Just dishing up dinner before I head out to work, just an easy fish fingers, chips and veg and suddenly thought 'how many fish fingers do I give an 11 year old? I wasn't sure whether 2 was enough or 3 too much, they do eat quite a lot.

How many would you give an 11 year old?

3 or 4.

@Postdatedpandemic

I've just had 4 fish fingers in a curry.

There is no upper age limit on fish fingers, they are the ultimate convenience food.

Mind blown
PurpleDaisies · 05/10/2021 19:21

The primary school I worked in served 3 with chips and beans.

Wh..what? You did what? I’m torn between horrified and really tempted

3-4

4 minimum for a growing 11yo. They tumble the fish sticks around to put layers of ice on them before the crumb coating, so there's precious little fish in there. Fillets would be a better bet. Two is a joke!

Picklesbaby · 05/10/2021 19:31

My 4 year old has 3 ! my 16 month old has 2

Beyondword · 05/10/2021 19:33

DC 10&12.
Definitely 4.

manywildhorses · 05/10/2021 19:33

My 5 and 8 year olds have 3 or 4 but no chips, just beans or peas

MumDadBingoBLUEY · 05/10/2021 19:33

4yo has 3, 2yo has 2 (and 4yo is quick to polish off any leftover!)

Depending on appetite etc, I'd do at least 4/5 for an 11 year old.

Longdistance · 05/10/2021 19:35

Dd12 has 3. 4 if it’s a fish finger sarnie with a fried egg.

Goosey345 · 05/10/2021 19:35

My 2 year old eats 3 plus chips and veg. He's completely normal weight for his age. So definitely 4 I would say.

hellywelly3 · 05/10/2021 19:36

I normally cook the whole packet and give the kids 4 each and spares incase they want seconds

BlackeyedSusan · 05/10/2021 19:38
  1. I only have three as an adult.
user752413 · 05/10/2021 19:54

None - mine watched Seaspiracy and that was the end of fish fingers here...

mistermagpie · 05/10/2021 19:59

If eat 4 in a sandwich or three with chips. My six year old has three with veg (doesn't like chips, weirdo) so I'd reckon an 11 year old should have at least three?

N0PE · 05/10/2021 20:05

  1. But I’d make more so they could have extra if they were still hungry.

I asked my 13 year old and he said 10. Grin

I'd okay 8 each and if still hungry they'd be sent towards a healthier extra.

11 is rather old for fishfingers unless in a sandwich.

😂😂😂😂😂

maddiemookins16mum · 05/10/2021 20:19
  1. They’re tiny. That said someone will be along soon to say 1.5 should be enough with a massive salad.

You what? A fried egg in a fish finger sandwich! What madness is this….

4 or 5 fish fingers with chips and veg is standard for my 12yr DS and his friends.
