best friend. I moved around a lot as a child and can talk to anyone but never seem to be able to form solid friendships.

Mulberry974 · 10/10/2021 19:50

I would love to have a little gang of female friends that I was close to. I do have friends but I'd love people to go on holiday with now that I'm single again.

I also wish that I was someone men find attractive. After my very short marriage that ended with him cheating on me, it just confirmed that men aren't exactly fascinated by me and am only seen as a friend to them.

Happyhappyday · 10/10/2021 19:57

That having a second child is probably a really poor choice for me (multiple miscarriages first time, PND, insomnia for months post birth etc etc). I really want to want it and I’m very afraid of regretting not having… but also afraid of blowing up our family life. I haven’t come to terms with it yet obviously!

I struggle with that too. I moved around quite a bit as a child and then from age 11-16 I was in boarding school which was a very competitive environment as it was a ballet school. Then at 17 I moved aboard to live with my father after my mother died. I then lived in different countries with work during my 20s so I have never had a really close friendship with anyone apart from my husband. I have some mum friends since having children but no best friend.

A Christmas at home that just involves me, DH and my two dc. After 13 years together I am sad we’ve not made our own traditions and spent too many years trying to please/appease others.

Breast lift surgery

A day without pain

A job

A comfortable existence

Something to make my daughter proud of me, instead of struggling to get through each day in agony.

@thepeopleversuswork

A partner who is both my equal in intelligence and who isn’t a vain arsehole.

All the men I have ever had relationships with have either been:

a) kind and caring but not massively bright and sometimes threatened by my intelligence. And I always out-earn them OR
b) very intelligent and talented but narcissistic. emotionally damaged and unreliable.

I have never ever ticked both boxes.

In the scheme of things it’s something I can absolutely live with and my current partner is lovely and his sweetness and generosity more than compensate. But some think that I missed out on a proper soulmate: someone who gets me really deeply but also cherishes me and is committed to me.

I hear you and feel it too. An emptiness that you know will never get filled.

A loving family. It sucks but all I can do is try to create one of my own.

Friendships, I've got my best friend she's like my big sister but she's literally my only friend as I've drifted apart from all my other friends in the last 8 years since having 2 children

AuntMargo · 10/10/2021 20:26
