Just dishing up dinner before I head out to work, just an easy fish fingers, chips and veg and suddenly thought 'how many fish fingers do I give an 11 year old? I wasn't sure whether 2 was enough or 3 too much, they do eat quite a lot.

How many would you give an 11 year old?

3 to 4 here. I really want a fishfinger sandwich now, the radio has also just mentioned fishfinger sandwiches must be a sign.

Oblomov21 · 05/10/2021 20:24

2? Shock

  1. At least.
BinDayTomorrow · 05/10/2021 20:24

4

Classinglass · 05/10/2021 20:25

4

thinkbiglittleone · 05/10/2021 20:28

I was shocked to see 3 as an option, but then again i have 5 on a buttie with a few as a chaser, so I'm a bit unreasonable it seems.

So I would go 4 or 5 realistically.

RAFHercules · 05/10/2021 20:29

My lot like them on rice with sweet and sour sauce poured over Shock

LidlMiddleLover · 05/10/2021 20:40

4-5

FreeButtonBee · 05/10/2021 20:44

Those piddly wee Birdseye ones? My 8yo would eat 5 or 6.

The nice big fat Waitrose or M&S fresh ones, 3.

LyingWitchInTheWardrobe · 05/10/2021 20:45

@Couldhavebeenme3

Depends. Fish fingers are my comfort food, I've been known to eat a whole pack on my own. For a hungry 11 year old I'd serve 4, lighten up on the chips if you're worried about empty carbs.

Mmmmm fish fingers....

I would eat a whole packet as well, they're not high in fat or salt and are so delicious. I'm the only one who really likes them, the others are sausage fiends.

I do quite like dipping them in bean juice too.

TheOpenRoad · 05/10/2021 20:47

5 or 6 I would say. Really surprised at people feeding their 11 year olds 2, that seems like a toddler portion

maddiemookins16mum · 05/10/2021 20:48

I’m out for lunch tomorrow so won’t be having a big ‘tea’. I’ve just checked my freezer and there are fishfingers, so am already planning a butty tomorrow night.

4
My 9 and six year olds have 3 each

TamponSupport · 05/10/2021 20:50

DD9 asks for 3, dS11 asks for lots but gets 4, I eat 4 and DH eats 8 or 9 Shock with veg and chips.

ImInStealthMode · 05/10/2021 20:51

I'm 37 and had 3 'chunky' ones tonight, with chips and peas. Plenty. Granted I'm no longer growing (not upwards anyway).

Bywayofanupdate · 05/10/2021 20:59

My 3yo has 3, my 7yo has 4!

liveforsummer · 05/10/2021 20:59

My 11 year old dd would probably want 6-8 unless it was the giant ones. She'd have eaten 2 as a toddler 😆

Nillynally · 05/10/2021 21:19

My 2 year old has 3 Blush

LST · 05/10/2021 21:21

My 9 year old doesn't like fish fingers so he has 4 chicken fingers. My 7 year old has 4 fish fingers

LST · 05/10/2021 21:22

@user752413

None - mine watched Seaspiracy and that was the end of fish fingers here...
Have they watched cowspiracy too?
Workinghardeveryday · 05/10/2021 21:27

My ds loves fish finger sandwiches. He will have 4 in each (4 slices of bread)!!

Doubledoorsontogarden · 05/10/2021 21:34

3 at 11, 4 aged 12-13. After that your dc will probs shun them, shun you and grunt a bit.

Passthecake30 · 05/10/2021 21:38
  1. 11yr old is pretty much adult sized. Though I often serve my dc (11&13) large crumbed fillets as they seem more filling after a busy school day. However, no one is ever too old for fish fingers!
