To ask why we aren’t talking about the fuel anymore?

We still have all our petrol stations empty, there has been the odd delivery but all the pumps have empty signs very quickly.

It doesn’t seem to be on the news anymore, are we just accepting that this is how we now live?

Jemina your compassion for teachers, nurses and other workers who need to get to work is just overwhelming. No, really. Hmm

If you think we're selfish, maybe take a long hard look in a mirror because your attitude smacks of 'I'm all right, Jack'.

katesbushh · 03/10/2021 21:38

Midlands here

I had to go to 4 petrol stations today to get diesel.
They all had petrol though and not much queueing.
Diesel seems scarce though.

heywassuphello · 03/10/2021 21:41

Seems fully resolved in the north, I haven't had a problem getting fuel even once

MMAMPWGHAP · 03/10/2021 21:48

Just for info London and the SE has nearly a third of the UK population.

PinkTonic · 03/10/2021 21:51

@Squirrelblanket

It's an issue mainly affecting the SE/London now.

I know it's hard to cope with an issue affecting SE/London not being national news for a change but you will just have to get on with it. Like the rest of the country does most of the time.

My daughter has just texted me to say she can’t get any and won’t be able to get to work tomorrow. She’s in Gloucestershire.
Cadent · 03/10/2021 21:51

@JemimaPiddleDick

We aren’t talking about it because in the vast majority of the country it’s no longer an issue, it’s just the SE / London that seem to still be suffering and that’s probably down to the sense of entitlement that that region suffers from. It may surprise you to learn but there is a whole world outside of the South East of England and by and large we don’t give two hoots about what happens down there, regardless of how much people from there seem to think the world revolves around them
Oh blow it out of your ass!
bigbaggyeyes · 03/10/2021 21:55

I popped to the petrol station after food shopping today and all the pumps were working and full with fuel but the forecourt was empty, I didn't have to queue at all

OnTheBoardwalk · 03/10/2021 22:00

NW here and have been back to normal since Friday. 12 pumps open only 4 cars and I filled up as usual once I got to just over quarter tank ( I panic if I go below quarter)

I’m happy it isn’t front line news any more. There isn’t a lack of fuel. The constant news feeds nearly made me rush out and buy petrol but I didn’t cos I didn’t need any

Hope the SE gets refilled quickly

pelosi · 03/10/2021 22:02

Four petrol stations near me closed all day today in West London. I’m guessing they’ll get a delivery tomorrow.

Lots of worry on my local Nextdoor, people wondering if they’ll have petrol to get to work or not.

RampantIvy · 03/10/2021 22:04

I filled up today in Barnsley. No issues at all.

gogohm · 03/10/2021 22:05

Most places have fuel, other stories have overtaken it. If they hadn't made a fuss last week about 13 garages in one specific place there never would have been a run on fuel!

HappyTimeTunnelDinosaur · 03/10/2021 22:11

SW/Wales border here, fuel is really hard to find at the moment. Our nearest garage had a half tanker delivery early last week which was gone in about 6h, they haven't had any more since. If you have enough to get to the motorway (30ish miles) sometimes the nearest services have some. I'm hopeful it will be sorted everywhere soon though.

abw94 · 03/10/2021 22:18

West Midlands - no issues here anymore.

CuckooCall · 03/10/2021 22:33

And yet people outside of this area spend an awful lot of time discussing/bitching/whining about the SE and London despite apparently not giving two hoots about the area. It's almost as if you suffer from some all consuming inferiority complex 😂😂
Volterra · 03/10/2021 22:39

South Coast , got some at 4th petrol station today. I’d like to know why people here were experiencing problems getting any a week before the media ran with it.

Blinky21 · 03/10/2021 22:43

Media got bored and have moved onto the next disastrous result of Brexit, no butchers

ichundich · 03/10/2021 22:50

@WayneBruce

Loads of petrol up north. No queues, nothing running dry. Think the issue still remains in the SE though. Old news now.
How nice for you.
lnsufficientFuns · 03/10/2021 22:54

@Confiscatedpopit

SE… too much money (for some) and too little worries. More likely to panic buy.

Northerners- not enough £ to stock up and more likely to worry about actual problems.

Horrific generalisation but surely a grain of truth there…

You’ve basically made all that up.

I’m in the northwest, plenty money around here. Plenty fuel. Rural too and nobody is panicking.

AngelsWithSilverWings · 03/10/2021 23:02

It's still bad where I am in Essex. Our local Facebook page is full of people reporting that they have driven to three or four garages and failed it find any fuel.

When garages do get a delivery a massive queue will form and it becomes impossible to get around the queuing cars. Most garages run out of fuel by mid morning.

I've stopped driving unless I have absolutely no alternative. DD gets the train to school now thankfully and DS has been getting the bus on the days it's too wet to cycle ( I usually drive him in on wet days )

Cherrysoup · 03/10/2021 23:04

Stop bloody talking about it and the issue will be resolved!

NewIdeasToday · 03/10/2021 23:23

South east here. And it’s very difficult. Only one of about ten local garages had petrol yesterday. They were limiting to £25 max and had no Diesel.

TableFlowerss · 03/10/2021 23:41

@Cherrysoup

Stop bloody talking about it and the issue will be resolved!
THIS!!

If you want it to actually end, Stop continually posting ‘I live in the south and there is none anywhere…’

Don’t you understand it perpetuates the problem. The reason the north doesn’t really have the same issue is because northerners now don’t feel there is an issue really, therefore they’ve all calmed down (righty so).

Constantly coming on here saying how bad it is, keeps the problem well and truly in people’s mind so they ‘pop’ to fill up when they don’t need to.

Cadent · 03/10/2021 23:44

So people are supposed to lie and say they were able to get petrol?

This just smacks of ‘shut up southerners’.

TableFlowerss · 03/10/2021 23:46

@Cadent

Just don’t post!!! It’s like the news constantly going on about it just makes it worse.

@Cadent

Makes no difference to me as I’m not in the position you’re in. I’m trying to be helpful, so don’t know what you’re going on about saying ‘it smacks at ‘Shut up southerners’.

Go on about it all you like but don’t expect it to end anytime soon…..
