Not a wish list btw.
I'm mid thirties and I think I will see the end of:
Petrol and diesel cars
Cows milk (majority drinking soy/oat)
Pork being eaten by most
Smoking (that's hopeful)
People casually throwing around comments about people's weight
Royal family
Legacy benefits :(
Landline telephones
Desktop computers
A lot of pubs :( :(

The NHS as we know it.

Letters and envelopes.

MyCatHatesWhiskas · 06/10/2021 22:15

Probably also snow in the winter, for the SE of England at least.

Onlinedilema · 06/10/2021 22:17

Free health care
Speaking to a human on the phone regarding business, it will all be done by AI.
Many pubs will close
Many cinemas will close
There will be a Rise in virtual experiences including holidays, whereby you will buy a programme which will allow your mind to believe you are holidaying somewhere else. In fact you won't even leave your house.
Robots will become companions.
The number of women having children will decline.
You will be able to chose the sex of your child, most will chose a boy.
This will lead to less females, lower birth rates, and more females will transition to become male.
Girls will transition at a younger age to avoid going through puberty.
The UK won't exist.
Hardly any ungated communities, home owners will chose to live in gated communities.
Hardly any free parks, they will belong to those who live in gated communities.
Physical newspapers.

Racism/racist micro aggressions 🙏🏼
Gender pay gap
Boris Johnson
Plastic

Car keys
Petrol/diesel

Woodland due to various tree diseases.

I think cash will always have a place in society.
Plastic cards however, they're already on their way out. Phones are the way forward for payment.
Travel agents are returning, not going. New ones everywhere around here. Also new butchers. Meat isnt going anywhere!

DeepaBeesKit · 06/10/2021 22:19

Cows milk is going nowhere!

TimeFlysWhenYoureHavingRum · 06/10/2021 22:21

The NHS,
The state pension,
Home ownership for all but an elite minority.

saleorbouy · 06/10/2021 22:21

Facebook. It will hopefully go the same way as Friends Reunited, Bebop, MySpace....

Anycolourwilldo · 06/10/2021 22:22

Humans eating meat
Petrol / diesel cars
The post
Cash
Plugs / wires (I think there will be a better way to charge things in the future)

Blurp · 06/10/2021 22:23

Non-electric cars.

Car ownership. I imagine we'll eventually see a lot of driverless cars that you can summon like a taxi, so basically no one will own a car any more (unless their job involves driving all day), they'll subscribe to a service to be allowed to use one when they need it.

The UK. Scotland will vote to leave within 20 years, and Northern Ireland will go the same way. Wales and England may stay together.

Land line phones.

Cheap goods - we'll have to reach a point where we actually pay the full cost of disposal as well as buying in the first place.

Dental fillings - surely we must be close to someone inventing some sort of polyfilla for teeth? I can't be that hard.

Zilla1 · 06/10/2021 22:24

cease -

Jobs for anything substitutable by AI or robots, including delivery drivers, taxis and so on.

Some real world crimes like bank robberies.

The current shoreline when seas and oceans rise.

Habitable environments in some currently hot but liveable places.

I doubt petrol and diesel cars will cease, even if no new fossil fuel cars can be sold relatively soon - we have cars being used now that are over 100 years old. Unless relatively draconian laws are passes, expect expensive fuel will remain available.

Being able to deal with your finances without going online.

1jan2020 · 06/10/2021 22:28

God a lot of this thread is so depressing! A new bookshop actually opened recently near to me and they seem to be doing well. I personally don't think they're going anywhere soon - if anything the pandemic has made people support and value their local shops more. People want human interaction and don't want to buy everything online.

I would like to see petrol/diesel cars, meat eating and travel to Venice phased out though.

Zilla1 · 06/10/2021 22:29

Being able to have an analogue life reasonably easily.

1jan2020 · 06/10/2021 22:30

@Onlinedilema's predictions are particularly bleak! Sad

Dongdingdong · 06/10/2021 22:31

The EU.

drumandhake · 06/10/2021 22:34

@Blurp there is a clinic in Switzerland which are trying to 'grow' teeth

Apparently nightclubs are nearly gone, am hoping theyll make a comeback as I think every generation should get to go out just to dance!
Cash and brick and mortar banks
Facebook
I don't know what will happen re cars as it will take some time for any of these things to get affordable for everyone
The possibility of phoning about service issues

NigellaSeed · 06/10/2021 22:37

Fountain pens

Dizzybintess · 06/10/2021 22:38

Hopefully rudeness to redheads!

Totally agreed, I think paperback and ebooks and audio are co existing nicely and hope it will continue but I do think we might see more print as required/on demand for print books
