No fb for over an hour now, literally just realised how much I am on there, hopefully this helps to let go a bit.

FB page isn't working for me still but it's the only one of the 3 apps I have so don't know about the others.

I love him and he's harmless in general but he makes me worry about him because, especially since COVID and various lockdowns he's become more isolated and has gotten further and further down various CT rabbit holes.
What makes it sadder is that he's actually very intelligent and usually pretty switched on, I think there is some relation to depression and anxiety which he has suffered a lot from in his life. I just think he is a bit vulnerable

Sure, I'm lolling with all my colleagues tonight, but it's not a resilience issue.

They use multi-homed multi-path bgp pairs using different providers. The network is as resilient as it gets.

Their real issue is poor deployment testing and back out planning.

Still, credit to them. 6 hours isn't too bad when you've just accidentally borked your global bgp config which in turn has cascaded into DNS and removed you from the world map.

Whoever is responsible for test planning will be feeling some great tonight. I've been there myself.

Ive said upthread im not a techy. DH is. Its his field. Ive been around him fixing shit like this long enough to understand in laymans terms without the word salad.

What @BasicDad posted was no word salad, it was pretty much layman’s terms. Pretty easy to understand for this non IT person.

Also confirms what would be logically the case for an organisation that prides itself on resilience. Still waiting for your explanation of how they have far fewer outages than any other organisation, if their resilience is done on the cheap and apparently botched together according to you.
