As the title suggests really. I was wondering today what other people do and for how many hours a week to earn £20,000-£30,000 per year? I like having a glimpse into other people's worlds 🙂

In the charity where I work, database officers, junior fundraisers, customer services assistants and PAs would earn within that range for a 37.5 hour week.

skatewanker · 05/10/2021 23:05

Data and analytics administration.

Im currently on Maternity but before that was earning between £25,000 and £40,000 a year depending on hours I did etc

AwkwardPaws27 · 05/10/2021 23:07

Support Worker/Keyworker/Caseworker 3rd sector, niche group of service users.

I do everything from attend hospital appointments to PIP, housing, UC, Mental Health, criminal justice involvment. Anything really that the service user needs support with within reason.

Nature reserve manager/ecologist

Lbnc2021 · 05/10/2021 23:10

I’m a self employed personal trainer and earn around 21k

BorlandRd · 05/10/2021 23:10

Museum curator/university admin (2 part time jobs that are the equivalent of working full time)

ANameChangeAgain · 05/10/2021 23:12

I earned the lower end of that bracket as a PA. I work for myself now for double that.

YourWinter · 05/10/2021 23:15

I work in a supermarket (part time, earning well below £10/hour).

I think a team manager, full time, salaried rather than hourly paid, can earn £25-£28k, an assistant team manager £22-£24k. Only at deputy branch manager level would they earn over £30k. The poor rate is offset to some extent by staff discount, and perks including subsidised dining room. It's not great.

SerenShine · 05/10/2021 23:17

HR Assistant

MissMatty2hats · 05/10/2021 23:20

I work in a supermarket on checkouts, 30-35 hours a week and I earn the equivalent of around £23,000. Makes me glad we have strong unions here.

TableFlowerss · 05/10/2021 23:22

Isn’t the minimum wage close to £20k?

thegcatsmother · 05/10/2021 23:22

Civil Servant, 37 hours a week. Earn £22,011 gross.

ilovesooty · 05/10/2021 23:24

I earned at the lower end of that coordinating the Education Training and Employment programme in the community drug and alcohol service in my last job. I hadn't had any kind of pay increase since 2012. I loved the job and the company but was beginning to feel resentful and undervalued so I left to work for myself - more money for far fewer hours.

rrhuth · 05/10/2021 23:25

Isn’t the minimum wage close to £20k?
£18.5k for a 40hr week I think?
Manth0914 · 05/10/2021 23:28

Interesting answers. I knew teachers worked hard but I'm seriously shocked at those hours!

Radiological Compliance Manager, full time with a long commute everyday (100 miles round trip) I earn just above the top figure you mention it's taken me my whole working life to get to earn above 30k as I left school at 15 with zero qualifications and homeless and 37 years later I got there and I'm proud of my achievement. Especially given how male dominated STEM is.

RubyFowler · 05/10/2021 23:29

My last role was band 5 NHS role, Estates Officer for that sort of money.

Shergill15 · 05/10/2021 23:34

Probation Officer. Top of pay scale. I earn 30k on 30 hours a week. Full time would be about 37k

CandyLeBonBon · 05/10/2021 23:35

Photographer

KittiesInsane · 05/10/2021 23:37

Self employed editor. Around £30k for average 20 hours a week. Could do more, but too much screen time gives me headaches these days.

NovemberWitch · 05/10/2021 23:40

Supply teacher. Much less money than when I was a class teacher, but the freedom!
Evenings and weekends. Holidays in term time. Take a day off whenever I like.

noblegreenk · 05/10/2021 23:40

Corporate receptionist, 37 hours pw.

Northernsoullover · 05/10/2021 23:41

@littlecrocodiles

Technical Officer at a Local Authority. FTE would be at the top of that range.
Are you in EH?
