How many fish fingers?

Just dishing up dinner before I head out to work, just an easy fish fingers, chips and veg and suddenly thought 'how many fish fingers do I give an 11 year old? I wasn't sure whether 2 was enough or 3 too much, they do eat quite a lot.

How many would you give an 11 year old?

I could just eat a fish finger sarnie dripping with salad cream now 😋

@WorraLiberty

We haven't had the 'How many fish fingers' thread for ages Grin

I would've gone with 3 but why didn't you ask them how many they wanted?

My seven year old would of replied ‘as many as I can have’ 😂
Kuachui · 05/10/2021 18:55

Definitely atleast 4

stayingaliveisawayoflife · 05/10/2021 18:56

Battered chunky fish fingers........mmmmmmmmm

LadyMonicaBaddingham · 05/10/2021 18:56

Definitely 3 now, but be prepared to allow 5 or 6 for teenage boys now that they've shrunk so much (the fishfingers, not the teenagers!)

WorraLiberty · 05/10/2021 18:56

@Christmas1988 mind would have too 🤣

GreyTriangleCatEars · 05/10/2021 18:57

7 year old has 2 or 3 depending on how hungry she is.

I have 4. My Brother eats 6.

So definitely at least 3 for an 11 year old.

Comefromaway · 05/10/2021 18:58

I have 4. A 10-11 year old would need 3. A young child would be 2.

ArabellaScott · 05/10/2021 18:59

3/4

ArabellaScott · 05/10/2021 19:00

That is 3 or 4, btw, not 'three quarters'. Not a competitive under-eater/feeder.

RedHelenB · 05/10/2021 19:00

Minimum of 3 more like they'd eat 4 or 5.

Looubylou · 05/10/2021 19:00

3

IveGotASongThatllGetOnYNerves · 05/10/2021 19:01

Depends on how hungry they are, how big the portion of chips is, how much veg there is and if the fish fingers are the good sized chunky ones or the crappy twig ones.

MrsMiddleMother · 05/10/2021 19:03

@XiCi they're in primary actually and because they over eat. If they ask for 6 should I give them 6 or should I give them a healthy portion size? Hmm

My grandchildren (all under 10) have four!

I always used to consider two fish fingers to be a portion, so that's what I used to give my own children and myself - and my mother also only ever served two per person.

Either fish fingers have got smaller or children eat more than they used to!

4 or 5 for my 12yo. With lots of chips and veg.

DedalusBloom · 05/10/2021 19:05

I had a posh fish finger wrap at a pub for lunch yesterday. It was alright, but the crumb to fish ratio was out of wack. A classic fish finger is 50% fish, 50 crumb. This was at least 80% haddock in a soft tortilla. With garnish

PieonaBarm · 05/10/2021 19:07

My 2 year old godson can do 7 or 8 if he's in the mood. He's the skinniest kid I know. They're only little, I'd say at least 4.

littlepeas · 05/10/2021 19:08

5!

MintyGreenDream · 05/10/2021 19:09

Can I just recommend a fishfinger sandwich with 8 fishfingers and tomato sauce on a baguette 😋

Jigsawprison · 05/10/2021 19:12

My 12 year old Dt have different appetites one has 2 the other has 3. I would only have 2.

starfishmummy · 05/10/2021 19:12

It depends how many chips you have done. After all this is mumsnet where one potato serves a family of four for a week.

You said chips, so more than one. If you just served two chips then the 11yo might need a 12 pack of fish fingers to themselves
