Naked toddler in swimming pool showers

I take my 2 year old swimming on Fridays. After the session we take a shower in the communal showers, next to the lockers and by the entrance to the pool. I didn't think twice about stripping off her swimming costume to wash her but the lifeguard told me today that she wasn't allowed to be nude 'because it's a public area' and she had to keep it on. Am I being naive in thinking that a naked two year old is really no big deal?

Yanbu - no harm in a naked 2 year old
Yabu - keep the cossie on

Nothing wrong

@Dojacatpaws

Pythonista and drstbaitso, you both are kinda ganging up up on people who don't agree with you, you need to let people have other points of view
The point of view that it's harmless to secretly photo a child naked and share the images with paedophiles, as long as they don't know about it? And refusal to retract it?

No, I'm not going to let that one go unchallenged. You can if you like.

Hamtonn · 10/10/2021 22:54

I don’t undress my child in public. Firstly because I think he deserves the same dignity and privacy as an adult who definitely wouldn’t feel comfortable about public nudity. Secondly because I think he deserves to be protected from the risk of paedophiles and other weirdos looking at him naked.

amusedtodeath1 · 10/10/2021 23:26

@Pythonista

No we are shocked that someone doesn't care if their kid ends up with their picture on a website for paedos. Surely that isn't just an alternative point of view?
I'm glad they're questioning it tbh, because I can't find the words.....
amusedtodeath1 · 10/10/2021 23:27

Sorry wrong quote that was in response to @Dojacatpaws

mandy20x · 10/10/2021 23:31

Unfortunately i would agree with the guy,
Theres to many sick people out there, i wouldnt let my child be naked infront of anyone

I do get what majority of you are saying but, i feel asif we have a lot of weirdos in this world who like to perve on children

SmellyOldOwls · 10/10/2021 23:34

Any and all safeguarding policies are fine by me. The more the better. Not sure how this one was an inconvenience or worth complaining about at all.

mathanxiety · 11/10/2021 03:59

It’s a huge, and thrilling, ordeal for anyone in the area who happens to be a attracted to children unfortunately.

I didn't read 'experience' there, because the adjective used was 'huge'.

I agree ordeal and thrilling don't seem to belong together, but huge and ordeal do.

The gist was the same, regardless - "won't somebody please think of the pedophiles".

mathanxiety · 11/10/2021 04:03

And fwiw, I wouldn't undress my DCs in public. A quick rinse of the hair in the pool showers is all they ever got. We washed properly at home.

Clumsyvolcano · 11/10/2021 04:48

You shouldn’t have to worry about it, no, but unfortunately I can completely understand why such a rule exists and don’t think it’s ridiculous given the prevalence of paedophiles. There could have been a complaint/incident in the past that has made this rule necessary for public safety.

Lockdownbear · 11/10/2021 11:17

Even if they didn't have an issue in the past it's only a matter of time before they do.

LizzieW1969 · 11/10/2021 11:21

^Agreed. Completely unbelievable that anyone would think otherwise. Confused

thebuswontfit · 28/10/2021 22:25

It seems like a silly rule

Surely a peado can look up naked kids on the dark web

Also, if they're that twisted then surely they will be just as excited by little girls in swimming costumes just as much as their little naked bodies
