Not a wish list btw.
I'm mid thirties and I think I will see the end of:
Petrol and diesel cars
Cows milk (majority drinking soy/oat)
Pork being eaten by most
Smoking (that's hopeful)
People casually throwing around comments about people's weight
Royal family
Legacy benefits :(
Landline telephones
Desktop computers
A lot of pubs :( :(

Pork? Wtf? Why? Are we all turning Jewish or something? I am hoping you are wrong about cows milk because no way am I drink soya crap. The royal family are staying. Kate and wills have saved them for the foreseeable future. Cash, shopping in a shop, taking for granted the NHS will be able to treat you.. they are all on my soon to be extinct list.

PennineWayinSlingbacks · 06/10/2021 23:17

House phones. I don't know anybody that still uses one

I live in a rural area, lots of us have no mobile signal at home. So unless that massively improves, landlines it is.

BanditoShipman · 06/10/2021 23:20

Why pork and why Venice (travel to)?

@Birdkin maybe I'm in a lefty south west bubble but aren't most making steps to (try to) change that? Even my least concerned friends seem to be walking more and eating less meat.

Seriously? You and your mates becoming flexitarian ain’t gonna solve the worlds climate problems!

The idea that everyone will stop eating animals in the next few decades is a very privileged first world view. Very easy to be able to say that you 'don't exploit animals' when you have an abundance of tasty and nutritious alternatives one Tesco delivery away...

Maskless · 06/10/2021 23:32

I know quite a few people who have desktop computers because they're much better than a laptop for photo editing and gaming.

A lot of people are getting back into having their photos printed: see the explosion in apps such as FreePrints.

A lot of paperwork still has to be completed on paper with real ink because it's more difficult to forge: see birth, death and marriage certificates for example.

I think loose tea is making a comeback so therefore teapots aren't going anywhere.

Cash should stay: I'd hate a cashless system.

Plant based milks are awful! In our house we buy almost enough cows' milk and real cheese to keep a dairy afloat!

I hope we see an end to the current Tory Gov't soon.

Lavanderrose · 06/10/2021 23:36

Op said not a wish list but can’t help but want there to be no more racism

You clearly don't live in the middle of Norfolk! My mobile works in two rooms in the house or in the garden, it's rarely used for making calls.
itsnotmeitsu · 06/10/2021 23:39

Countryside, rural havens for wildlife, forests and fields. Everything has been handed over to developers to make as much profit as they can out of our surroundings.

onlychildhamster · 06/10/2021 23:41

Cash
NHS (or at least free at the point of access medical treatment)
Petrol and diesel cars
Landlines
Mass car ownership (at least in cities)
Home ownership being the norm- think it would be 50% or less (I think as a millennial, my generation was lucky on this front as crazy as that sounds. Future generations might be telling me how insane it is to be able to buy a London flat in my 20s).
Most Department stores

Sarahlou63 · 06/10/2021 23:41

You are mid 30’s? Expect to see the end of oil, antibiotics, a lot of current coastlines and some entire low lying countries.

onlychildhamster · 06/10/2021 23:41

Also United Kingdom

DroopyClematis · 06/10/2021 23:41

@BanditoShipman
Venetians are not wanting tourism as it has all but destroyed the Venetian way of life.
Also, it is slowly but very noticeably sinking and tourism is exacerbating this.

Crispynoodle · 06/10/2021 23:45

I want to nominate Northern Ireland

Hopefulsunrise · 06/10/2021 23:46

cheese strings/babybels

On the other hand: rewilding, tree planting, wildlife corridors, regeneration of chalk streams and endangered habitats, reintroduction of endangered species.
