Hey everyone!!!
We had a scan last week Friday and it was confirmed it we are having twins!!! Currently 7w5days!
I've so overwhelmed with emotions; bouncing between being so scared about possible risks and overjoyed that after 3 years of infertility, a failed round of IVF, we have naturally conceived twins with no real history of twins in my family. In my case I honestly feel this is a miracle from God!
At present it seems babies share a sac but have separate placentas..
I believe this means they are identical but it seems that twins in the "format" is not the most common.. I may be wrong? Confused

I have entered the dark hole of google all the possible be risks with twin pregnancy plus having an increased BMI.
Not really a AIBU, posting here mainly for traffic but would love to hear positive twin pregnancy stories and could do with any advise or support!
Thank you all so much in advance!

@Level75

I thought 2 placentas meant non-identical.
Not always.. if it is a very early division before implantation you can have identical twins with separate placenta... mine are now 9 !

@OurChristmasMiracle

Congratulations!!! They were clearly just keeping you waiting for 3 years to make sure their entrance will make a impact!

Good luck with your pregnancy

Thank you soo much! This is exactly how I feel, I've learnt so much about myself in the 3 years and this makes it all worth it!

So many congratulations! I have identical twin girls – doctors said that they shared a sac, but they each had a placenta, but they all had a bit of a heated discussion about it. I never did find out what was supposed to the usual situation, but medical staff said that it meant that they didn’t know whether my girls were identical or not, and we had to wait for them to grow up a bit!

OldTinHat · 07/10/2021 17:39

Wow!! What amazing news! Wishing you all the very best for your pregnancy and two bundles of joy!

As someone who has a close friend battling to conceive it is heartwarming to hear your lovely story

Aww thank you! It's really difficult supporting friends through infertility, your message makes me think you are a lovely friend though

Thank you sooo much! Haha this sounds similar to what was happening during my early scan, I couldn't work out what it meant abs if I should be more worried about this. Did you realise they are identical by the looks?

Congratulations CR31 - so pleased for you. Tamba is a good place to start.

JellyTeapot · 07/10/2021 17:53

Double congratulations! I've got boy/girl twins, they came with two sacs and two placentas. I found out at about 8 weeks which was great because it gave it a bit of time to sink in before I told people (after my 12 week scan.)
It was definitely a more difficult pregnancy than my singleton, not helped by my age (38 at the time) and raised bmi. I had to have daily blood thinning injections from about 20 weeks and I had spd, but that can happen with a singleton anyway. I had lots of scans and appointments so I felt really well looked after and confident about the pregnancy.
They're 4 now and have just started school. They're honestly the best little people I could ever wish for and I get all gooey when I see them playing together and looking after each other.
Relax and enjoy it - when you tell people you're having twins you get treated like a superhero (which of course you are!) Grin

I have my ds thanks to IVF and I'm always particularly happy for people who've struggled when they finally get their miracle. I know how much it means. And twins too! Congratulations 🎊
