Not a wish list btw.
I'm mid thirties and I think I will see the end of:
Petrol and diesel cars
Cows milk (majority drinking soy/oat)
Pork being eaten by most
Smoking (that's hopeful)
People casually throwing around comments about people's weight
Royal family
Legacy benefits :(
Landline telephones
Desktop computers
A lot of pubs :( :(
@Birdkin maybe I'm in a lefty south west bubble but aren't most making steps to (try to) change that? Even my least concerned friends seem to be walking more and eating less meat.
I definitely think there are plenty of individuals that are making small changes but at this point we also really need big governmental changes, and that’s globally. The UK going fully green won’t help much if China and the US don’t change anything. Sorry to be a downer I do generally try not to think about it too much as it fills me with existential dread!

@FangsForTheMemory

democracy
It was invented by the ancient Greeks and has had literal millennia in the making. Er, so no.

What’s that about Venice? How come?

Siameasy · 06/10/2021 22:03

Pork! Not a chance. Hugely popular on the continent especially Italy, Spain, E Europe as well as SE Asia. Best meat out there IMO

Passwords. I'm sure pretty soon it will be face recognition or eye recognition. Maybe fingerprints somehow.
It might be wishful thinking but they infuriate me. Especially when you need a certain number of characters with a capital letter, number, special character and so on.

ThreeLittleDots · 06/10/2021 22:05

Non-lab grown meat and milk
Voluntary euthanasia being illegal
Cash
Gender
Porn

...Or some of these may be more like 100s of years in the future

NHS

Home ownership- we'll all be slaves to the system and pay rent

Air travel- unaffordable to everyone but the rich

Will see if I can think of anymore

ragged · 06/10/2021 22:08

I'm mid 50s and thinking... UK. Could literally split up.
Lots of in person shops. Town centres are going to transform.
Pop up shops and market days will become more normal for buying miscellaneous stuff.
Diesel domestic cars but commercial diesel vehicles will persist.
TV license, and BBC as we know it. :(
RIP quality speech radio.
Books?
Photo albums?
Physical dictionaries.
Textbooks.
Domestic landlines maybe, too.

SisforSoppy · 06/10/2021 22:08

People casually throwing around comments about people's weight

That won’t be going unless there is a way of making being overweight healthy. The NHS however won’t be around to pick up the bill, and health insurance companies will place premiums on the insurance payments of the overweight

SantiagoSky · 06/10/2021 22:10
 • Energy from fossil fuel / gas / coal
 • Fossil fuel based cars / trucks / buses
 • Cars / trucks / buses that need a driver (and consequently most individually owned vehicles - transport will become a service)
 • Eating animals

But here's what I don't think will change.
Poverty and inequality
Hate crime
Food shortages
Poorly run government
Greed
Bad eating habits
Our ability to have fun, to love laugh and cry and our human capacity to care deeply for others.
