As the title suggests really. I was wondering today what other people do and for how many hours a week to earn £20,000-£30,000 per year? I like having a glimpse into other people's worlds 🙂

Retail Manager, £24k, usually 8 til 6, but more if we’re short staffed. Been with them a long time and am content with my lot, terms and conditions are reasonable and we’ve survived COVID so I’ll take that! Recently took a pay cut to work 9 days in 14 instead of 10 which has vastly improved my general well-being.

Nurse

Someone working 37.5 hours a week at NMW (which is currently £8.91 if you're over 23) will be earning just under 16k a year after tax.

I'm not for a second claiming it's a lot of money, but surely we quote gross, not net salaries normally?

FrankButchersDickieBow · 06/10/2021 14:58

I'm a secretary for a trade union and earn just over £30k. I work 32.5hrs per week.

supermoonrising · 06/10/2021 15:04

Teachers working 70+ hours a week. Even at the normal top of the scale (earning say 38k) multiply 70 hours a week by ten months a year (assuming they do literally nothing for two months summer/Easter/Christmas -very unlikely) and it works out about £12 an hour. Pretty bad pay really.

ThatWriterInTheCorner · 07/10/2021 18:10

Copywriter, working about 20 hours a week. It's paid per piece so I could up my income if I did more hours, but I'm happy with the balance at the moment

HellsAngel81 · 07/10/2021 18:28

Registered veterinary nurse, working 40hrs per week. Qualified for 17yrs and I earn half way between that bracket. Its sadly not unheard of, for fellow RVNs to be earning less than £20k full time Sad

Merryoldgoat · 07/10/2021 18:33

I earned £27,000 as a PT finance manager (3 days per week)

ElephantandGrasshopper · 07/10/2021 19:06

Lots of public sector roles will earn in that range including most admin staff. Also lots of NHS staff including admin and clinical staff. I think the UK average salary falls in that range so it would cover a lot of people.

Livpool · 07/10/2021 19:29

I am a Test Analyst and DH is a civil servant

Pippa12 · 07/10/2021 19:56

Nursing critical care sister- 25/26k part time hours. That’s majority nights and weekends tho, otherwise it’d be significantly less.

OfNick · 07/10/2021 20:05
